Okay. I've watched every episode with an eagerness of waiting for a Game of Thrones episode. Now that it is complete, I have to say that I'm bloody knackered! Next time, I'm getting the bus. You know, as we get older, especially into the 50's and the 60's, one's perspective changes. Things we once considered important, no longer hold so anymore. Perhaps, it could be the sense of dwindling mortality as we age that we place ourselves on the fringe of a world we no longer recognise. A purposeful withdrawal for the sake of our own sanity? Turning to that which has remained pretty much the same as it was during our childhood, the landscape, which thankfully we do recognise with the same ambient memories. Well done, Glenn. This has been an excellent mini series.

Ever thought about doing a podcast as another thing? Your narration is articulated so well.
I am not looking for sympathy or anything, but I do not have any friends, so watching your videos gives me the urge to get out and about.
Tried many times to make friends but sadly nothing ever happens.
Watching your videos is like watching a friend on their walks ❤

I kind of bit my tongue when we chatted about water, but (and bear in mind, there's nowt wrong with just drinking mineral spring water) but bottled mineral water will also have flouride in it, and often at higher levels than tap water.
I do find it a bit odd that people say stuff about the things we add to treat tap water, and then buy bottled water that has the same things dissolved in it naturally.
But hey (and hopefully this doesn't sound arsey, I genuinely mean it), if it makes people feel better and doesn't hurt anyone else I'm all for it!

"Tail end Charlene" here. Wouldn't have wanted to miss your hilarious bullock "en cow nter" and the stampede. You had me in fits of laughter. Thanks for that.
I shouldn't laugh though. Last year I was more than half way up a Bavarian 1700 mtr mountain when some massive Galloway bullocks came down the path. They had managed to get out of their enclosure. As there had been signs on gates to watch out for cows and co, I decided to be a coward and walk back down again.
Looking forward to your next adventure.

Tap water down here in Hampshire is loaded with minerals because of the chalk bedrock it comes from. Always notice how much softer the water is in the lakes and other places. Maybe not much of benefit for drinking but then you don't get lime scale problems like we do!

I think it’s obvious that the farmers north of Ulverston don’t want the Cumbria Way passing their way and actively make it as difficult as possible. Did you know that displaying a “bull in field” sign when there isn’t a “bull in field” is an offence and if reported the farmer can be instructed to remove it?

Hi Glenn, what a series this has been to watch. A great journey with lots of info and such a laugh.
I will be doing this walk one day, may be next summer, but to carlisle as that's home.
On the bottled water subject, we as a family drink bottled water. Never from the tap with all the chemicals in. After a few months of doing this you realise how much it dumbs down the senses. When out walking on multiday hikes I always filter from streams.
What's the next long distance hike for your self sir?
    Thanks for sharing.
    Great as always.

I just finished watching every minute of your incredible journey along the Cumbria Way, and I have to say, it was absolutely captivating! From the very first step to the final destination, your videos transported me right into the heart of the stunning English countryside. 🌿
The way you captured the natural beauty of the Lake District, the rolling hills, peaceful valleys, and those breathtaking vistas-wow, just wow! It felt like I was right there walking alongside you, experiencing the serene landscapes and the ever-changing weather. Your attention to detail in showcasing the scenery made it easy to appreciate every moment of the journey.
I also loved how you shared the little moments along the way-the friendly encounters, the cozy hotels, and those hidden gems that only someone truly immersed in the experience could discover. It’s clear that you put a lot of heart and effort into these videos, and it really shines through.
My partner and I are actually planning to move to Cumbria within the next twelve months, and Cockermouth is one of the areas we’re considering. Any hints or tips you could share would be invaluable as we prepare for this big step!

I so enjoyed these five days. Wonderful views, super meals, especially loved the breakfasts! I really enjoyed the walks along the banks of the lakes and seeing the villages was very cool. So different from where I live. And walking through the fields, amazing that you are allowed to do that. The last few fields with the bullocks and cows, it was rather funny to see the bullocks chasing you.
I also found it very interesting to see the different types of gates and stiles, and I did feel like I was walking through the gate and climbing on the stile with you. Very cool!

Hello, I’m new to your channel. But I wanted you to know that I watched every single second of this trip with you. I learned a lot about you. I learned about what you like to do, a little bit about how you think, about your past relationships, I got to meet your son, and you’re quite an enjoyable fellow. I’m an American, female, 68 years old, married, and I cannot hike. I’ve never really hiked. I’ve always had a few medical problems that prevented me from doing it. But I am thoroughly and completely enjoying your hikes. They mean the world to me. I’m an amateur photographer and I truly can see when you talk about composing pictures. What you’re talking about I know not everybody gets it about the lighting and the basic composition but it’s so nice to see a common think. I do have a few questions if you don’t mind answering on your next hike. I employ you to print off this comment so you get them all answered because I’m intensely curious. First of all, I will tell you I am from the Wilds of Pennsylvania. I live in a village of 300 people as retired person, I’ve lived in big cities and I’ve lived in small cities and medium cities across the United States. If I hike in my woods outside my door, I would be turning my head constantly looking for predators. I would be looking on the ground for snakes, I would be looking for bears, bobcat, coyotes, you name it. Of course I find the biggest predator to be a human and I get very nervous when I see another one in the woods. I’m not even sure what country you’re in which makes me sound very naïve. I’m assuming somewhere in Britain. so my questions are do you have any predator animals that you’re afraid of while you’re walking? Do you feel like the trails are well marked and your maps are well developed and kept up to the current situation? Do you worry about whether places are open up in the towns, you pass through as to whether you can replenish your water or get a bite to eat? Do you ever kick yourself repeatedly for not getting that photograph that you knew would sell? Do you find hiking alone, more enjoyable than hiking with a companion? I guess I’ll leave it at that for now, but I want you to know that you sell yourself short. You’re quite enjoyable fellow and I’m sure there’s an enjoyable female out there somewhere. You just need to hike and find her. I hope I didn’t bore you with this long thing be sitting in my chair, nursing my bum leg, but I do appreciate your videos and I do hope that you keep making them. Good luck and all your endeavors. Thank you again.

