Omgosh my heart screamed when she was pushing, this girl was a vocal little mama. 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 But she did great for having just one beautiful doeling. Blue Cactus Dairy Goats yes she did, she was so determined and was able to get her first baby out. 👏🏾🙌🏾👏🏾🙌🏾. I was so worried with her cause she was screaming more than the other girls that were first timers. It was sis suspenseful but so wonderful. The miracle of life can be so different for all gods creatures.

Hi Crystal! Good video ... I was a bit concerned about Lillie. Her cries were hard to listen to. You could almost hear her screaming, "I HATE HIM" and 'NEVER AGAIN". But she really calmed down after delivery ... and I love the way she started bonding with her baby. Out of curiosity, have you decided to keep one or two of the kids? Congrats on the new arrival! It was a hard delivery for sure but she did amazing! I am undecided on retention as of now.

I just discovered your channel this morning and I am binge watching EVERYTHING I CAN FIND, lol. Your mamas know that you love them, and they love you too. They know you are there to help them thru it and they accept it. And you are so tiny, you are on their level, eye to eye. I would like to get permission from you to bring my granddaughters (ages 6 1/2 and 3) to your farm in the spring for baby season, if that is possible 🙂 We are in the military and getting ready to retire, so we will be leaving AZ within 1 to 1 1/2 years. I would love to show my girls how real people live. I grew up in PA on a small family farm. We grew all the vegetables for our extended families, raised our own beef, hogs, chickens and rabbits and hunted large and small game for our family consumption. We had a nearby dairy farm that we traded for our milk and another neighbor that we traded for eggs. That is how I grew up and I loved it😍! I don't think kids today even have a clue. If it's not a computer or a phone, they are lost, and that is so sad. Let me know if this is something we can do, and how much your fee is. I am really excited about seeing your goats🐐🐔🐣🐶🐈
Sounds like you had a wonderful upbringing! We have been seriously thinking about a "farm day" to allow people to come out and learn and see how we work. Not in play just yet though. Keep watching! Hope to have this going next year!

Crystal I thought that fluid went in your face. Poor thing she can’t find the right comfortable position to get into. This is real natural raw childbirth and it gives me more respect for all that can have a lovely baby. Lord almighty I found myself pushing too, lol..

Congratulations for Lillie giving birth!😊(Even though it was a year ago.)I was mainly scared when she was literally about to have the baby I saw the nose and I'm like "oh no I hope she dosen't have to go through surgery.😢"Because I saw the slime at her entrance and I thought her water already broke but then I saw how small her entrance is which scared me even more because I thought she was going to die even when she gave birth successfully I was still scared for the poor things life and when she started screaming and crying that clearly showed how painful it was to give birth to that baby goat.😟Thank God she had her baby with out dying.😟And can I just note how cute the baby is.☺The baby was close to standing up,but failed do to its weak newborn legs,she tried though.☺

Crystal, just a thought, or tell me I'm off my rocker but having watched so many goat births, could you not invent a block (concrete) where the Mommas could push against to give them some traction? It hurts to hear their pain. We have choices. Could we not consider the same for our animals? Love your channel. Best goat channel on YT for business. Love WEAR for cuteness, Art and Bri etc.

Thank you so much for sharing this video. Of Lillie's first kidding. Our goat Amy is about to give give birth to her first here soon. She looks almost exactly like Lillie. Down to the letter on the side lol. (A instead of O) Amy's milk has not come in yet though either, but she has been showing signs she's getting close. She'll stomp her feet and scratch the ground, and she has a tiny little bit of mucus come from the labia. And she's been head butting us. We know it's gotta be really soon now!!
We have replacement milk and the colostrum milk for the first couple days in case her milk never does come in
Some does wont bag up until they are in active labor. Hasn't been common in my herd but happens. Also, a first time mama typically bags up a few days before. Again, not always! Good to be prepared though :). How exciting! Sounds like you are getting close!
@@BlueCactusDairyGoats thanks for the advice! Yes she hasn't given birth yet. But we are trying to make her as comfortable as possible. Just gave her a fresh bale of straw for her bedding in her house today. Been getting cool at night here. Think she only has one in there too. Have a question though. Her Momma was not able to feed her. So she was a bottle fed baby. Do traits like that get passed down to the kids? We are worried that Amy won't have milk because her Momma didn't.
Glad she has a cozy spot to get comfortable in while she prepares for labor. For a goat not be able to produce enough milk to fee the babies isnt common. Maybe if it is a large amount of kids born one may need to be pulled for a first freshener (first time mama). Was there something else going on with her? That being said, milk production is a trait that is passed on, yes.

It's interesting watching animals give birth. My kids are well into adulthood, but when I was pregnant with them in the late 70s early 80s I used the BRADLEY method childbirth and had my kids at home. Dr. Bradley developed his approach to having an unmedicated birth by watching animals on his farm birth. You can clearly see the difference in breathing when your goats are having a contraction. Goats let out bleeds during pushing just like I did, cept I didn't bleet. My soft moans got higher pitched as the contractions got closer.
I was thinking also, noticing that most of your mama's had their kits during daytime hours. Is this because birthing at night you are more subject to predator attack and the effects of colder weather?
You know, that is a good observation. I just consider ourselves lucky when they kid in the day. Not always but pretty common for my herd.
We have a goat we believe is pregnant. Today we noticed some bloody mucus discharge. Is that normal for a pregnant goat? We have no idea when she's due but she's not big like a pregnant belly I'd expect.
We did feel movement but because her belly is so small, we don't know for sure

People say they leave their goats along because in the wild they would ...well dogs in the wild do it alone . I have 3 dogs and I would not leave them alone to have babies . I would be like you and comfort them and help out

Professionally I have helped alot of babies be born- you by far outrank most MD in technique and compassion. Are many born at night ? Are you there then ? What do u do if one gets stuck in the canal > Ever have a mother who rejects a newborn ?
Wow! Quite the compliment! We usually have day kiddings but some are at night. I have been up late into the night quite a few times waiting and watching lol. If one is stuck, I am there to assist and situate the baby so it gets out. I have only had one baby get rejected by it's mama.

That baby is adorable , but I can't handle watching the precious little mother giving birth and crying out in pain .If I had a goat , I'd have her spayed and get her a friend and have her spayed also , and I'd give them lots of love .

Why does it look like they are chewing when they are in labor
They are still regurgitating their cud and chew it up while in labor. Their rumen still functions properly. They will sometimes grind their teeth in heavy labor also.
