I cooked the whole meal for Thanksgiving and Christmas for my whole family. That is my gift to everyone. I don’t buy a lot of gifts. Mostly small things. Plus I cook 1 Sunday dinner a month for everyone.
I made the dinosaur quilt last fall. I had a blast doing it and didn't feel it was to hard. I am an experienced sewer, but new to quilting and this was my first quilt. I choose my own colors, glued samples to the enclosed color chart, and had fun!! My granddaughter loves it!
I really enjoyed this video, as you were all talking about thanksgiving traditions and fave foods. When you all were answering questions it had a comfortable homey feel to it!! Just awesome!!
Every time I watch one of the Live shows, I feel like Kimberly is our friend and we're all sitting around a big room sewing and talking to each other. That's the best part of FQS, the comradery with everyone, and I'm so thankful for that.
I loved your family stories the enchilada thanksgiving dinner story was the best and eating on paper plates took it to the next level. Happy thanksgiving to all of the FQS crew.
That backing of Lori Holt fabric that you didn’t starch, what if your longarm quilter irons with steam? Will it shrink differently then with the steam?
I got the E. Hartman Dinosaur pattern from FQS and I admit I am so excited. I am glad you showed your finished blocks so I can see your fabric selection. I am collecting fabrics for it and I can see from yours how to contrast fabrics to define the three dimentionality of the dinosaurs. i've done other E. Hartmans before using small Tupperware containers to hold the pieces because I can use a sharpie on the lids. Any kind of mix up would be a nightmare. Her patterns are not fast or easy but her instructions are very organized. I wonder where you use larger piece size and cut down to size.
Hi Kimberly, someone asked about clip-on alpha bitties. I took 2 inch Wonder clips and I labeled them with a sharpie. They are perfect!!! I wish I could post a picture of them.
Love watching your channel. I am inspired to do all the quilts! I have a question: When you back a quilt with plush fabric (like your Harry Potter quilt) do you also use batting between the layers?
Started your livestream this morning but just got to finish it=) it was fun. I’ve just started cross stocking❤️ I’m addicted. I visited my daughter in Boston last week and she has now started cross stitch💕 I ordered her a bunch of goodies and shipped them to her ! xxxxxxxxxx❤️ I have learned sew much from your quilt channel and now your floss tube videos too. Thank you. Thankful for FQS.
Your Friendsgiving was wonderful. Thank you for sharing about yourself and the family. You are very private, so I really appreciate it. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all the FQS team!
I have cooked for many of the years at Thanksgiving. We also love doing destination Thanksgiving. Disney/ Cruise / and Florida. Most thankful for my hubby of 44 years today 11-19. My children and super blessed with Grand children. Wishing you all a very blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas 🎅
Oh my stars. The Sheri & Chelsea quilt with the brown is AMAZING! That brown made that quilt. I LOVE it - good choice. And I love the setting you're using.
Well...looks like I'm making a starching area in my house. I thought you were getting too many fumes at first because of how you saturate your material, but I started a quilt with alot of seams and Alot of small piecing. I GET IT NOW!! thank you for your endless knowledge.
Chicken salad quilt by Lori Holt- when does it start. I want to stitch with Kimberly with a pieced quilt - I dislike appliqué. Thanks for all you do Kimberly
Kimberly, your finishes are awesome! Enjoy a great Thanksgiving…I think it is the day for everyone to eat just what they love! And stay healthy next weekend through all the work. We all surely appreciate it! 🥰
We take turns hosting/cooking. Host/cook does the turkey, potatoes, gravy, stuffing, , veg, sometimes the rolls and the rest is divided up amongst the rest of the family. Whoever hosts/cooks doesn't do the dishes. My daughter does some sort of advent calendar for her kids every year. The Five Below store is fun. We used to do the tree the first weekend after Turkey Day. Now I only decorate if it's my turn to have Xmas at my house LOL.
I will be doing a video on my own channel with some trimming and binding tips soon. I use 2.5” binding, attach to the front of the quilt, then fold over to the back and do hand binding with matching Aurifil thread.
The first year I was married I cooked a whole Thanksgiving spread and invited another family from church. When we sat down to eat they asked if I had peanut butter and bread. I was crushed.
That was incredible rude of them. They should have let you know they didn’t eat traditional thanksgiving food when you invited them. Wow, I would have been crushed also.
As a common European I dont get the point of decorating the house with Christmas stuff before December. November is more about All Saints & All Souls. Even if I start preparing for Christmas on 1st of December I am fed up with everything Christmas by New Years eve. Can someone explain it to me? Also, I prepare Christmas gifts all year round if I find something gift worthy instead of just buying stuff last minute.
Kimberly, you should use the panagraph from the Springbrook Blossoms quilt, the pattern of the panagraph reminds me of the golden snich from Harry Potter. Ask Will

