Well Michael you are nothing short of a genius ! I'm from the UK and I'm in the Police Service over here and been wanting to shine my boots to impress my sergeant and inspector on my first day in Feb. I've been trying to shine my Force issued steel toe caps and it just wouldn't work ! Until I found your video ! Thank you very much Michael ! Chris.
Thinking is really helpful.....using the blow dryer really makes it shin a lot more I really recommend this video to everyone tht wants to polish their boots
Strip the boots with Dawn soap. Let dry. Dye the leather to restore the color. Apply leather cream to moisturize. Then apply THIN coats of wax and a tiny drop of water with panty hose.
My dude I really I appreciate your help I had the same model boots as you but every method I tried wouldn't work and this video you made has really helped out a lot so thank you really much. You made my inspections less hard. Thank you.
Thank you so much Micheal! I have never shined boots before and you made my very first time a success! Yes! I have under armor boots and they look so sweet with my uniform... Oh, and thanks for that hot towel trick. I've been wearing my boots for about 3 weeks now and they look better than when I first got them.
Ps You should wear latex gloves when polishing-protects your hands from polish :-) . Love when a cops boots are shined really well. I do see some officers here in Montreal whose boots probably have never been shined since they got them. ..Kirk
They did not have lincoln at the store i went to, the clerk sugested "10 seconds" and that it would do the same thing...ive been going at it for a while and have not seen a diffrence yet. Help?
You’re not making any sense but I appreciate you showing us. I need clarification you said you go back and do the other boot the same way and you said 7 coats for a decent shine….does that mean you are heating it up 7 times with the drier or once with the drier? Then 6 more layers with just polish and no heat? My boots are old danner fort Lewis and I’m having a bitch of a time shining them they are not shining up at all so frustrating. I’m using kiwi parade gloss and I’ve tried the lighter method. The girlfriends hair drier method. I’m doing something wrong.
+Michael Velasquez sorry, that was my little sister.. anyways, thank you sir for everything. ill reffer back to you if i need anymore help or questions.
nice video i basically shine mine the same way with a little spit here and there.. Those boots suck though man.. If you're in LE, def a lot better boots out there!
What I like to do with new boots, is wear them for a tour or two to break them in, and get the creases in the leather, before spit shining them. That way, the polish does not crack or flake off in those areas. Nice video.
Im just curious, what’s considered old school? My Dad wen through boot camp in the 80’s and did it this way.. Im not being sarcastic but if you have a faster way can you out a link in here so I can see?
Maybe its the style? I had a pair and loved them!!! But there were the kind without the polished toe, my department changed the policy and and now I have 5.11 so I can polish them
If you spit on the polish and continue to do circles the boots would gleem but thats the ROYAL IRISH way with out bees wax if my sargent major seen me do that to boots i wouldn't have any arms as he would have beat me with the soggy end if you had kept on doing it with circles it would mirror sine in 15 minutes i had both boots layared and beeswaxed in 1 hour and i was top boot buller i used do do my COs boots if any recruit spent more that an hour on his boots he wold get extra duties Check out grenadier guards boot buling it will cut your time in half . your way the first time you stand at ease the polish will fall off your boots just trying to help i seved 27 years british army anti terrorist Royal Irish
Ah nah more side zips. Guys if your going to be polishing your boots, go for some real military boots. These big 5 rgs wont make the cut. If your like me whole has to walk all day for 12 hours straight, these rgs wont last you. How do I know? I bought and used these. They sucked balls and I had to get some new inseams for them because its as bad as walking on flat wood all day. Also the leather foams out this weird oily substance when creased. Its weird, they were brand new for me, I walked in cold, I walked in 120 degree weather all day, you name it. These boots failed me, unfortunately I still have them today sitting in my room incase I ever need an emergency boot. But theyre actually going to be replaced this month by the Belleville jungle boots. No side zips because they fkn suck. Also a last recommendation for those who want to achieve the real mirror polish, go for saphir, its wax and it uses natural contents which you could layer it and itll keep your boots in shape, no cracking and will allow that beautiful “spit shine”. In total for all the saphir products it goes for 140 total for the spahir products, the clothes and brushes. Yup its quite cheap actually, I recommend it. Once again go for military boots, add an inseam so you dont torture your feet. Plus military boots are meant for all seasons.

Chris.
Well I'm glad I could help you! I hope that everyone can learn how to shine their booys and look like true professionals.

Kirk
Thinking is really helpful.....using the blow dryer really makes it shin a lot more
I really recommend this video to everyone tht wants to polish their boots
Thanks man hope this helped you out :)
Michael Velasquez good video, hello from México city
Tried this today. Process really works great! Thank you for the video! Hair dryer does make a difference.
Thanks Matthew that means alot I want to help people with this hard thing to do with some easy steps
Try using saddle soap or dubbin to remove the stress lines. I find it works great to moisturize and remove stress lines
Strip the boots with Dawn soap. Let dry. Dye the leather to restore the color. Apply leather cream to moisturize. Then apply THIN coats of wax and a tiny drop of water with panty hose.

