I was actually watching from the monitor and helping my sister find ones she may have missed. (Some of those skulls were really hard to find.) After the last area there was about a 20-30 minute break before they did the final running scene through the basement. The rest was shot in sequence. We did film a second ending but they kept the original.
Each week, 2 teams of 2 kids, with team names such as the Amoebas and the Newts, competed in 5 games or stunts set in a haunted house at Universal Studios in Orlando, Florida. Games included *”Fireball Alley,”* where 1 player standing on a suspended bridge tried to protect 6 *”headstones”* from being knocked down by *”fireballs”* tossed at them by the eyes of a floating head suspended in space; *”The Abyss,”* where 1 player read a series of 5 questions in 90 seconds while the other player climbed a series of rope ladders trying to find the correct answer mounted on a wall; and *”Skull Duggery,”* where 1 player from each team went through the house trying to find as many skulls as he or she could in the allotted time. Points were awarded for completing events in each game and the team with the most points at the end of the show received a computer, while the runner-up team took home an encyclopedia. The show’s theme music, composed by Danny Elfman, a former member of the pop group Oingo Boingo, was also used on the TV series *”Tales of the Crypt.”*

The balancing foam rollers also moved heavily to one side and they would constantly rotate the platforms so that no one could predict which direction they would lean in the run. Often we would practice right before the real thing and that would throw everyone off.

A bit of the behind the scenes secrets I can share... They were shocked at how smart all of us were on the show. Midway through shooting this episode, the writers had to redo a lot of the questions because we were answering them way to easy. A few still fell through the cracks but it's not like our team (the Squids) helped ourselves out by arguing over the answers.

@@jamesmoss3424 yeah that’s true but seeing Amanda making it look easy but after she got 10 points for carrying two bags she went back too get the third bag of skulls but she slipped of the swamp bridge and she got vaporized and Cheryl carried 4 bags of skulls and she tipped to the right and she too got vaporized that Swamp From Hell is still a difficult challenge
This would not be Richard Donner's only attempt in the game show business. He tried with an unsold pIlot with Stone-Stanley and Paramount called Says who?
I know they use like green/ blue screen for these games so the kids aren't really scared. However it make it's more funny when a friends "vaporizer" and the other partner is just a cold "eh goodbye I guess.

Somehow, my mother allowed me to watch this every week at five years old. The Crypt Keeper didn't scare me too much back then.
That show tales from the crypt scared the crap out of me but since I grew out of it I’m no longer scared
