- For years I stayed away from drawing faces because I was TERRIFIED that I'd never be able to learn how, it literally seemed impossible!! But what I didn't realize was that 1) you don't need to draw realistically to still create adorable, whimsical, fun and fab faces 2) once you learn the basic steps it truly is SUPER EASY!!! 3) guidelines and practice really are your best friends when it comes to improving your skills!
Luckily I spend the greater part of 2018 and 19 creating a whole slew of face drawing tutorials for the beginner artist! So what are you waiting for? All you need is 5 minutes, let's get this drawing party started!!!

I LOVED this!! Both my husband and I were drop-jawed over the results I had with this video. The first face was far better than anything I thought I could do. The second one was even better!! I've been learning Karen's techniques in Mixed Media and these forays into drawing let me know there are more fields to explore!!

Karen Campbell I am moving forward thanks to your help! I have not done the mix and match challenge but I have been busy experimenting. I have discovered I love ink and watercolour!I am now experimenting using watercolour pencils and ink intense pencils...I am practising doing mono watercolour in the background while creating vibrant ink intense in the foreground! Thank You! will always follow you as you are one of my top five inspirations on you tube!

Hi Karen, I stumbled on your site when I was looking at working with gesso. I am a watercolorist (and I am into botanical work) but tomorrow I am doing some black and white gesso painting at my art class. I just absolutely love you, your video and your approach. I am going to check out all your videos and start having even more fun. Botanical work is very precise and painstaking so to break the "heavy" vibe and have some fun will be just great. I used a regular number 2 pencil to sketch this and it was very hard to do the shading with it. It didn't seem to move at all so I switched to a charcoal pencil when it came time to shade. It worked so much better..
