I was all set to go out on Tuesday morning, I live on the isle of man very close to the local harbour and 2 piers in castletown but we had a blanket of snow overnight and I just can't handle that kinda cold on my back anymore 20 years ago I'd have been out there but I thought I'd spend a couple hours in the pub on the harbour instead, it's called the gluepot cuz you get stuck in there. If you get the opportunity I'm sure you'd enjoy the fishing over here. We held the tope land record for a couple years caught at the point of Ayre beach up north, it was 66lb and 14oz I think. @@rickyfinn2763

Have you ever tried using the planers as downriggers? That's the way we use it, with their own line to a cleat of the boat, it's very effective and easier than removing the planer off the line while fighting a big fish

Do you ever fish lures like the Nomad DTX minnow for wahoo? The large sizes are the go-to trolling lures for wahoo on the West Coast. They dive up to 40 feet and are ready on wahoo as well as tuna and dorado.
Oh my gosh Vic, I wish I could reach right through the screen from up here in Canada. I have had Mahi-Mahi when in the Caribbean and it's a lovely fish. I have also enjoyed Barracuda. But I have never tasted Wahoo. I am so jealous!

Why do people call em dolphin fish 🐟 i always thought Durado is more apt because the reality does look golden and beautiful rich green. Have you seen GT jump and take bird's on any of your trips? I think i saw footage on David Attenborough documentary i couldn't believe they actually take birds in flight 😳

Mahi are definitely overrated tbh. Just like everyone also raves over red snapper, buttt 5lb mangroves are pretty accessible and just as good, if not better lol. Then people hate on bluefish, but it's absolutely delicious.

You make it look easy. Those 4-6 foot seas aren't easy. Lots of prep and time on the stern to have a decent day. Then the fish have to be cooperative. Good work though. Paradisebill.
I don't think you've ever mentioned before that dolphin / mahi are "dangerous", and I've never seen you put them directly in ice because they are dangerous... but you did not explain WHY / HOW they are dangerous.
I can't stand any seafood whatsoever... no memory as a child ever eating a single fish stick... I must have blown it all over the table and parent said, "don't ever give him fish again". Everyone else in the family ate fish. I grew up in Pompano Beach / N. Miami / Ft. Lauderdale and did a lot of fishing though... I wish I could fish for cows and chickens and turkeys... (provided they didn't have gills and still ate grass) then I'd be fishing every day like you... lol.
