    I have the regular M1 Air and it’s decent but struggles with photo and video editing sometimes.

    • @visionarywatts
      @visionarywatts  ปีที่แล้ว

      When you say struggle with photo, what do you mean? Batch editing in lightroom, editing a single photo, etc.

    • @kingsamvisuals
      @kingsamvisuals ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@visionarywatts is mostly batch editing. It does get hot and can feel sluggish sometimes. The brush tool and clone tools are notorious but they feel much much better with recent updates. Photoshop has never had an issue, pure butter. Davinci resolve does chug with effects, certain titles and color grades but I reduce the playback resolution.

    Hey! Nice Video 😉
    To answer your question - I'm rocking the standard 13" M1 MacPro, but I do all of my editing on my M1 Mac Mini. If I didn't get the 13" M1 MBP from my work, I'd 100% would have upgraded to the 14" MBP.
    I did have a 13" MBP with the I5 chip and that thing used to kill me with the loud ass fan and constant overheating. I've not had that issue once since switching to the 13" M1 Pro and my Mac Mini.

    • @visionarywatts
      @visionarywatts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, these Apple chips are blowing away the intel ones they use to use. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Nice video, glad someone is going in depth on the M1/14 with all the talk of things to come… I been eyeballing this baby for a min for photo and video editing in particular… what specs would you recommend for this particular workload… Thanks B

    • @visionarywatts
      @visionarywatts  ปีที่แล้ว

      You can kinda eyeball it cause if you're doing more intense work than my videos and batch editing a ton of photos, then this this version probably isn't for you. If you're videos are heavy on color, effects, motion graphics, definitely go the Max chip route. When I do some basic coloring in my specs, it starts to lag.

  • @anthonysyfilms
    @anthonysyfilms ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I also use the 14” MBP but with 16gb unified memory and 1 TB storage and it flies through my Sony a7siii footage! I also work in resolve which has been frequently updated. I will say adding noise reduction, film grain, or any vfx definitely makes it stutter but since most my work is storytelling/recap I luckily don’t use vfx as much. I have found that sometimes I hear the fans spin in Lightroom during export for larger batches. We’re you able to get your fans running with your work?

    • @visionarywatts
      @visionarywatts  ปีที่แล้ว

      I've rendered a small non-complex scene in blender and I exported this video in premiere pro last night. Those are the only "intensive" things I've done thus far and I haven't heard the fans. The playback in premiere pro stutter a TON when I was testing out a LUT from Motion Array. My next video will test where this spec laptop starts to fall apart in premiere pro with certain LUTS, transitions and effects.

    • @nqfilm
      @nqfilm ปีที่แล้ว

      @@visionarywatts I'd love to see you try out Davinci Resolve and tell us how it does compared to Premiere, espacially the stuttering of the playback when colorcorrecting. Maybe you'll start to really like davinci then also haha. (It's free btw!)

    Good review. I have an M1 MacBook Air Silver base model,I like it except for one problem that I caused myself,I accidentally caused water damaged 1.5 years ago and I haven't been able to fix it yet. It does have apple care so I'm currently in my senior year of high school. When I turn 18 and get ready for college I'm gonna upgrade to the M2 Pro MacBook Pro with 1TB of storage. However my other laptop that I plan to get to Christmas is a gaming laptop that I plan to use with the MacBook I'm gonna use at the time.

    Nice video 😉In all seriousness, though, I also picked up an M1 Pro MacBook Pro early in the Fall (2022), and loving it! I use it for djing, music production, and also recording dj videos from home, and occassionally livestreaming them as well. It handles everything I throw at it with ease. A 2-camera setup with Serato Video outputting to a green screen and also capture the Serato waveform display in OBS and record both the audio/video mixed together in OBS AND also record the audio track only in Serato at the same time? No Problem!
    I know so many TH-camrs and tech reviewers have said the same thing, but it's hands down the best computer I've ever used/owned!
    Note: I use a 32GB unified memory model with 4TB storage. Was lucky to find the config refurbished on the Apple refurb site!

    Every single Watts video always feels so comfortable and relaxing. I have no interest in buying a new laptop and if I did get one I wouldn't need to spend the money on something like this because I would never use it for anything other than TH-cam but I watch the video and I stick around for the comfortable vibes. Keep doing you Watts, you're killing the game.

    Whats up brother. I'm rocking the ASUS Zephyrus M16 that I bought at best buy in Nov 2021. Got it for about $300 less during black friday and they had one left. I've never owned a Mac and have always been a windows guy. I have been thinking about getting a used M1 pro mackbook but I don't do enough work to justify even the price for a used one. Besides I do like my current laptop and sometimes I play a few games on it. They run well enough.

    imma end up getting something like a lenovo legion 5 pro since it'll effectively be a desktop replacement, but if i didn't wanna play games on it and macOS wasn't so clunky for me i'd get a macbook for SURE
    it seems like the perfect creative laptop: it's got the power, the battery life, the silence, all that

    The production value on this amazing. I've been looking forward to this video..
    Watchnig you do what you do on Blender makes me wanna stop being an old dog and learn some new tricks.
    Has there been anything that you've tried to do with this machine and it capped out on you?

    • @visionarywatts
      @visionarywatts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      lmao. I've been doing a lot of multitasking with 3 or 4 apps open and it handles that well. Same goes for when I'm modeling in Blender, and using Photoshop, and Premiere pro. No lags or anything just moving and operating in the apps. There was a LUT I was trying out from Motion Array that this spec version couldn't handle in premiere pro. Also, in several of my videos on this channel, I do something like a 900% speed up on a clip and this laptop briefly lagged on each playback (the specs on my desktop can handle it easily.) The next video will contain a good amount of drag and drop LUTS, transitions, effects and stuff from Motion Array to show people where this laptop spec caps out in premiere pro and where playback adjustments are needed.
