I’ve been watching this video over and over and it’s the best video I’ve seen so far. A very big THANK YOU, but I do have only one comment to make. Towards the end of the video you were behind a white van indicating to turn right, and you drove around the van to the left. It was a bus lane on the left of that white van. I don’t know in Norwich, but in London you could get a bus lane ticket. I did get a bus lane ticket few years ago for doing the same manoeuvre.

Just wanted to say thanks… I was struggling to continually check my rear view mirror having driven vans for 35 years. I added commentary to my driving and it completely solved the problem. I even did a commentary during my part 2 test, which was well received by the examiner. I passed with two minors first time - thank you, thank you, thank you 😊
these videos have been very helpful. I took my Part 2 test the other day and passed :) 3 driver faults. 1 for rubbish parallel park. other 2 faults was that I indicated late when leaving motorway. Had no Idea I should start indicating once passing first countdown marker to an exit. examiner was very friendly. It was very obvious when to take right action, she would turn her head sharply and look at me e.g. as soon as I passed a bunch of parked cars on the left :)

Excellent video, clear instructions and advice. Quick question if I may, I'm getting conflicting answers... question is - when joining a motorway from a slip road, once you get appropriate speed and see a gap in the first lane, should you physically glance over your right shoulder or is looking at the wing mirror sufficient?

Hi Howard, at 10:10 mins in you show a right turn at a roundabout where you can turn right from either left or right hand lane. On this clip you mention an indicator would benefit the red car. Do you mean a right signal ? If so, would that be just a couple of clicks and then cancel it, so not to confuse potential cars in right hand lane. Thanks for your time Howard 🙂
Interesting video thank you. You caught me out on allowing to go round the nearside of the van. As it had a solid white line as a road marking. But the biggest alert for me was the car to the right that the van was waiting for is a one way street & the car is driving the wrong way out of it

Thanks for watching. My advice would be to work on your commentary and build your skills of Observation, Anticipation and Planning (OAP). So in the scenario where you had the bus lane straight over the roundabout and your faced with either taking the first exit or the third exit which one are you supposed to take when earlier in the test you were told to go straight unless the road markings tel you otherwise?
Interesting points around bus lanes. If on approaching bus lane sign on test where you did not already know the operational times and you choose to not use it BL and subsequently either worked out you can use it / saw repeater sign would you be penalised / cause a breach for crossing bus lane white line marking. I can't see any thing in KyRS to so you would. I guess they are not like middle lane markings

Hi Howard, Im re qualifying after 13 years out of the industry (previously a grade 6 ). I have 1 question, on a motorway/dual carriageway with motorway restrictions you come up to a car ahead doing 69mph, you begin to overtake as you are continually catching up and obviously you take time to pass the other vehicle then increases speed to 70 , i always thought it was acceptable to increase your speed to facilitate a safe overtake and then reduce back to the speed limit. my trainer tells me that in this scenario i should drop back behind and continue at a reduced speed to keep a safe distance. To me that isn't making/maintaining progress. I'd be interested in your thoughts. Thanks
I failed my first part 2 this week in Norwich. I was told I hesitated too much. I did pull up on the left twice on plumstead rd, and had streams of cars passing. I waited until it was safe and clear, and got faults both times. I also got faulted on driving too slow in a 20mph with cars both sides, making it single file. 3 other faults are my fault and I deserved them.😞
sorry to hear that. I passed the other day and my biggest worry was failing to spot different speed limits on road. many roads quickly shift from 20-30 and vice versa. have to look around for clues. many side rides had signs for 20, which meant main road I am on is 30. when they put the satnav on to follow directions, that was very helpful, as I often glanced at the speed limit on it :)

Interesting point about bus lanes, in edinburgh and /newcastle they have cameras at a couple of junctions similar to the one with the van turning right. the moment you put a wheel in that bus lane you get a ticket. NCL the bus lane is 24/7 Edinburgh has times so obv outwith the times you can use it. Ill let you know hoe NCL goes on wednesday lol.
Hi, im going to book my Adi Part 2 i just wanted to double check and clear something up as i have a manual license but an automatic car is it okay to use a automatic car for the test even though i will be teaching Manual

I said the ABS warning light will flash up on the dashboard. she asked how would I know if power steering is working. I said after turning on engine, I would move the steering slightly, if it feels light, its working. if steering very heavy, then it's not working. she also asked to explain how I change from dipped lights to main beam. quite simple answers.
