      @@How-2-drive the examiner was quite harsh on me tbh, also got a minor for someone else's mistake. They pulled up infront of me on the left hand lane of a motorway just before my exist which resulted into less then 2sec gap. Obviously I couldn't break as that will result into everyone breaking behind me.

    12:55 Obviously harder to tell distance/speed watching the video but could you not have comfortably made it onto the roundabout before the white Insignia? Surely the whole point of picking a suitable speed and gear before the roundabout is so you can proceed into the gaps more readily?

    Thank you Howard for this great video. A couple of questions on Part 2 in an automatic, if I may. For cars that turn off when stopping, does that mean we need to allow them to do that during the test or, as long as we follow the other tips you've mentioned in the video, we should get it away with it? Furthermore, I thought that the examiners would mark us down for not using the cruise control. DVSA is making Part 2 more complicated now with this Eco Safe Driving and the minors allowed are still only 6. Less room for errors. Anything else you suggest to keep an eye on during the test in an auto? Thank you so much :)

    Hi Howard,
    Thank you for another Great video.
    Howard can you please do a video on the types of questions we should ask & the correct wording we should use eg,
    what, where, when, who, why & how
    I’m quite stuck with how & when to use them so am requesting to you if you can make a video I’d sincerely appreciate it.

    5.53 did the driver opposite waved him across by any chance just looking at the pedestrians body language looked like he was running quickly across that could explain why perhaps ?

    At 13:50 when overtaking the white car is there a reason you didn't indicate, unless I've missed it. It was my understanding to always indicate when overtaking even if there isn't a vehicle behind?

    I noticed you did a quick blind spot check when moving off from the traffic lights around the 6.28 mark. Is this a requirement? I know it counts as moving off , just not sure if it's also to be done during traffic stops .

    A question to any ADI’s out there. I have my part 2 test coming up soon, at home I have a hybrid car with an automatic gearbox and a Vauxhall Vivaro crew cab van with a manual gearbox, the van was for my previous self employment as a gas engineer. I know that I cannot use the van for the part 2 test as it doesn’t have a back window. So can I use my car? My part 2 trainer (with Red) says that I can but surely I will need to be observed using a manual gearbox (block changing etc). Any advice would be appreciated.

  • @halfrhovsquared

    When I get onto a fast road, I use cruise control for one main reason - Emergency braking response time.
    As soon as my CC is set, I cover the brake with my foot and I trim my speed using the CC control. If I want "engine braking" (I put that in quotes because I drive a PHEV, so I have six selectable levels of regen rather than actual engine-braking), I hit the "cancel" button and use the paddles (which change the regen level) to trim my deceleration. As soon as I want to get back up to normal road-speed, I simply hit "resume".
    What are your thoughts on this?

    • @How-2-drive

    Will it fault in ADI part 2 test if we go straight from 6th gear to 2nd gear? On the Rondabot?

    • @How-2-drive
      @How-2-drive  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, you’re supposed to use the brakes to slow, then select an appropriate gear for that speed. One hazard, one gear is best

    Great video ! I have a just 2 questions , I have my adi part 2 soon and my start stop function does not hardly activate, will this be an issue, also my car does not have cruise control, will my examiner ask me this ? Thank you .

    • @How-2-drive
      @How-2-drive  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! If your car doesn’t have cruise control you will not be asked to use it. The stop/start function does not always activate, for example if your using the AC or the battery charge is low, this is not a driving fault. Read DES for tips on fuel efficient driving.

    interesting video. im taking my part 2 in a nissan epower. technically its a petrol generator with electric motors driving the vehicle. It also has an Epedal, which is the option to use the gas pedal only, as you lift off the gas pedal the car uses the electric motors to brake and regenerate electricity and recharge the battery. it aslo has B mode that means the moment yoy press the brake you get enhanched regen and 50%more braking. I wonder if the DVSA are savvy enough to comprehend the technology? also as the driver has 0 input or controll of the engines RPM which can suddenly start revving to ensure the battery has enough power. oh and then we have the eectric power steering that doesnt require the engine to be running to operate, making show me tell me awkward. oh and on that subject it has 2 coolant reservoirs, one engine, one inverter lol. my part2 is going to be fun, did i mention its in a city i dont know well lol.....

      Using all the road for smoothness.
      Roadcraft uses SVS when positioning.
      So it must position Safely, position for Vision and Stability.
      A wider position as long as it’s safe will open our view through the corner and get the smoothest part of the road avoiding all the bumps in the gutter
