That's what happened to me when I first heard Dimash. He sang "The Love of Tired Swans". There was a concert on TV, I was cooking and watching the screen sometimes. When the girl sang, I thought why she wasn't announced, but I saw one Dimash. And I couldn't believe my ears. The second song was right after this one, TH-cam offered the "Adagio" Singer, and I was gone...Life was divided into BEFORE and AFTER💗💗💗

Love “Olimpico”, but it shows him only from the operatic side, not as a crossover artist, imho.

While this is an epic showing of his entire range, it is still all operatic and forte. SOS affords opportunities for him to show dynamics and other styles of music. You can't go wrong with either. He is just amazing.
THE BEST SONG FOR THE BEST SINGER IN THE WORLD
S.O.S is the first song anyone should hear by Dimash. Especially from his performance on The Singer 2017. I say this because if you listen to his music beginning with those performances on Singer, you can see how his voice and stage presence continues to develop becoming what they are today. Beginning with Olympico is like going backward. There are many versions of Dimash singing SOS, but when he was on The Singer is when he was introduced to the world outside of the Slavic countries. Just my opinion. If you go thru his performances on The Singer 2017, you'll understand what I mean. He was 22, only spoke Kazakh and Russian, and sang his first four songs in French, Russian, English, and Mandarin. With each performance, his language skills continued to improve. Thank You. I love your reactions and comments regarding Dimash...they almost match mine.

Ogni Pietra in Italian and "Olimpico" in English was written by Ukrainian /Russian composer Igor Krutoy especially for Dimash voice and to be performed during the Opening Ceremony of the II European Games in Minsk in 2019 and it was the first collaborative work which composer Igor Krutoy and Russian poetess Liliya Vinogradova This is an inspiring song to encourage athletes to find their inner power to compete. Dimash performed the song with his powerful and beautiful voice, between soprano and tenor ranges. Stunning!!! ❤️🎤🌹🌹👏👏👏👏👏
I'll never forget the debut of this song. We (Dimash's fanbase that had been gathering on youtube and in online fan sites for 2 years) had been listening to Dimash's entire catalogue to that point. We knew that Igor Krutoy, after seeing Dimash perform "Sinful Passion" at Igor's New Wave Festival, had come out of retirement to compose new songs for Dimash. We knew that Igor had offered Dimash to pick any 3 songs from Igor's extensive back catalogue. Igor would re-arrange the 3 songs for Dimash while we waited for the new composition. Dimash picked "Love of Tired Swans", "Know" (Ascolta La Voce), and "Mademoiselle Hyde". Dimash introduced us Westerners to Igor's work for the first time when they performed the first of the 3 songs together, "Love of Tired Swans". We knew that Dimash had operatic training, and we knew that he would have trained to sing in Italian at a relatively young age.. But absolutely nothing in Dimash's catalogue was either operatic or Italian. We were expecting the new composition to be similar to the 3 songs Dimash had chosen from Igor's catalogue. We were given no reason to anticipate that Igor was composing an operatic song for Dimash, or Italian lyrics. We didn't even know what the name of the new song would be, but we knew it would debut during the opening ceremony of the European Games in Minsk, broadcast live around the world. Of course we were watching the broadcast! I can tell you with complete confidence that no one was ready for THIS! After 2 years of listening to Dimash's repertoire to that point, we were not prepared for THIS! I will never forget the sensations of the first time I heard Dimash's voice singing this song. It will always be one of my favorite memories in the 6+ years of the Dimash rabbit hole.
He performed this song at the pre-open European Olympic Games Event. This song was composed by his mentor Igor Krutoy. He sings this song in Italian. He is fantastic. Thank you for the great reaction.

Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. And yes, you’re right, here he sings in Italian.
This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. And I don't even mean the vocal part, but also his stage presence. The whole package. Oh wow I’m starting to rave again…🤤 Sorry but I can’t help it🥺. I swear it is mind-blowing 🤯. Dimash sang this song many times after this performance as well. But honestly, some things just don’t get any better. I think this is epic.
If you want to hear him sing without a mic at the end of a song, then I’ll recommend Autumn Strong from his Arnau concert in Kiew. He has classical as well as contemporary vocal training so he is able to sing powerful. He turned down an offer for an engagement at the Astana Opera because he didn't just want to sing opera.

Yes, it's in Italian and epic. It was written for the opening of the European Olympic Games. The message is too uplifting and encouraging to come from a villain. He's telling the Olympians how great they are, to believe in themselves, and give everything their best. I think of it as Zeus cheering them on, then having Athena weigh in on it. Krutoy knew that it would take two singers or one Dimash. It sounds to me like they roll r's in Kazakh, too, so he has edge there.
That's a very interesting perspective... I love Greek mythology and tying that in with the Olympic Games is so smart

Dimash calls S O S his ‘calling card’ and when he went to take part in I Am Singer in Chiba 2017 (where a lot of us first saw that song on you tube) he chose S O S to first show his talent, so I think he would choose this song for you to listen to first. But does it matter. Whatever is the first you hear, if you feel compelled to delve further into his catalogue, then he has dimashified you, lol.

