Le Tombeau De Couperin is really a great suite. The Prelude from it was the first Ravel piece I learned. Now I'm playing Noctuelles, but this is so much nicer.

Which one is your favorite from le tombeau de Couperin? I love the Forlane, it's probably my favorite piece of music. The Concerto is great, especially that middle movement, so beautiful (or "lyrical" as the scholars say).
You guys must listen to Cziffra's version...I prefer it over Argerich or Richter, or anyone else for that matter. The articulation speaks for itself...
this was probably done on 2 pianos but im not sure, it might just be a really really really really incredible piano player, i just cant imagine how one person could play it so fast and flawlessly through the entire song and have it so just....impeccable !!!
well hopefully there will be a time when i'm this good. i'm getting there, but time will tell if my hands are swift enough to be capable of such talent.
John Farr Ravel unfortunately did not write for the average pianist haha. Though he could not play some of the more difficult things he wrote like Gaspard de la Nuit.
John Farr I'm also learning this piece. My hands are no where near this fast, but I will learn it with as much time as necessary. It may take years, but I will do it one way or another!
Fair comment. The subtleties in Ravel can get lost in haste. Argerich understood this better than most. There is no need to rush genius. Let it unravel at a pace we mortals might approach understanding it.
the hanging resolution, with the voicing having the 7th played like that... it's absolutely sublime. If that ending phrase doesn't evoke flowing fountains... not sure what does. Half bad? Are you an accomplished composer? Or a sour critic?