My entire life, we have cut our own Christmas trees, always a blue spruce, usually the second Saturday after Thanksgiving. The only exception was during the five years we lived in Texas due to my husband's corporate move; there were no tree farms or blue spruce anywhere. My kids were in high school then, and whined about spending Christmas in Texas because it was so depressing and un-Christmas-y to them. It only lasted five years, but they have yet to forgive us. When we decorate the tree, we have It's A Wonderful Life running in the background. I cook for all the holidays, and make some things in advance and freeze them so that it isn't so overwhelming. I make several pies for Thanksgiving, always a pumpkin and a coconut cream, but sometimes a derby pie or an apple pie as well. We usually play board games after dinner or a card game. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
That was such fun. We don’t celebrate thanksgiving in the UK but Christmas dinner is turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce and gravy with sprouts, roasted and mash potatoes and pigs in blankets and other veg. Yummy 🤤
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving … though I do think it is hard for anyone in retail to have a great holiday! I went to my mom and dads for Thanksgiving until they started spending winters in FL. For several years we went out and now we go to our sons home. I have never made a turkey in my life, and I want to keep it that way!
So I had a gas leak in September. My husband didn't believe me that I was smelling gas. Well I called the gas company and yes my stove had a gas leak. They shut off the gas to the stove so no stove since. This prompted us to redo the kitchen. Well the cabinets just arrived. My stove is ready for delivery. The refrigerator and dishwasher won't have them for a while. My contractor is starting this Wednesday. I always cook. We were going to my daughter's house for Thanksgiving but my 4 yr old grandson got covid at pre-k. So they are quarantine. Wishing everyone many blessings. I count mine.
Such a fun video!!! Of course, Lori cooks for everyone!!! I think she can do everything! ❤️ You are getting so much finished for the end of the year!! When someone asked Kimberly if she pays her kids for helping, I thought she was going to say, Yeah, there’s this thing called room and board!!!😆 It’s just what popped in my head!! Thank you for the Black Friday sales and all that y’all do to help everyone else!! I hoping all of y’all have a great Thanksgiving!! You all deserve it!!!😍
My children will come and everyone brings a couple of dishes. We will have had this year. We don't ha e a huge family. It great having my children here
I was in the parade twice! First time, I was a balloon handler for the Ronald McDonald balloon 🎈. The second time, I was on the 2017 Macy’s singing Christmas tree! It has all Macy’s employees from around the country, and it was a whole audition process! Some people didn’t make it in. We rehearsed twice a day for 3 days prior to the parade, and parade day, we had to be up at 3:30 am, and to the costume department by 4:30 am! We were bussed to our float ( in front of Santa 🎅) by 7 am, then we rehearse and wait for the parade to begin! We sang 2 Christmas carols, in a loop, over and over until we got to the 34th st flagship store, then we sang the song that was an original song for that day. Then your float turns the corner and you’re done! They gave us a thanksgiving lunch that was delicious! Yes, I do work for Macy’s, I’ve been there for 31 years. After both parades, I had to get back to our store, and go to work! We used to be open for Thanksgiving, but for the past 2 years we have been closed. It was a great experience both times, and I would recommend it for everyone to do at least once! Happy thanksgiving 🦃🍽🍁
Loved your video today. Kimberly you’re so cute. And so transparent. Just makes you seem so real. Love all of your videos. And I can’t even call myself a quilter…yet. I try. But haven’t made a whole quilt yet. Lol. Happy thanksgiving to you and your family. ♥️🦃
Thank you for the weekly stream. It's informative and enjoyable. I have a question about the Lori Holt Chicken Salad quilt-a-long. I understand that there will be an option for those of us who do not do applique to sew pieced blocks, and that if I buy the quilt kit, then there is enough material to do those pieced blocks. I also understand that those blocks will be kitchen themed and a surprise. My question is will the patterns for those pieced blocks be provided, or would it also be necessary to buy the Farm Girl Vintage books? Thank you for your time. By the way, Kevin and the team do a fabulous job on the website. It is so intuitive and up to date. It is the best online shop I've ever used, and I appreciate it:)
One year my husband bought 2 real trees so I could use all of my ornaments…. Last year with real trees due to allergies. Happy Thanksgiving….I am thankful for FQS.
Had a „wow“ moment when you showed the „fascinating facets“ quilt. You called it modern, but it definitely has a great classic feel. Maybe next year you could do a diy Advent calendar for quilters and cross stitchers.