Your reactions are wonderful. I am glad you used this particular video. When the video first came out, some commenters said he is playing Zeus and Hera, motivating the athletes. Hopefully you have found the subtitles in English. I love this performance because his costume reminds me of Mt Olympus and you see his arm movements. You see him get into character in the beginning and he looks exhausted at the end. Vocal athlete! That one lady looked like she was going to faint.
I too love his deep vocals and rolling Rs. For me, I Have to watch Dimash, not just listen. Near the end, he rocks side to side and it reminds me of when baby eagles are getting read to fledge (fly out of the nest the first time). Like he is going to leave Mt Olympus and go into the athletic competition.

I too, originally thought with the darker tone and outfit, Dimash looked like some sort of a super-villain! - Looking further into it, what I found really cool was that he's apparently portraying the both a God and Goddess (I think Zeus and Hera), urging mortals to do their best, and to excel in competition/sports...
...knowing this, makes everything make sense - his stirring voice, excellent lyrics (I'd advise putting English subs on!), stern stares at all of us mere mortals part-way through, commanding us to do our best), etc - and takes it up to an even more epic level!
Dimash absolutely nailed his part (of course!), sings absolutely beautifully, and it's SUCH a powerful performance, and a fantastic composition from Igor - makes you feel like you can take on the world!)...

Well in an interview Dimash commented that it was important or rather a form of respect towards the countries where he is going to do his concerts to be able to sing a song in his language country where you will perform. As the polite and respectful way towards the people os said countries. It says a lot about him as a person and his fantastic way of making people love him wherever he goes... I can understand why a Dear would think that this performance is is a good choice for a first time reaction. The large crowd shows right away that Dimash is not some backwoods hick, his vocal range is excellent here and his performance is epic. Also on average, men tend to become more "Dear-struck" from this performance whereas the women respond better to the higher more bell-like tones.🌹🎹🌹
I would never recommend this video first because I believe, most reactors would be put off by the heavy Opera voice vibes as too unfamiliar. Americains, as a culture, especially crave the familiar which is easily noticed as they are generally the only reactors that constantly compare. Also this video does not have the easy subtitle option in various languages. Many reactors need the more obvious octave changes in SOS or Stranger, to be drawn in as not all reactors have musical education.🥹 I generally recommend rockstar Dimash in SOS/2021 to Americain reactors. They live in an instant gratification world so often do not have the patience to wait for 9 pairs of singers to pass at the beginning of Stranger. Those with musical education, I recommend SOS/Slavic Bazaar and for those that are more emotionally motivated, I go for SOS/The Singer. SOS also helps the Dears to find new reactors.💐💐💐
I happen to adore this song, especially with captions to remind me of the inspiring lyrics. I love the crowd, lightsticks and the dancers that do the "Dance of Shiva" move. The heavy percussion also adds so much to this epic song. And of course, Dimash is such a magnificient "force of nature" as he personifies and projects the meaning of the lyrics like the prophet of music that he is.😍🙏😍

I must be a blip in your assessment. I am a 67 yr old American woman. I love Dimash. I do have many favorites, but Olimpico is my most favorite because of his rich baritone. This whole performance gives me goosebumps. He puts his whole being into it and looks exhausted at the end.

And technically Singer performance in SOS is more advanced than Slavic, and i prefer it in other respects too. 2021 is better for me as well.

SOS is predominantly the 1st song then “ Sinful Passion “ then “ Olympico “ ( usually )
I still say SOS should be watched first, as it gives a bit of pop, a bit of opera, a bit of his lower tone and of course his amazing high notes. But still not his highest as he can hit the whistle register too. But Olympico is one of my favorites.

I think the SOS song is much better as an introduction to Dimash, because it covers more styles, that he colors his appearances with. I love this song too, but it is distantly set in one style. I would call SOS a 'Sampler' type of song.

Great reaction. You are taking on a lot trying to absorb Dimash and Diana at the same time. I had a couple of years of Dimash before I "discovered" Diana. I actually learnt of Diana last year through comments attached to Dimash videos. I believe this performance is in the national stadium in the capital of Kazahkstan so a huge production and home crowd. Someone once commented that 45,000 tickets were sold many to foreigners who came for this concert.

VERY STEADY CLEAR SHOT!!! He is in an MJ type outfit, and while DQ is always electrifying, in THIS PERFORMANCE HE WAS THE MOST ELECTRIFYING and SUPER CHARGED OF ALL!!
