yep! i'm a trans guy and i wore a skirt to school one day and got dress coded by multiple different teachers who didn't say anything to the cis girl in the class whose skirt was literally the exact same length as mine

Not even on the same level, but I remember this happening all the time for me as a cis girl in middle school and high school. I was the ugly girl basically so I would get in trouble for having longer legs causing my shorts to be a centimeter or so above my knees while all the popular girls would be wearing crop tops and booty shorts. It was absolutely ridiculous how blatant the discrimination was with how stringent they were with the dress codes with some people while others could almost get away with anything. I’m really sorry about your experience with dress code discrimination.

Something something about sexual insecurity, the sexualization of "femininity", the patriarchy, etc... ☹

@@BiggieChungulus You don't think sexual insecurity, sexualization of "femininity" or the patriarchy are real issues?

When I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond there was a ~55 year old guy I worked with whose nipples were always hard and protruding through his shirt. Every single day. And he always wore very tight and light colored shirts. It was uncomfortably obvious, especially because he was tall, so anyone under 5’10” was basically at eye level with his surprisingly dark for a white guy nipples, which were ALWAYS hard and visible.
Guess who never got written up or sent home for dress code.

Honestly, most dress codes beyond the bare minimum exist solely to reinforce some kind of arbitrary social hierarchy or other nonsense, not to serve any practical purpose.

YES, this is why I boy mode. It really is a shame that we live in an era where trans bodies are subjected to this double standard especially if you don’t pass in the traditional sense. I can go to the beach and run completely shirtless and everyone is fine with it and because I have abes it’s even given supportive comments by other cis dudes that are also running and see me out there getting a good run in. Little would they know I’m in the early parts of my transition. Yet, if I actually show less and cover up with a Nike sports bra it’s now sexualized or of poor taste. Like……. How does that make sense if my dude tits are out fine…. But if I cover them up…. Now it’s wierd lol. I’m surprised with the outfits some female coworkers can wear in work settings and I support it sense we should feel liberated in our bodies but I know I have to present masculine regardless of how far I’ll get into my journey because that’s just what’s expected. I think with the lgbt movement this will eventually fade as a distant memory of a darker time but for now it’s just one of the things we need to normalize overtime

have you ever thought your way of self expression could be viewed to others as inappropriate/disturbing in a learning environment? I don't see why you can't just wear regulated clothing to school/work and then wear whatever you want outside of school/work, genuine question and not meant to hate