I do get exactly what you're talking about regards the headspace that these natural places offer Glen. We are meant to be out in these places and the more that enjoy it responsibly the better. The wife and I are out at least once a week on a hike somewhere and we've only done that with such frequency since the start of this year. We set it as a challenge to get out every set of our rest days from work, for a proper hike. I've not missed one yet despite some injuries along the way. And I've loved it. Just been booking some adventures for the rest of this year last night with some pals and some others with the missus. It balances out my life outside of my stressful job. Think I'd lose it eventually if I spent all my free time in the house. Lol.

Really enjoyed your walk down the Cumbria Way. Its very relaxing walking along with you. I was born in Cumbria and it remains my favourite part of the country that I don't see enough of these days. Definitely my happy place. My favourite part is the gates I just love the variety of states of repair and the colourful bits of sting holding them shut. Call me mad but I have many pictures from my own walks of these falling apart rickety gates.
Hope you do some more longer walks always good to see different parts of the county. 😊 Also I really don't like fields of cows either.🐄 they're fine on the other side of the fence 😱

Enjoyed this series thanks. Love the Cumbria Way such a lovely trail, walked most of it in May. No bulls 😀. Would you consider doing the whole mountain variant? I guess you’ve done those peaks already.

Oh my goodness! The end of your epic walk was the best episode! We laughed and laughed as you handled the bullocks…but I understand your dilemma! When I was a small girl my sister and I decided to enter a field with a bull, thinking it would ignore us- but it did not! It charged us, my sis fell and I ran back to help her up and over the fence just in time! Yikes! These memories never go away… that was over 60 years ago and we both still remember that bit of foolishness! These long adventures you go on are just lovely-and yes, so much fun! Thank you😁👍

Nice video again. Fully get your trepidation about walking through fields of cows. My wife and I had a very, very close call when we were chased by Holstein- Friersian cows at Malham Cove. I could hurdle walls then, not now though. I'm sure that in the last 10 years or so, there's more cows about in the Lakes District.

We are Nature, so it makes sense that we feel amazing when we're out in Nature🌟
The tap water around where we live in Kent is awful, gives me stomach ache. Our solution is to use Elite or Noble Shungite (crystal) to pufity the water...you can taste the difference, it's like the water is softer 😀
Adding a pinch of the pure salt to your water is amazing...or a couple of flakes (of the Celtic) under the tongue 👍
    Really enjoy your videos 😀👍🌟✨💛

Just awesome, including your fear of coos..(sorry but hilarious). I am so sad that is all over. What an adventure! Thank you for sharing a route I will never do myself. I actually got a little tear and a lump in my throat when you reached the end. :D

Love my Sundays. Peak District hike in the morning on my own, then a Lake District hike in the evening with Glenn. Km is good, I think most of us hike in km.

Hi Glenn I've enjoyed the whole series & your videos are so detailed that I really do feel like I did it with you. Not the sort of days that you could fit into a 30 minute video. Great stuff.

Have just found your channel and I am thoroughly enjoying seeing the beautiful Lake District through your camera lens. Would love to do some of these walks but unfortunately it’s not possible for me. Also loving your little dog.❤

You didn't mention the old 16thC Coniston Hall building you passed by the camp site, used to stay there as a kid with Mrs Inman & family in the 60's.
Great coverage of the Cumbrian Way, I was brought up in Ulverston.

We love going on the walks with you, wine glass in hand 😊. We feel every mile, climb over every stile and check those gates are locked. Strange we did even have smellivision last night as the smell of muck spreading wafted gently through the house 🐄

Although I laughed at the cow escapades, I am exactly the same. I have been followed by a herd of bullocks, been charged at by a cow with calf.
Farmers tell you not to run and to make yourself as boring as possible but that’s easier said than done when several ton of cow is hurtling towards you!
I have walked miles and miles out of my way avoiding cow fields.

I'm lucky, I get my water from a spring. I bought a glass drinking bottle for taking out with me, a little pinch of sea salt and a little pinch of bicarb, supposed to help retain the nutrients ..also plumps your cells...I also fill glass jar with tap (you can buy online) and i keep it in the fridge..I'm lucky to have a spring near me 😊
