NO mumbo jumbo, no crap, no time lapse nonsense, just pure content! Loved it and got myself an achievement following your tutorial on another route. Thank you so much for being straight up.
I have seen lots of video to help me understand ils landing. Your video being short explain the process so great. Specially how to enter the localizer frequency! Also you hit several points now I understand to start the airplane and shutting down too! I am just starting with this game. Thanks! 👍🏻
After an extensive search on TH-cam, this video turned out to be the clearest. Step by step I learned how to deploy and use the ILS. A very valuable video for those who want to master the Citation within 15 minutes. Thank you very much
For somebody with zero aviation background but loves to nerd out this stuff...these tutorials are perfect. Lots of work to do but have had smooth flights and non-lethal landings thanks to these tutorials 😂. Thanks for the work you put in!
It's a good idea to shut all the lights off once the engines are shut down, first, then shut all the other stuff down. If the plane has a beacon light, that of course stays on until the engines are totally spooled down. so any ground crew know not to approach the plane until the light is off. Just what I've been taught as a simmer by some experts and actual pilots. I think this may be the best plane stock in 2020, and once it's updated fully with all working systems, it'll be the best of the bunch.
I love your no nonsense, straight to the point tutorials. Look forward to more excellent content. Thank you for your great contribution to the SIM community.
Really wish they could upgrade all liners' FMS to the G3000. Those are such a joy (and easy) to fly with. Thanks for the video mate! Easiest 15mins of the plethora of Citation videos out there!
I have been struggling to fly this aircraft after following many tutorials until I found yours. Thanks mate. Clear, no over the top complicated information. I'm away now practicing. Thank you.
Thank you, thank, thank you. Been messing around in FS2020 for a while in small prop planes but have really wanted to do longer flights to and from places I know but needed to be jets and ILS. Today did my first full flight (LOWI to EDDM) by following your instructions and it worked! You've opened up a whole new aspect of the sim for me! OK - did forget to switch off AP at the end but apart from that wrestled it to the ground and had a great time doing it. Keep up the great work. You have a new subscriber!
I have been trying to get comfortable with the new FS2020.... very different from the old Learjet controls in older versions of course. This is one of the best ILS set up videos I have seen with the nice addition of full start up and shut down procedures. I will be replaying several times and taking written notes then try and duplicate what I have seen until I can get it just right !!!! TNX MUCH !!! Cheers Mate !
Nice video very usefull to me to learn flying with this plane. Your a very good teacher and i love the way you tracht, so practical. I’m sorry for my Englisch that so bad😩 but i hope you able to read. Thanks for the lesson👍🫡
Thank you for another amazing tutorial! On a side note, I wish it was easier to read the instrument panels in this plane (even with the right alt clicking).
Glad I found you again as you are straight to the point! Subscribed and bookmarked! I'm new to the CJ4, so just realized this is not for the Working Title addon. It would be brilliant if you could do one of your to-the-point videos on the CJ4 using Working Title 12.14. Keep up the good work! You deserve more subs!
*Hits FLC*, *Plane jumps to 4000 FPM ascent* "The plane is gently climbing" Just poking fun; great video! I was really struggling to figure out how to set the NAV radios using this arcane FMS. thanks
Being fairly new on this I have so far only flown Piston type aircrafts and was wondering what it is like flying a jet. Somewhat familiar with the ILS approaches I was thrilled to see your video on the CJ4 ILS landing tutorial video. Once I got this one, I am looking forward flying bigger jets. Thanks for that great video.
I like this guide. Simple and concise. I feel like this is the best guide for me to try to copy start to finish. I'll give it a go. Thanks and I'm now subbed.
On takeoff at 400ft you need to select "yaw damper(YD)" on the autopilot control pannel. This is standard procedure it dampens the yaw while handflying and in AP engaged mode making for a smoother flight and easier approach
You dont need wing light - only in flight to check for icing on the left leading edge. You dont start both engines at the same time - to much drain on the battery. First you star one engine and wait for stabilising N2, N1 and ITT.
This was FANTASTIC!! Thank you so much! That is a perfect tutorial! One question: Do you always have to turn the autopilot off and fly it in from so far? I usually cut the auto-throttle off quite early (if there is one) but I turn the autopilot off just 100 or even 50 feet from touchdown. Is that really wrong? It is sort of like what you did in the 172 tutorial.
Very nice video, still getting to grips with the CJ4. Can you set the ILS frequency from the start if doing a longer flight or is there a specific time it has to be set? Can the CJ4 land automatically?
