AAM makes a replacement "KIT"! Comes with a new nut, washer, crush sleeve and both seals. That way you don't screw your customer and do only half the seal.
Well it's not screwing anybody, it's not a seal it's a dust boot. The reason that the seal fails to begin with is because dirt gets caught between the boot and the seal and tears it up. But thanks for the info. You do realize that a crushly requires completely disassembling the entire axle and pulling out the carrier and the pinion right?.
@@MegaMarclar I do realize the install of the sleeve. It's just part of the kit which no one uses. But the Dust boost as you put is in fact a dust boot and a wear sleeve as well which renews the surface for the new seal to ride on. Just saying.
Well this would be much more difficult to do in a driveway. Typically replacing the seal solves the leak depending on how bad it was. A lot of the times what you'll see is the seal will actually machine a groove into the yoke. At that point you can either install a speedy sleeve or just replace the yolk. There is also a inner seal that is attached to the yoke side. Typically what happens is dirt gets in between the two seals and just destroys them. It was a good design on paper but it turned out to be counter productive.
@@MegaMarclar yeah idk how much different the dana axles are made but these aam basically a guaranteed leak for front pinion seal. Hoping mine isnt grooved that would suck
@@DSGB2199 there's really not much difference The main difference though is that the AAM has an external seal on the yolk itself. The problem is dirt gets trapped in between the two and it just destroys the seal.
I have same truck. 05 ram 2500 Cummins my rear axle pinion seal is leaking. Will this national 710558 seal work for the rear axle aswell?? Thank you great video btw! 👌
Never overtighten, never use an impact when on an inch lbs preload bearing, this video should be taken down,he did so much wrong,I hope those watching this video do their research.
Yeah like in the other comment you're talking about an ideal fairy tale world. Also you're not going to be able to accurately measure inch pounds without completely disassembling the axle housing down to the pinion, which nobody does. It is tried and true method of marking the nut position on the yoke, pretty much every shop does it this way including axle builders. But again thanks for the input but nobody does it that way
Nice video very helpful
Pull the boot back on the slip, and spray some luiquid wrench silicon spray. This will help a lot..👍👍👍
