00:32 I think what people never got about the art sets and their pricing was just how many pieces were in an art set! The Batman art set for example has 4167 pieces including all the studs, the nine big technic brick plates and the frame pieces. 4167 for £105 ($120)! That’s a crazy good price per piece of only 3 cents/pence per piece! The 1x1 tiles or plates from the PAB cost double that on their own!
They were ridiculously good value sets but people just didn’t see it because they were presumably overwhelmed by the simplicity of the set! I am so glad I grabbed a whole variety of the art set when the were cheap and didn’t limit things to which of the set’s theme I preferred! I bought the Marilyn Monroe, the Elvis, several Batmen and Iron Men, Harry Potters and a couple of the Beatles! All of which I got before they retired and most well below retail (25-40% discount on most!).
It’s allowed me to make loads of custom art pieces. If I hadn’t gotten the sets before retirement and simply tried to make my MOCs by flat out buying the pieces from LEGO or bricklink it would be costing me three times as much ! 😂
01:38 Also….why do you need instructions? It’s a mosaic. All you really need is a photo of the design you want to make. I recreated a couple of custom designs I have seen other people make simply using a photo of the design. One is a Christopher Reeve Superman portrait which was the hardest to recreate as I didn’t know what art sets the builder had used for parts and it was a custom size (two and a third 48s)….the other is a Patrick Bateman portrait which was slightly easier as I knew the designer had used two Elvis sets to make the portrait…

Great work looks good on display. Command strips look like a nice and easy way to hang them up, any idea how long the strips will last before they start losing their grip?
Thank you!! I’m not 100% sure, but command strips usually last a pretty long time. I’ve had these LEGO art pieces up for almost 5 months now and they’re still really solid. If you’re worried about them falling off, just make sure to put a couple more command strips on to make sure they can hold the weight.