Thanks for the video man this really helped. I was critiqued on my shoe shining the other day and this was the first video that popped up. 👍🏻
Excellent ! Thank you I really want to represent my dept well. This has helped me. This is my first time shining boots.
You didn’t shine boots in the academy?
Ps You should wear latex gloves when polishing-protects your hands from polish :-) . Love when a cops boots are shined really well. I do see some officers here in Montreal whose boots probably have never been shined since they got them.
..Kirk
To cool it down you could use the hairdryer on cold setting
Got the same boots for my civil air class and you saved me days of work
((Da Punk)) Young Marines are better still i respect you.
;-)
XXDa_PunkXX but is young marines total forces??
good pointers i like it. However, i have a pair of magnums that is pathogen proof how would a hot wet wash cloth work on them ?
Need to conduct a cost/benefits/risk analysis into the activity of two hours making your shoes shiny.
so i can use a blowdryer insteaf of a lighter?
hello,
small question, no need to use water with cotton at the end ?
They did not have lincoln at the store i went to, the clerk sugested "10 seconds" and that it would do the same thing...ive been going at it for a while and have not seen a diffrence yet. Help?
Wow that's a nice shine haven't shined mines in a while and I'm a Lt. for my explorer program 😂😅 haha thanks for the vid Ima try the blow drier 😁
Not every agency stresses military inspection standards. Besides, what's the point in polishing those cheap boots that they issue annually?
Thanks man! Academy start is Monday o.O you're saving a life🙏 Dropped you a sub👍
Take that lighter and remove those"Irish pennants" from the lacing stitches).
I've followed what you said and it doesn't give my black boots a shine. My boots is genuine leather so idk if that's the reason or something 😅😅

+jamj59 thanks
Nice boot.. try bulling them.
Awesome, love this video! Really helpful.
so for new boots, you would have to repeat the process over and over to get a decent shine right?
exactly
+Michael Velasquez i use mink oil, and when i apply it at first, my boot gets all moisture already, and when i blowdry it, liquid drips down.
+Sebastian Silvar hmmmm not sure what to tell you, its just trail and error. experiment and see what happens! I've never used Mink Oil before
+Sebastian Silvar ....yes?.. lol
+Michael Velasquez sorry, that was my little sister.. anyways, thank you sir for everything. ill reffer back to you if i need anymore help or questions.
Where did u get your boots or what kind is it
I'm going to try this on my bates, but with the angeles wax polish I have. Hopefully this works on mine.
Are yours minor Bates or master Bates?
Maybe you found out by now, but they make blow dryers that blow hot and cold air so you don’t have to pass out from blowing your boots dry yourself!
Lol
nice video i basically shine mine the same way with a little spit here and there.. Those boots suck though man.. If you're in LE, def a lot better boots out there!
TheJustina102085 true not the best boots. But I had a pair that lasted 2 years I was impressed.
Did U say reedley PD?

Deveron Ferguson I pretty sure these are Bates
I have the same boots the polish doesn't hold because it's not real leather
if you polish your boots every day will you have to do 7 to 8 coats each time?
+AdamPlaysPiano I never do. After the seven, I do one coat about once a week.
Excellent work!
his stutter is cute lol
If I only have kiwi should I avoid the stress lines?
Honestly I would, but try it and see what happenes.
Honestly I would, but try it and see what happenes.
+GRIMvids I use kiwi and it works just fine.
How long does the shine last?
55 and a half years.
I stripped my boots, one hour later I’m still trying to get them to shine. Does it really take that long?
x426x It depends but ya it’s gonna take a while either way
Sweet I'm in explorers too! I also have the same boots
Great video 👍

Victor Solis Is that a serious question? 😂😂😂
Victor Solis Ive heard that before but im not 100% sure
What I like to do with new boots, is wear them for a tour or two to break them in, and get the creases in the leather, before spit shining them. That way, the polish does not crack or flake off in those areas. Nice video.

Im just curious, what’s considered old school? My Dad wen through boot camp in the 80’s and did it this way.. Im not being sarcastic but if you have a faster way can you out a link in here so I can see?
Liquid kiwi with the sponge tip
Which explorer program
I'll try this on my under armor boots. But I'll be honest, I wouldn't buy under armor for police work boots ever again. Cheap pieces of crap.
Dave Michael I recommend 511 or bates
Maybe its the style? I had a pair and loved them!!! But there were the kind without the polished toe, my department changed the policy and and now I have 5.11 so I can polish them
@@petehorrorwood 5.11 are ok...just ok. The Magnum boots have lasted me a long time.
What do you mean by 7 or 8 coats?
Scoping lord frost It means do what he did in this video seven or eight times over.
anyone go to reseda hs?
Another what NOT to do to your boots. Just dumping wax on them doesn't moisturize the leather at all.
If you spit on the polish and continue to do circles the boots would gleem but thats the ROYAL IRISH way with out bees wax if my sargent major seen me do that to boots i wouldn't have any arms as he would have beat me with the soggy end if you had kept on doing it with circles it would mirror sine in 15 minutes i had both boots layared and beeswaxed in 1 hour and i was top boot buller i used do do my COs boots if any recruit spent more that an hour on his boots he wold get extra duties
Check out grenadier guards boot buling it will cut your time in half . your way the first time you stand at ease the polish will fall off your boots just trying to help i seved 27 years british army anti terrorist Royal Irish
We have the same boots and blow drier 😂😂⚫🔵⚫

Applies heat to animal skin - expects no problems - do the same to your skin, and you'll feel (and probably see) the effect.
Those boots are fake leather I had them before
Michael Perez ya they are I didn't know that when I made the video
What boots are those?
