Also brush up on ISMP sound alike/look alike list. Taking the PeasonVue practice exam was also very helpful, it’s layout is exactly like the proctored exam. I must have had an easier version of the exam because there were only 4 questions out of 90 that I had no knowledge on. Good luck!

I just passed the PTCE a few days ago. I only studied for around 2 weeks. I don't have any experience working as a pharmacy technician. I studied an online course. Good luck to everyone who's about to take the exam!
I wanted to let you know that watching your video really served to encourage me before my exam and I passed the first go round. It really helped me get out of my head so thank you so much!
I’m really glad I could help Gale! Thank you so much for the compliment. I’m glad I was able to share my insights with the video! Positive thinking is extremely important ☺️ you’re welcome Gale im happy that my advice was able to help you 💕
Thank you for providing the Ptcb outline! I've really needed this! I've never worked in the pharmacy, but I am in my last semester for my pharmacy technician program. Then my school will be scheduling my exam. Again thank you! & congratulations on passing your exam! Do you have recommendations on help with remembering the math?
You’re welcome Josey! I’m really glad this video was able to help you. I wish you the best of luck in the completion of your pharmacy technician program. Make sure to take the exam when you are completely ready and study a lot before hand. Thank you I appreciate it. For the math I recommend tongue go with your style of studying how you think you will remember it best. For me it meant leaving off the math until the last minute so I don’t forget it but if you’re a person who can learn and will retain information and needs to go over it more to understand it I say do as many practice problems until you can do them without any assistance.
QUESTION--- I took my exam today after watching your vid and getting your recommended resources. My preliminary result is PASS! Couldn't be more excited. But ONE QUESTION: How accurate is the preliminary score when you take the PTCB at home?! I mean, I can only imagine it being changed to a not pass if they watch back my webcam footage and see an issue but I absolutely did nothing against policy. Should I celebrate or is it too soon??? Do they ever change a 'pass' to a 'no pass' ???
Congratulations on passing!! As long as nothing was against their policies you should definitely be okay and it would not change your results! Definitely take time to celebrate your success :)
Girl lmfaoo I’m in the same boat as u were!! my license expires in like 3 weeks i rlyyy gotta take this exam. You’re a lifesaver tho I needed tips and you helped a ton with getting me to make a study plan last minute :)
Hey Rosa! this video has helped alot, i take my exam November 25th the day before thanksgiving, i took the test 4 years ago and didnt pass ive been reviewing math and reading materials thanks so much for the outline hopefully i pass it and can get into a hospital position! ive been a tech for alost 7 years!
I know it can be stressful but make sure you look over the PTCB guide which shows you what types of questions will be on the exam and how many of that category will be on the exam.
Ugh I'm so stressed. I take it in about 2 weeks, and I work as a tech in a dermatologist office. My work hasn't gone over anything and they aren't giving me any resources. Thank God for public libraries.
Hi CJ! I’m sorry your employer isn’t helping you out with exam materials :( Are they requiring you to become certified? Yes I am grateful that you can find your materials at the library 📚 I wish you the best of luck in your studying and you will do great! ♥️
You’re gonna do great on your exam Keira! Best of luck ♥️ make sure to keep studying to brush up on last minute details but don’t forget to relax as well! I’m glad you enjoyed my video!
I take my test on the 17th and I’m stressing I am studying a lot but pleaseee ! Give me a quick run down of what to actually study! I feel like I’m studying a lot and a lot of extra information!

