It depends what your intention is. It's a bit like praying. If you've praying to praise God that's good. If you do it like you see some sports people do it, hoping to win, then it's wrong. That's not what God's about. I do it when passing a church as a reminder of God and all He's done for us. It's not obligatory. Any way to remember God is good.
If i did it, i would probably incorporate taping my nose, rubbing my tummy, clicking my heels together and using all ten fingers just to show everyone how ridiculous that ritual is!❤ Serious. i mean you no offence, i actually just want to help you see reality.
The fact that there are different methods even goes to show how ridiculous and superstitious it is. Did you hear in this video, him talk about how a persons head got sore from doing that so much. That is crazy that a person thought they had to keeping doing that to be protected by God. It sounds like "obsessive compulsive" disorder. Which is a superstitious, thought problem.❤
I would go with the Western way, right to left. I'm half Italian and its almost dispositioned in my dna to do it!! I think there is power in the cross. As an Evangelical, I think it's the one thing we should never of dropped!!!! Glad Anglicans still do it !!
@@danmillar9582 God is the ALL MIGTHY! Meaning He has ALL the POWER! Jesus died by crucifixion on a "cross"...you think the cross that Jesus died on has power? Or is it more like Christ who died on the cross has the POWER!❤ look to God for understanding and think about it ❤
@@danmillar9582 "I would go with the Western way, right to left" come on buddy, listen to yourself..."right to left" total superstition! "the Western way" what? Jesus is the way...we are not supposed to go "the western way"!❤ i would go the Jesus way and Jesus did not do that and He is not telling us to do that("sign of the cross") either.❤
Oh yes, it is superstitious! It does not accomplish anything. i think the reason that they do it is because they think they are going to be protected by God if they do that.❤ God is not looking down and being like: Oh did they do that: "sign of the cross"? Oh they did, oh now i will protect them...oh and they did it fifty times today so i will protect fifty times more. Crosses, are superstitious too...wearing a cross does diddly squat, except it can be a sign to others that a person is a Christian. God protects people and it has nothing to do with wearing a cross or "making the sign of the cross". You are reading something other than the Bible and building theology off of that. This is a big mistake.❤
i am glad you welcome disagreement! A person really needs to hear from God, to have discernment to know what is what. The Holy Spirit leads us into all truth. So i suggest listening to what God says about this, listen to the Holy Spirit.❤
@@tiju.j no, that is not superstition, that actually happened. Do you believe that waving your hand and arm about in front of you does something? Do you wave your hand about in front of you, "making" the so-called "sign of the cross"? @@barrycharlesbrebner Yes, it does something. I'm proclaiming the death of Jesus on cross. I have no idea why you've quoted Matthew 16 here. So why is touching handkerchief not superstition? Whats your criteria for that? If I touch the relic of a saint today is that superstition? How about shadow of Peter healing people? Is shadow a thing?
@barrycharlesbrebner why do we see evangelicals waving their hands up during worship trying to catch the holy spirit. What's the difference? There are charisms and you can prompt the holy spirit.
Good stuff
I think you are right!
It’s a good thing to do and you have proved it’s Biblical!
Thank you, I always thought that it was just a Catholic practice!
Yeah I've been thinking about it for a long time

That's a very fair take on it. God bless you.

Sign of the cross isn't good. Is it an upside down cross?
I don't see that. It's an outward symbol of am inward grace. If you are Latin, it's engrained into your culture.
No it isn't

In Acts 19 people touching Paul's handkerchief got healing and deliverance. Is that superstition?
