Historic Six Bedroom Victorian House Moves to a New Home in San Francisco

- After 139 years at 807 Franklin St., the house was making its move down the street and around the corner to a new home on Fulton Street. According to the San Francisco Historical Society it was the first time a Victorian had moved in 50 years, and nobody wanted to miss it.

Great video! With construction beginning in May 1880, this house is 140 years old. Minor detail, I know, but everyone seems to be cheating this beauty of her due credit. Tessa McLean got it right in her SFGate article:
People that doesn't live in the Bay would never understand just how big those are and if I wasn't working I would have had to cross the bridge to go take a few videos and footage ✌️

Wow that is crazy and for people that don't know or understand how big those old Victorian style homes are in Frisco would be amazed seeing it come down the roads inside the city like freaking Godzilla no BS

Incredible, but true. The only question that arises: "where are the foundations of the building?"
The structure is supported by metal beams. They're easy to see; under the building. That's standard practice in moving large structures. 😐
they build a new one holding the house in the air using railroad ties stacked like jenga blocks while the foundation is fabricated under it as its suspended in the air.

I guess the owner didn't want the location of the new address shown for privacy concern. It will be interesting to see in a years time or so when Google street view updates those streets. You will be able to see the house vanish.

New home is not a great location .. Egads
How many open lots are there available in SF? I suspect the owner found a broken down house that didn't have much historical value and tore it down to fit this one. Plus you have to find a property that this house will fit into that is close by as well. Variables that probably don't come up all that often.

I'm in Chicago, and they've done this here. I don't know why go through all the trouble, isn't it easier to just sell and buy a new home. I can't imagine moving such a building costs less than $50k. Unless you're moving to a more expensive zip code to make a profit, I don't get it.

I was wondering similar. Is it JUST the truck pulling or does each set of wheels under the house have driving/braking ability? Especially as right after they make the first turn it looks like it goes downhill a bit.