I just took my exam today and came across your video after failing:( I studied for about 2-3 months. I used the PTCB Bank that’s on the website helped somewhat. But those books you have I have and didn’t use them so I’m hoping to take it again in a month or two and have good news 😔
I’m sorry you failed it :( I would highly suggest using the books. That’s all I used and I thought it was sufficient for taking the exam. How long have you been a pharmacy technician for? I was one for two years when I took my exam so I had a lot of prior knowledge which helped me during my studying too. Most of it was review but I know that’s not the case for most people. Try out the books and see if that makes a difference for you. Don’t give up we learn and improve through tough times 🤗
I am definitely going to try out the books! I have both booos too when I seen it I go oh my goodness I have those! So I’m definitely going to take advantage of that. I am not a technician at all for my role where I work I am required to be certified as a technician. So basically I just help in pharmacy when needed. Retail to be exact lol. I was really bummed I used the PTCB website Practivr Bank and also TH-cam following Amanda Pharm. When I took my test it was a lot of medication and I’m like woah reality check definitely kicked in. Thank you for reply! Definitely going to use the tips and plan to take it again in two months ☺️
I feel like I learned more through reading first and then kind of going over the information on my own before using other supplemental material such as TH-cam videos. Do you think that there was something lacking in Amanda Pharms videos? I haven’t watched any of them, but I didn’t use any TH-cam supplementation when I was studying for my exam. I definitely want to implement that more into my channel, but I only want to give stuff that is actually useful for when you are taking the exam, I feel like her, don’t really go over the types of questions that you would need to know. I’m very limited on time, but my goal is to actually make videos that are helpful for you to pass the exam.
Passed mine the second time. Don’t give up though. Just don’t think we get paid enough for all the work put in. I was national certified and work at a hospital but pay was disappointing. Back at school for associates degree in applied science to get nationally certified surgical technologist certification where pay is better and can work my way up to surgical assist or first assist!
I agree the pay is definitely not enough, but it is a good role to start out and well trying to get your foot into the healthcare field. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
What’s the best way you studied when it came down to memorizing the drugs? Because I wanted to remember it and not just memorize it for the little quizzes. I want to make sure I still remember it for the board exam. I have kind of a hard time keeping track of what they all are. I am also in the passassured pharmacy tech program right now for my school.
I associated the drugs with what they were used to treat on a patient. Ex: metformin=diabetes. That was the best way for me. Fluconazole=yeast infections/fungus... stuff like that. I hope this helps and try memorizing them that way.
@@RosaPerez what about the brand names and the generic names? Did the exams have those? Or did it ask what each medications were used for? Metformin = diabetes, etc.
@@Thisisit2714 when we take the test, we can’t really disclose what was on the exam. But all the tips that Rosa gives on her video are very helpful. You got this! 🙏🏻
Hey Rosa! I'm taking my exam soon and I have the same book, but I was just wondering if you found specific chapters in the textbook most useful to review? I'm just trying to focus on the most important chapters instead of rereading the entire book. Also do you know if sterile/non-sterile compounding was a big portion of your exam or was it more law and regulation-based? Thanks!
Hi Julia! Thank you so much for reaching out! The chapters that I found the most useful are in order as I list them! Chapter 3, 5, 6, 8, 11, 13. These you definitely NEED TO KNOW!! Look over these if you have time to do so! Chapter 7, 9, 12. The exam was based more heavily on laws and regulations as opposed to sterile/non-sterile compounding!! Don't focus too much on compounding I would save that till the end of your studying IF you have time! I hope this helps you out Julia 🙂
I'm gonna save up the money from my gas station job to pay for certification out of pocket The reason is because I'm having trouble actually getting a job in pharmacy tech is because I'm awkward in job interviews. I always get fired from jobs for impulsivity issues/saying inappropriate things out loud. I have mental health issues, which is why I became interested in pharmacology. I'm also scared about the 9-5 thing because last time I had a 9-5 my sleep schedule wouldn't adjust no matter how hard I tried and I ended up getting 3 hours a night for like 8 months..... So now I work an afternoon shift and it's Greta but it's minimum wage....
Hi Rosa! I took my PTCB Exam today and got a preliminary pass! Does this mean I passed? I just wanted to say that your channel was very helpful during this process! Thanks again!
Make sure to take the exam when you’re ready, study as much as you can and you’ll be set! Just make sure not to hold off too long before taking the exam and don’t be like me taking it a month before my license expires and I wouldn’t have been able to renew it LOL
Hi! Thank you so much for the tips and advices! I will also be taking taking the PCTB exam and I am very anxious! I’m a gradute from BS Pharmacy in the Philippines so hopefully my knowledge about pharmacy will be an advantage for me to take the PCTB exam. Thank you so much again for the tips! 😊😊😊

