Out of all the DIY creepers I've seen, this is definitely the one that looks the most durable, well-built, comfortable and likely to survive the shockwave from a nuclear weapon.
Heck yes big fella. Super over kill on the welding...I feel ya there. If you sandwich your padding materials with plywood and clamps you can use scissors to shape it.
And next time on sawdust is life we explain what a herniated disk in your back is and how to make the same creeper of alum. lol nice build and thanks for sharing
Actually, I like that idea. Since I made this I've learned to tig weld aluminum and there are a couple things about the design that I want to change. That's going on my to do list. 👍

I made one that is not heavy and is very light with 6 inch wheels and will take 500 pounds, The axels are 3/4 inch threaded rod 18 inches long.. very strong but still light. The deck is 3/4 inch plywood.. Works very well.
The one from Northern Tool is no different than HF and it broke at the seams and folded. That’s why I am here, looking for ideas. Nice job. I’ll probably use spray in bed liner to give it a softer feel.
I & also very new to welding & have that same harbor freight flux core welder. Ur welds look extremely professional compared to mine lol. Thx for the vid i plan on making one of these here later today
I Love it, maybe round off the caster mounts or rubber but way cool, I am old, retired, and semi-disabled from a couple strokes in 15' and 18'. I recently got an F250 SD 4D 4X4, and a 2002 toy hauler camper I am rebuilding, and I am 280-300 lbs. I need an all-terrain HD creeper, is this for SALE? Or just the complete frame and plans?
On this one I think the casters are too small to be all terrain. I find it sticks sometimes on cracks in the cement. One of these days I'm going to build a version two with much larger casters and hopefully an aluminum frame. While this thing has held up very well, it is pretty heavy to carry around.
Great work! yours is heavy duty to lay an elephant on it. I bought 1 1/2 * 1 1/2* 1/8 angles to build one myself. I am wondering whether 1/8 thick metal is strong enough to make the side ears for casters holding 250 pounds of weight after seeing yours at least 3/16 thickness.
@@BitsandWood Thank you for your reply! I just built my yesterday with 2 *2 *3/16 angle irons. I chose 3/16 over 1/8 since I feel it is much stronger. I put my wheels below the angles. It is 40*20 in size. When I put a piece 16 inches wide 3/4 plywood in the middle, it has 2 inches of room for tools on both sides along the whole length. I do not plan to put any padding on, but I plan to paint it later.
Rubberized rocker guard would have been great for the effect you wanted, instead of the plastic dip, and it's permanent. You can find it at any auto place, or Walmart, Costco, almost anywhere really.
Then to cut the foam you should have laid a piece of plywood with a straight edge on it and knelt on it which would squished it down, then used a utility knife not just the blade and you could run it along the straight edge of the plywood and get a nice straight cut.
Do you have a video for those 90 degree supports you used under the plywood when you were cutting it? The design is obviously simple but I’m curious on tips for use and lessons learned using them. I current cut on 1 inch hard foam insulation but I’d love something smaller.
,great job I am.like you a husky guy I do have a idea on the finish look at rusteluom hammerite paint I used the green hammerite paint on my air compressor on my truck it held up.well if I did scratch feather the scratch and look good give a texture finish and 2 coats of clear

Looks like your using flux core wire....that best thing you can do to improve your welds is grind or wire brush the metal where you intend to weld till it’s shiny....clean clean clean metal is the best

I haven't tried 1/8", but I think if you had a gusset or two on it, it would be plenty strong.

You need to slow down when you're Welding. You are going way to fast and rushing it.
