    Your are partly a visual learner and that worked big time for me too. I had to fill in for a bass player whose mom died just last week, so keeping brief I was handed a bass and a amp that really sucked and did the show. What saved my ass was I look at the guitar players hand and spot the the geometric shapes and that tells you what notes to use.

    I started plucking out the scales here tonight just to get a feel for it to see if I could catch on and I have to admit it feels like a great bass line. I will be working on this for the next couple of weeks until I can play through it smoothly. I found the bass tab for Eric Johnson’s Cliffs of Dover. I had a hard time with that for some reason, it didn’t feel smooth at all and I stumbled horribly through the first coup,e of progressions. It think it must be playing without the rest of the song in the background, I started feeling lost so I will revisit that song later. Thanks for the new lesson to work with, I will make sure I give this my attention. Your lessons have been extremely helpful, thank you.

    More great content Dan ! Might I suggest another of similar nature, B. Joel's " Only the good die young" perhaps?

    Great lesson Dan. I know you like this bass but the Stingray sounds so much better. Just sayin..

    Dan, thank you very much I’ve been following you practicing and learning from your videos, quick question do you use your ring finger of the right hand?

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi! Plucking hand? Very rarely - only for chordal fingerstyle playing and the occasional triplet or flashy technique.

    • @ChamizoRecords
      @ChamizoRecords 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@OnlineBassCourses yes for plucking, I aske because I tend to use it a lot on the regular basis and my question to you, is do you think it’s a bad habit ? Do you personally recommend using ring finger on regular basis ? Thank you before hand for all your teachings I’ve leant a lot from you and still learning thank you

      @OnlineBassCourses  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ChamizoRecords If it works for you, use it! Billy Sheehan and a few others use three fingers. It depends on what you want from the technique. It's not a bad habit if you play well and sound good.

    Hey Dan, love your videos. Question about this song technique…can it work for any song? Or is it particular to a certain genre? Also where did you get the backing tracks?

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! I make my backing tracks. Sometimes I use Band In A Box. You do find arpeggios in many bass lines but I always find that a song I’m working on will require potentially different things. It’s all about listening and figuring out what sounds good to you! A lot of the time it’s simple stuff.

      @@OnlineBassCourses thanks for the reply. I’ve got band in a box but I’ve not used it in ages.