Don’t be nervous Heather! You’re in a really good spot take one day to study a different section up until you take your exam on June 1st! You’ll do great! 🤗
Please tell us how it goes!! I take mine in 2 weeks. I’m thinking of doing it online at home with the COVID exception instead of at a test center. Best of luck girl!! 💕💊
Let me know how it goes taking it online at home! I say go for it if there’s no distractions at home that may cause an issue during exam time and if you have reliable internet! I unfortunately can’t speak in the home version because I took it in February 2020 right before the virus happened.
I say learn english first, then find a job that will train you. I am not sure what language you speak but you may find a pharmacy that has a patient demographic that speaks the same language as you.
So when you mention know your generic and brands, does that mean the top 100 drugs because the mometrix pharmacy tech book has over 200 drugs and I can’t seem to remember them all 😞
Where do you get your study guides like the meds etc. can you share the link. I work at a Hospice Closed pharmacy and I input prescriptions and call about rejections. I can’t afford to go to school right now
Hi! I know that this has been a long time ago. But may I ask if you enrolled with PTU( pharmacy technician university) and took the final exam while you’re in training?
Hi, I did remember taking one of the classes through Walgreens, but I don’t remember the exam with them. It was a long time ago when I did go through that class though.
Hi Lea! Just make sure not to lose any of the skills that you’ve learned or material that you’ve gone over before your exam. It is going to study ahead if you have the opportunity. Just make sure you don’t forget anything you learn and you should be good to pass! 🤗
Hi!! I am taking the Pharmacy Tech class now I’ll be done in March struggling with math. Also memory not that well where’d you get your list for brand names? I have more questions.
Hey Rosa, do you know if the Pharmacy Technicain Book 6th edition is still good for the new 2020 guidelines? Was there any content that was on the test that the book did not go over?
Hi!! I used the book for the 2020 guidelines and I passed! 🤗 it went along with the guide perfectly! No I feel like everything on the test was from the book! 📚
I'm sorry I just saw your comment! TH-cam doesn't notify me when I get new ones :( That's awesome!! I think thats close to what I scored as well!! You're welcome I'm glad my video helped you out :)
I didn’t really have too many notes I took I just read from the book. I would print the top 200 drug list and learn the drugs from there and print out the reference guy that shows what will be tested on the exam.
I took my exam last Saturday 08/22 and passed, your tips has helped me A LOT. Especially with downloaded the context if the exam and marking what I know and don’t know and when you said study this then on day 4 and 2 study what you dont know... even though majority of what I studied was not on the exam 😒 but thank you, thank you thank you thank you🙏🏾✨ i wanna know my exact score though
I'm so glad you passed Shina! :) and that my tips helped you out! I felt that way too there was some stuff I studied that wasn't even on the exam but it was better to be prepared regardless! You're so welcome
Lauren Gorham i studied the pharmacy book, practice exams and online material EVERYDAY from April-August 22, plus working in pharmacy, i passes with a 1530 score! While taking it tho, the questions were almost not like the questions I seen online or in the book, it’s the knowledge that you have to remember
I finished my training program almost 3 weeks ago and I’ve now want to study for the exam. But all the information is overwhelming I don’t know what to start with all the notes I have from class. I haven’t scheduled to take the exam but will it be smart to schedule the exam first and study until the day of ?
Hi there! Make sure to print out the PTCB guide and use that to help you in studying. If you use the book I talk about in the video it makes the process easier as the chapters correlate with the guide. If you are using your own notes make sure they go along with the guide to aid in your studying. Yes that would be a good idea as long as you are reviewing a good amount each day. If you don't feel very confident or you don't have much work experience in the Pharmacy I say that at least a month is necessary in order to pass. If you do, and do not want to rush or be overwhelmed, take at least 2 weeks to study for the exam. :) I wish you the best of luck and let me know if you have any more questions!
I personally didn’t think it was too difficult but I was already working at the pharmacy for about two years before I took the exam. It depends how comfortable you feel with the concepts.
