We got tired of those chain boxes leaking oil from year to year so we put flowable corn head grease in them and have gotten along very well for years.

That's what a mechanic told us one time, if you need to keep filling, just use corn head grease.

now you need to have a big JERSEY GIANT decal made for the sides of the combine it fits that thing perfectly

Did you run your gathering chains staggered, or with the paddles directly across from each other I prefer staggered

Wes, what is the part number for that gathering chain tool?! I’ve never seen one before! I’d like to have one.

Just wondering do those chains need timing with each other or each side. IVE worked on equipment that does and its a PITA JOB.

Well we all know that it won’t hit the field until you have gone through the whole unit from top to bottom. Should make your harvest a sweet one this year.

I was just thinking (I know I know) William and Tim will be looking back on these videos one day much like I've looked back on the pictures of my Granddad and my Uncles, man, I wish they had had videos back in the 50's- 60's!

I'm anxious to see how this performs in the field. Will it handle as expected or will it be too big and unmanageable for the smaller plots and the effort of getting it there ?
Thanks Wes, I hope it all meets your expectations.

  • @MARKLOCKWOOD2012

i think lawyers need to step in and say your charging too much for heads vehicles. make manufacturers bring down prices so everyone can afford stuff. So people will buy affordable this or that. Not look at Johnny bucks a plenty with a monocle or the monopoly guy.

  • @SlipShodBob

If you you had come up with the tool you'd have been smart patenting it before approaching the manufacturers as decades as a family friend who is in his 90s who you remind me a lot of as fix anything or improve machines to work better. For decades he used to work for multiple farms who he could have chared three times his hourly rate and still been less than half the dealers hourly rate.
One year decades ago when Claas Matador combine was still a young machine a neighbour replaced 1 of their 2 combines with a JD though the drivers kept whining about the rigid steps getting busted on rolling ground so he came up with a folding mechanism so it didn't get wrecked but could be switched into place both from the top and the bottom.
The farm was really impressed and told the dealer about it they came out took loads of photos then a couple of JD engineers came out to look at it. Then the following year when they replaced their other combine with another JD it came with his system on it. He was still salty about it in the 90s as he didn't get any recognition for it not even a pat on the back.
Not that it particularly helped the dealership in the long run as JD screwed them over when they "restructured" their dealership.

Do you know where that combine was sold brand new? There was a New Holland combine sold out of Mitchell, SD that had the auger fall off with hardly any hours on it. The owner (a custom harvester) had been a diehard New Holland guy but that was the last straw.

Congratulations on the Jersey Giant…looks amazing on the road watching the lil cars in the grass as you cruise past lol. I’ve been with you on both channels for years and love the progress y’all have made and how y’all roll with the punches and never get down!!
Also enjoy seeing the whole family working together….& William’s commentary is always enjoyed and makes me belly laugh lol. Keep it up y’all!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Always interesting to see what your working on. Definitely can see that William is dying to be able to help. Looking forward to seeing the new layout on the grain dryer in use. That new combine is so big maybe you could do custom picking for other farmers in the area in exchange for their help trucking your corn. Whatever happens I’m confident you have a plan in line that is far better than anything the other viewers and I could think of. Wishing you and your family the best.
