And another great instalment about this car. It’s turning into a really big project, and a very interesting one too! I’m really enjoying watching it: thanks a lot!
Scary how an amateur has handled this engine in the past. Who the hell doesn't change the gasket when taking the rocker cover off? And the oil in both the gearbox and diff. Just unbelievable! I'm glad this car is now in your hands. Oh by the way, you forgot to mention about checking the oil filter for particles in the vid, you just binned in lol.
When the car came to us the gearbox was empty so we filled it up on the last video & road tested, and then we have done a gearbox service so its had a full flush in theory having had 2 oil changes.
What, if any, can help the cams live longer? More oil changes, easier driving, etc...? Nothing is more cringy than seeing dirty engines on YT, and the tech appearing oblivious to it.
Regular oil changes I would recommend every4k And regular driving as mad as that sounds, I don’t think these m156 like to be sat still al the oil drains off the cams and buckets. I might do a m156 buyers guide
Mandatory top end rebuild, fuel injectors serviced more than spark plugs, multiple places where the block is bonded together with sealant that can likely all leak, headbolts snapping off at the heads on the early ones (hopefully all have been sorted by now)..... Give me an M113/133k ALL day! M156 is still a wonderful thing, just a very scary thing hahaha
Now I know why Matt always has gearbox service done. Top job guys.

Thanks for the discount code, ordered the cleaner to give it a go. Great videos keep them coming.
Great video, guys ! Got to say i did not know about the oil cooler so if we get more in thats getting drained. We will be awaiting pt4
I've been running out of vids as I've been seeing them all, so I have saved the best for close to last! Props to you all for the work ya'll do!
More parts more contents is what we want thanks SPR 🎉

are these as reliable as the old v8 like the m113?
unfortunately they are not, nothing will ever be as reliable as the m113, best v8 MB built.