I think I got about 10 questions on the math. Make sure to memorize the formulas for math and you will be okay. Do lots of practice problems so you feel comfortable.
How long did it take you to get your official results? I just took mine on 5/8. And at the end it said “Preliminary Results: Pass” so I’m confused about that.
Hi Lora! Thanks for reaching out! Find a study style that suits you the best :) make flash cards if that is helpful for you. For me, I repeat things over and over until they stick and I know I won’t forget or use real life examples. Make sure you also ask for accommodations when you are applying to take the PTCB exam to allow you to have more time! Also don’t rush to take the exam make sure you do it when you are ready. I hope these tips help in your studying and I wish you the best of luck on your exam.
Hi Rosa i have been BINGE watching all your pharmacy tech videos and i LOVE them!!! As of right now i am a senior in high school and i am taking my pharmacy tech class from there. there is some material that i am really having a hard time and that is remembering the medications and their names. i noticed that you had a list and i was curios as to where you got your list of medications or if you made it yourself. i would really LOVE to know
Thank you so much Stevie! I appreciate the support so much! You can find the list of the top 200 drugs online :) yes it can be confusing and difficult to remember but I would associate the drugs with the types of health issues they are used to treat! That would help me out the most!
I am a senior at PIMA MEDICAL INSTITUTE and going to take the Practice PTCB Exams I AM FREAKING OUT. PLEASE GIVE ME WEBSITES/ADVICE TO STUDY. I haven't taken my externship yet. Do I study before? During or after externship?
I did not use any website I just used the book. I can't completely say because everyones style of studying is different but if it takes you awhile to memorize and learn material then start studying as early as possible.
Hi Viviana! Thanks for reaching out! How long have you been studying for the exam? I say since your last couple days of studying to make sure to go over any math that may be troubling you. Do not go over compounding as it is not on the exam. Go over pharmacy laws as well. It’s very important to also go over classes of controls. Do you feel like you have enough knowledge on the medications or what they are used for?
Don’t be nervous! You already have a good amount of experience from being in the pharmacy for a year. If you’re working this week try to ask the pharmacist as well if there’s anything they recommend you look over! Definitely do amoxicillin dosing questions with them if time allows :)
Cactus Rose it was good. Not to hard actually. I had a couple of math questions but mostly basic stuff we do in the pharmacy. Maybe one or two amoxicillin dose calculations. My test had mostly pharmacology and some law. So learn generic and brand names as well as drug drug interactions.
I have some question: How did you get the PTCB review topics brand/ generic sheet? And did you take PTCB class before exam? because this is my 1st time, I am so freaking out
@@irmaolivares9795 I plan to study on my own without taking class so I am nervous, i do not know should I take class before the exam or I can study on my own.
And actually I planned to take class before taking the exam, however, the class already started this week and the schedule overlap with my anatomy class :( so I have to study for the test on my own.
I got it from my walgreens class but im sure you can find the same sheet on quizlet. I did take the class before the exam. Everything I needed was in the book and I didn't find the class that necessary for me. If you follow the PTCB test outline which is on their website and use the book I have linked to focus on the areas you will be tested on you should have no problem passing the exam.
That was my best way to study as I did not remember much from the class regardless since I completed the class in November 2019 and took my exam on February 8th 2020.
Last day of class did you guys do anything (small ceremony) for completing the course . Or did they just mail the certificate . Finish my class in December .
Congratulations! So, you took classes, the title makes it seem like you studied for 4 days and passed the test.🤣🤣 Thank you so much, you posted some helpful information!!!! I appreciate the book tips as well.
I mean I did take the class in November 2019 and didn't take the actual exam until February 2020 xD I don't retain info long term but I did study for 4 days up to the exam. I guess it depends on the person. I was basically learning everything all over again. I appreciate your feedback :)

