Hip-hop/urban soul supergroup Lucy Pearl was formed in the summer of 1999 as the brainchild of Tony! Toni! Toné multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Raphael Saadiq (formerly known as Raphael Wiggins), who left the band he co-founded with his brother D'Wayne in 1998. Saadiq first contacted DJ Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest, which had disbanded after their 1998 LP The Love Movement, and then ex-En Vogue member Dawn Robinson, who had originally departed that group for a solo career in 1997 but jumped at the chance to work with Saadiq and Muhammad. Relying a great deal on live instrumentation in addition to samples and turntable work (Muhammad even plays bass and guitar), Lucy Pearl issued its self-titled debut album in the spring of 2000. - เพลง

@@barrybestsong8644 q3
The whole album is a masterpiece. Such a shame things soured
There aint no exaggeration
Hell yeah

Yes!!! 🤩
Yeeah & also you should listen to 'dance' version of this masterpiece delivered by Fierce Angel 🎉
I thought I was the only one😂😂
90s kids forever
That rhythm, that bassline, those vocsls...22 years old yet incredibly addictive till date.
What happens when people get together to write a song - in 10, 20, 30 years later won't change the fact it is a good song. Thanks to TH-cam 🙌
Another underrated woman of the 90's.... Dawn was and still is one "FINE WOMAN"!!!! #GoodDay
Stunning and talented
well, great rhythm deffo
Why doesn’t this have more views? This song is a HIT.
Because we all watching the same song on different stations 🤣 that the only acceptable reason
Great hit and still it is in 2022. Timeless . ❤️😘👍🎵🎶
Raphael Saadiq is a musical genius
Billal is the best
Along with Ali Shaheed from ATCQ
He's got a wonderful voice
Totally agree
Don't forget Ali Shaheed Muhammad
2021 and this tune hasn't lost an ounce of its appeal! Damn, i miss good R&B!
It’s aged so well 🙌🏽
🤏🏼🤌🏼SnApS🎶
Name me one song in the last 10 years that can compare? I'm waiting...
@@thesuncollective1475 Get You by Daniel Caesar is better.
There's plenty of good R&B songs comparable lol
Underrated song
I am a little obsessed with the music around 1998 - 2001. Brings back too many good feelings of being a late teen. Bittersweet.
Me to
Yess! Me too
I'm 83' so same vibe
I prefer 1977 to 1984, and early 1990s, but this period would be my third choice.
Yes. My college days & just beginning to really find & express myself. 😭 Take me back!!
This was from the time the Neo-Soul period in the mid-late 90's with Lucy Pearl, Erika Badu, D'Angelo, Jill Scott, Maxwell and so many others. Beautiful times...where did it go?
Seriously! I blame Rap for this. I love hip-hop but it completely obliterated all other genera in black culture.
@@volb9817 wrong right up 90's is was very clear there were different genres, what went wrong was the internt as made people idiots,
we back day, would listen to radio, top of pops, MTV, tapes, go to music shops to listen to music, vinyl, going to see live music, the list goes on,
it was real social thing
this was year 2000... not mid 90s
@@skurinski (1) I stated that the Neo-soul was from the mid-late 90’s, not the song itself. Even though the year 2000 is clearly not the 90s, i meant that it still came from the same musical era. Thanks for your correction.
I thought so too but it actally was released in 2000.... end of an aera!
What an Intro! Bass, electric guitar... A full 36 seconds, I can put it on repeat the whole day...
Anyone still giving yo this epic tune in 2023? Dawn Robinson = Queen!
Listening to this in MAY2024 still my fav fiesty Lucy you the best❤❤
Dawn Robinson always sounds good. No matter what she is singing.
@Jarrel Ely it'd be up their alley, but probably not
@Jarrel Ely Maybe, just maybe.
And looks damn fine, too!
I thank God who has given me the opportunity to live and believe in the 90s, the best era of music. I loved this group, I miss R&B
Dawn Robinson is a vibe....she just makes you wanna sing and dance.
Lucy Pearl was simultaneously short lived and timeless ❤️
damn beats so much better than todays music.
By FAR 🤗
Preach 🎉😊
Dawn is beautiful and talented she sang lead on some of En Vogue biggest hits.
How about that one from "Set it Off"?
2020 anyone? 🙌🏽
Days gone 😊
Hell yeah! 🙌🏽
Absolutely!
Yesssss!!
all real music lover here :P
Dawn was so underrated, but she was one of my favorites from the 90s.
Dawn was not underated. She was bad as hell and everyone knew that! Everyone/Everything that didn't blow up can't be considered underated. They're tell different things.
@@DavidKen878 She was very underrated
@@DavidKen878 Bad meaning?
DAWN was NOT underrated....She was a Musical Goddess! All of En Vogue holds that status.....Lucy Pearl was an Amalgamation of the GREATS of the Industry. it is sad it ended as it did. But Super groups go down like that...too much ego, too much money (to split) and too much publicity!
Back when the music was epic and the world was a better place
No wonder the powerful female voice sounded so familiar. Whenever I hear her it brings back 1996/97 (Don't let go). Now I know why. She's from En Vogue.
+Fadzli Faudzi Dawn Robinson Is the name.
subbed you back my friend thanks
Fadzli Realtor yup dawn
joe tate that’s the Dawn Phife Dog from ATCQ had that crush on. “It’s not like honey dip would try to get with me/ but just in case, I’ve got more condoms than TLC”
Yep en vogue legend n don't forget the guy on the guitar that's Raphael Sadiq from Toni Tony Toné
2024 n still banger ❤❤❤

pamela ingram Raphael Saadiq is, to be fair.

I feel so bad for kids these days. They will never know what it’s like to have so much new good music on the radio.
So much soulless rap songs now...

Class. Raphael Saadiq deserves greater recognition
I love her style!!
Shes one of the singer of En Vogue !!
Bloody hell, this is still as hot as the first time I heard it.
I remember this song from when i was a child. I am now discovering that the people behind it were the amazing talents i would later grow up loving. We must be thankful that we had songs like that in our youth.
TLPStar in the house 2024 ❤
First time I’ve heard of her , and accidentally ran across her music…not disappointed at all 🔥🔥
That bassline is something else.
The biggest En Vogue hit that never was, Cindy, Terry & Max would've ate the harmonies and bg vocals up. Still jamming
raphael saadiq was instrumental for this groups production, they had some good stuff, jammin' in 2020!
This album is perfect even today.

Dawn at her finest, one of her best solo efforts.

This song was bomb back in early 2000´s they still play it on the radio. Back when you use to listen to the radio I always wonder where they went? Make a comeback.

Man, I used to blast this song back to back. Had that cassette tape on repeat. Ugh, Dawn!!😭
Dawn is so beautiful and talented...
2021!! J’adore toujours autant !!!
I’ve finally reunited with this song after 23 long years! I was only 5 when it came out. It was a popular song when the parents and aunts and uncles got together for parties 😂 good memories ❤ 💯
Oooofff still sounds so good nearly 2 decades later 💃🏼👍
the drum and bass really snap in this song! the quick off beat licks of the guitar right before the kick drum hits gives that special accent on the rythm and I love it😝
Yes omg I don't hear before so good
2022,still bumping Lucy Pearl
Randomly this group was in my head lol. I was typing in Google, En Vogue and Toni Toni lol #LucyPearl Iconic moment 😍🥰❤
