Damn right, DS got me into MK for the 1st time & I will remember that title fondly...
I like what they did with Koopa Troopa Beach in Mario Kart 7. The visuals are enhanced but more cartoony, the ramp to the shortcut is less aggravating to drive into but still tricky to pull off, and the ramp that leads to a boulder and only hinders the player from driving onto it now has a point, since you can now use it as a glider ramp to snatch a coin or two.
The beach courses always have some of the best music!!! I especially like the songs for Shy Guy Beach, Cheep Cheep Beach, and Dolphin Shoals

N64 Koopa Troopa Beach has a very original and creative name compared to the SNES version.
They're two different tracks.
To be fair I always thought the N64 title was Koopa Troopa Island.
I love how the title card for this video just uses the MK8 DS Cheep Cheep Beach course as the background for three of the four displays.

It's shown to be near Sunshine Airport, and Daisy Cruiser is near Yoshi Circuit. Both could appear in the DLC, and Daisy Cruiser has been datamined for Mario Kart Tour, I think.

I’m 80% sure it was on purpose, because there’s plenty of water in other levels that has “better” animation (including water washing up on shore, like in peach beach)