What was on the exam?
Took my exam today and passed, thank yo so much for the heads up
Congratulations and You’re welcome!
I hope this information helps and please let me know if you have any more questions 😊
Nice video 🥰🥰🥳your video is so cool, honestly PTCB is such a difficult test man , really don’t know what to do but I’m never losing hope.😊
sometimes hard work doesn’t pay you have to back it up with smartness, I think your cousin understood that perfectly.
I’ve heard so registered nurse talk about him, I didn’t understand what they were saying, I hope he replies my text on WhatsApp. 😊

Hello I'm about to take mine I'm studying for and I just came across your site and thank you now I know I'm not alone I'm so nervous I NEED THIS!!!
I hope your exam went well 🥺
I take my test on the 17th and I’m stressing I am studying a lot but pleaseee ! Give me a quick run down of what to actually study! I feel like I’m studying a lot and a lot of extra information!
The new exam is a representation of the knowledge a seasoned retail technician should have. The metric system, proportions and allegations are important to know. You may get 5 math questions or 10 so don’t skip the math! Study only federal laws, this a national test. Study drug interactions, storage, brand/generic, SIGs, etc. They no longer have sterile compounding questions because there is now a separate exam for that. Also brush up on ISMP sound alike/look alike list. Good luck on your exam!
Please let me know if you have any more questions :)
Did u pass?
You go girl! I'm gonna take my test soon. These are great tips! ❤️❤️
Thank you! Good luck on your exam 😊
I PASSED!! 🥳🥳🥳
Yay!! That’s awesome Jackie congratulations! 🥳
Hey Rosa! Could you give an example of the amoxicillin dosage calculations you were talking about to study?
Hi Samantha yes I can! If you want to add me on Instagram I can send you pictures of the calculations.
Honestly thank you this was such a big help !!!
You're welcome Haley :)
Just took my test and it said I passed!! Hope that means I’ll be certified in a few weeks

Rosa Perez thanks your video helped a lot
You’re welcome Lea I’m glad I was able to help ☺️
Rosa Perez just got my official score! 1520 out of 1600! Thanks Rosa 👍🏾
You’re welcome Lea I’m glad you did well on your exam! ♥️
Gonna take my test tomorrow😄🙏🏻🙏🏻 praying to pass!
I wish you the best of luck! 🤗

@@RosaPerez That sounds great, thank you so much!!
You’re welcome Julia! ♥️when is your exam?

I'm gonna save up the money from my gas station job to pay for certification out of pocket
The reason is because I'm having trouble actually getting a job in pharmacy tech is because I'm awkward in job interviews.

Taking my test tomorrow, hoping for the best 😬

I have my test in five days any tips? I do work in retail pharmacy almost been a year there.
Rosa Perez I want to say about a week. I’m just having a hard time knowing what to study. I feel like I’m all over the place! 😅 I’m nervous.
Don’t be nervous! You already have a good amount of experience from being in the pharmacy for a year. If you’re working this week try to ask the pharmacist as well if there’s anything they recommend you look over! Definitely do amoxicillin dosing questions with them if time allows :)
How was your exam? Did you have a lot of pharmacology and math?
Cactus Rose it was good. Not to hard actually. I had a couple of math questions but mostly basic stuff we do in the pharmacy. Maybe one or two amoxicillin dose calculations. My test had mostly pharmacology and some law. So learn generic and brand names as well as drug drug interactions.
I have some question: How did you get the PTCB review topics brand/ generic sheet? And did you take PTCB class before exam? because this is my 1st time, I am so freaking out
Tomorrow is my 3rd class for the PTCB exam and I’m also freaking out 😞
@@irmaolivares9795 I plan to study on my own without taking class so I am nervous, i do not know should I take class before the exam or I can study on my own.

Congratulations!
So, you took classes, the title makes it seem like you studied for 4 days and passed the test.🤣🤣
Thank you so much, you posted some helpful information!!!!
