Thanks for the video. Everything I needed to know and see to get this done on our 2007 Saturn Outlook. I replaced the entire thermostat housing since it did not cost much more to buy a whole new factory-identical AC Delco unit with gasket and bolts. Only issue I had was getting a torque wrench on the lowest 10mm housing bolt, but I winged it and figure it should be fine as those three mounting bolts are inch pounds, not foot pounds. Anyways, appreciate this very much. Saved me $600.
💯💯QUICK NOTE EVERYONE, REPLACE THE WHOLE THING , THE AFTERMARKET THERMASTATS BY THEMSELVES IS MISSING A RUBBER RING LIKE THE ORIGINAL HAS, I REPLACED 3 TIMES B4 THEY CAME OUT WITH THE WHOLE HOUSING UNIT WITH IT ATACHED, CAR WOULD ALWAYS RUN A LIL OVER HALF WAY MARK UNTILL I FIGURED IT OUT.......... MELTED HOSE CONECTORS IN PROCESS
Great Video 👍 so I got a new (1yr old) radiator on my 2012 GMC acadia & there's no leaks & plenty of GMC orange coolant. My acadia gets HOT in about 7 to 10 min. I'm assuming the thermostat isn't opening? Right? & the Heat on full blast doesn't work. On 90 degrees & full blast & no heat, just "reg" temp air.
@@8701Alexcamilo so, I did the job the next day and, (for anyone interested) most of the aftermarket thermostats come with a little heavy duty toilet paper roll-type cardboard, which is the tools used to remove the thermostat. It's is basically any item used to depress the spring on both sides .
That's WAY 2 much. I got a new radiation replacement for 750$ & they charged me another 150$ to replace the thermostat & that's in Chicago. Independent mechanic/shop. DON'T go to the stealership
Agree with the others who have replied to you. I am replacing my second thermostat on my 2011 Acadia (300kmes). Unless it is damaged there’s no reason to replace the housing assembly. I got mine from ADVANCED AUTO.
@@angelbautista533 seeing all the comments asking how to get the actual thermostat out, seems like my time is worth the extra 60 lol. Plus you get a brand new housing out of it

There was no/zero need to disconnect the battery for this at all. Save yourself some time, and skip that step.

Make sure theres no air in the system
No mention of tools used or even bolt sizes. This guide is seriously lacking
If you can’t figure that out for yoself take it to a shop🤣🤣
What are those pliers he used to compress the thermostat
@@KedrickDavis-n2h maybe we’re trying to learn so we save 1600$? Ever think about that?
@@michaelmartinez9602 good question
I’d like to point out that the floor mat over the battery cover did NOT start off the video with a greasy footprint 😂
What does that explain to us viewers Detective Dave? LMFAO!! Good catch.
What’s the tool that you used to get the thermostat out with ?
May I ask what is the name of the tool used to take thermostat out
Appreciate the video but you can't tell us one size bolt but you can tell us the pressure of how much torque to put back in bolts that's crazy man
The jiggle pin stays at 12 position even after being installed all the way?
I paid $600 2 yrs ago to have it replaced for my 2014 gmc acadia
That's about right...local dealer in CA wanted the same for parts + labor.
What tool do you use to take the thermostat out bro I've used pliers pinchers can't get it out
10 mm
What the hell was the special tool you used to remove the thermostat from the housing and how could you just brush past that step?
Thinking the same

Thanks buddy. We'll done
You show step by step but skip over how and what you do to actually remove the thermostat
Cannot remove thermostat. Wtf Ate you Using
Me too do I need a special tool to remove thermostat
There's a cardboard cylinder that comes with the new thermostat, it is the tool to remove and install the thermostat to the housing
Two screw drivers

This is more of showing it getting done not really a how to.
Worked for me. Shows you everything you need to get it done.
Nah. Voice over ruined this video.