Will be having dinner at my mom's. Everyone will bring something, but mom will do her turkey and dressing. I will help clean her house before Thursday and doing all chopping/prep for the dinner. She is not in great health and can't do it all anymore. We have 28 people coming! Happy Thanksgiving 😊
Hubby and I cook. We live in a small house, 24x24 feet it's a story and a half.....we have 9 family members that come every year...lol.....there was a family many years ago that had 19 kids that all lived in the same kind of little house like ours.....omg!
Happy Thanksgiving Kimberly and family and all the quilters on this post. I am blessed!
I am cooking this year for all of my kids and grandkids and it will be a traditional thanksgiving meal. I love this time of year!
I cooked the whole meal for Thanksgiving and Christmas for my whole family. That is my gift to everyone. I don’t buy a lot of gifts. Mostly small things. Plus I cook 1 Sunday dinner a month for everyone.
Glue alphabities to clover clips or clothes pins. Works great.
I made the dinosaur quilt last fall. I had a blast doing it and didn't feel it was to hard. I am an experienced sewer, but new to quilting and this was my first quilt. I choose my own colors, glued samples to the enclosed color chart, and had fun!! My granddaughter loves it!

Thanks for sharing Friendsgiving with us.
You could always try lightning bolts as the pantograph on the Harry Potter quilt. I hope everyone has a safe and yummy holiday! 💜💜🍗

I am making this quilt right now. It's challenging, but if i take my time, my points are perfect
Thank you for sharing your family stories. Made me laugh and smile.
Your backing for the Quilting Life BOM is so much fun!
I found an owl panograph that would look great for the Harry Potter Quilt.
You made me laugh today! I really needed that... from a quilting channel no less. Thank you, Kimberly. Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
What a beautiful bright colored quilt
I loved your family stories the enchilada thanksgiving dinner story was the best and eating on paper plates took it to the next level. Happy thanksgiving to all of the FQS crew.
That backing of Lori Holt fabric that you didn’t starch, what if your longarm quilter irons with steam? Will it shrink differently then with the steam?

Hello Debbie! Yes, the quilts with Cuddle backings still have batting. It may be a different batting than her usual.

Do you still have that appliqué flower panel, you have in the middle of the star on the back? Thx
Hello manations1! That was a pieced backing set that we no longer have available.
What a fun Friendsgiving! Y’all are so funny. You’ve got to try candied sweet potatoes with brown sugar, butter and Pecans! Yum!
I really enjoyed today's show. The quilts were lovely and your question and answer period was fun! God bless and have a happy Thanksgiving!
Not gonna lie Kimberly doing the stegosauruses made me cry - just a little bit! Took a deep breath and finished it! My grandson loves it!!!
The first year I was married I cooked a whole Thanksgiving spread and invited another family from church. When we sat down to eat they asked if I had peanut butter and bread. I was crushed.

Happy Thanksgiving!
What a fun livestream. I loved that so much 💕 Thank You, and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! 🍁
My tree is already up now and it is beautiful
One year my husband bought 2 real trees so I could use all of my ornaments…. Last year with real trees due to allergies. Happy Thanksgiving….I am thankful for FQS.
Hi Kimberly, do you really need the new Lori Holt glasses after your eye surgery?
Have a relaxing Thanksgiving Day FQS team! 🦃 🥧❤️
Had a „wow“ moment when you showed the „fascinating facets“ quilt. You called it modern, but it definitely has a great classic feel.
Maybe next year you could do a diy Advent calendar for quilters and cross stitchers.
Absolutely LOVE your sweater!! You look so good in it,,, Love your finishes...God Bless you and oh!! Happy Thanksgiving...
I made this!-the dinosaur quilt.
It is crazy that you don’t know how too cook. We go to my friends house and take dessert. Then I do a turkey and the trimmings for us. I cook a very big meal every holiday
If it’s possible, you should do the golden snitch for the quilting. It would be circular and go along well with the theme 😊 (It’s the block in the bottom of the photo with Will)
We always went to my Grandma's and my aunts would help. What I remember most is the watered down orange kool-aid. My grandma would just add more water to make it go further.
Kimberly..you crack me up!!!
Well that was fun! Sorry I’m late to the party but just catching up now. A couple of years ago we started assigning each person their own wrapping paper. So all of my gifts are wrapped in one paper my husbands in a different and so on.
😫 no es beginner friendly 😢y ya compré el pattern 😢😢😢

Hubby and I cook. We live in a small house, 24x24 feet it's a story and a half.....we have 9 family members that come every year...lol.....there was a family many years ago that had 19 kids that all lived in the same kind of little house like ours.....omg!
