Woah commenters. I LOVE this guys chatter and tutorial. If I'm going to do this I want to do it once and get it right. The more info the better to avoid mistakes. He's a teacher and not a talker.
Thanks for the videos on this. The wife was out of town when this took a crap in the X5. After a locksmith let her back in she decided not to take it to the stealership and let me fix it when she got home. She managed to unlock the gas cap thru another video. Thanks for the time... Problem fixed. $25
Thankyou soooo much for making this video, same thing just happened to me luckily i managed to open it and not get locked out, i cant even lock the car until the new parts im ordering come. but thanks so much for this video :)
I fixed it. You're suppose to face the broken part towards the place holder. And press the rod against the spring firmly then push the place holder inside.
Never got back to finish it. The spring re-insertion is tricky and I ended up breaking all the new tumbler parts so I have to re-order a new kit. I will return to this complete this DIY when I get time off work during Memorial Day weekend. I will do another video then as well

Thanks for the video bro but just gotta lessen the talking down a little. You will get more done. We know its dirty in there lol we know all these things and defiantly appreciate the walk through but just giving a little constructive criticism on how to make your videos shorter and more bareble to watch.
I have 2 pieces of advice for you. 1. Watch this video. It's a simple repair. "BMW E46 Door Key Lock Repair DIY" 2. Find a good mechanic...and that "stuff" is grease.
Just want to thank you, i did not find any video on how to get the lock out. Thank you, saved me a lot of money