Cheers! The video was created with a 1080Ti! The game is GPU limited even with a 2080Ti as seen in Developer Mode. The 3070, 3080, 3090 will release soon, so we will likely be able to benchmark it and see how much it improves!
Thanks for another brilliant tutorial. You really are setting the standard for keeping it clean and simple. I have one, maybe stupid question. Is there a simple way of finding out when, and how much, to start a descent? I too often have to dive onto the airfield.
You can calculate it. To maintain a 3 degree glideslope for an ILS approach, Divide Groundspeed by 2, then add a zero. Example: 120 knots / 2 = 60, add ‘0’ = 600 fpm. Most glideslopes are 3 degrees, not all but most. A simple thing to remember is, 30 nautical miles from the airport you would want to be below 10,000 feet. Then keep descending. For the final approach at 6 nautical miles out at 3 degrees you would want to be about 1800 feet. The approach plates charts will show precise figures for any approach. You can also look at the flight plan from the FMS. Turn on the flight director. The PAPI lights also can help in the final moments before touchdown. That'll get you started for gaming purposes.
I'm very new at this simulator, so please correct me if I'm wrong. But ATC centers call out my altitudes along my flight plan. They're telling me when to descend and to what altitude. But do they call out altitude settings for each of the waypoints as you get close to intercepting the localizer?
clear cut - nice job(again) - my problem(newby) : I am on xbox x and cockpit interaction is "locked" for mouse - (latest msfs update) so not very user friendly - any advise on how to go around this issue ? (changing to "legacy" in the menu does not work for xbox x)
Yes, calibration is slightly out. The Fly By Wire team have fine tuned the A32NX a fair bit, which brings it more in line and I'm sure other aircraft will improve in time.
Nice landing! I usually get more of thud as I hit the runway at around 100kts. It looked like your speed was around 80kts or so, it was hard to make out. Did you use the speed brake (spoilers) the last few seconds before touchdown?
When you select NAV and it shows LOC1 it is no longer using the GPS for guidance. The instrument landing system localizer (LOC) provides the horizontal guidance.
nice and neat tutorial. i have a question as newbie. what is the different "NAV" button in the middle and "NAV" botton on the left panel? they confuse me sometime with the same word.
They are different. The NAV in the centre is telling the autopilot to follow the NAV. The NAV on the left is the source. So which NAV source to follow, being FMS (GPS), VOR1 (LOC1), VOR2 (LOC2). The button on the left works similar to the CDI switch on other planes. I hope that makes it more clear, to make some sense of the difference.
Help, what am I overlooking here. I insert a flight plan straight off MSFS followed by entering a confirmation GPS location, plus the ILS freq, and confirming the STAR is entered into the FMS. Following this, I notice that while cruising, FMS1 is showing. On final approach for an ILS landing after clicking FD, VS, APPR, the first click of the NAV shows VOR1 second click shows VOR2, third click goes back to VOR1. I still can't see LOC1 or the 2 x diamonds come up when approaching the landing and this is during my approach to the runway using the Vasey Lights as my guide.
Thank you very much for your good tutorials. I have a question to ask you that ... Before touch down the speed is too high such as over 170. How can I decrease speed. Thanks again.
When you make the last turn for the approach do you use full flaps or stages can I use full flaps because I never know when to hit the second stage of flaps
great video my question is when you make the last turn to catch the glide slope you shouldn't have to move the sticks /steering wheel up or down all the way to the runway just steer it right or left all the way to the runway right? thanks oh and reverse thrust and spoiler shouldnt need brake is the correct? thanks
it will do both. vertical axis with approach and horizontal axis with the nav button. use the brakes once you have the speed well down, until then use pedals to keep it straight on runway. enjoy!
FLC is Flight Level Change. if you want to climb or descent then you can set a speed that the plane should fly at, but the jet does not have a speed control/auto throttle. you always have to manage the speed with the throttle yourself
Is there a way for me to figure out the ILS frequency in-game? Or do 'real' pilots also need to look it up on the web? Just a brain fart of mine, i figured maybe it's on the atis channel of that airport or something. I don't know. I just realized the answer is yes, if you have this additional onboard computer in your plane. (the one with the icons) Just find the airport and all the frequencies are listed. From the ILS's to the COM's, the NAV's, the VOR or VOF's.. and stuff.. I'm still learning... :)
Thanks for the video, its a great.! Can you tell me what about ILS landing if I type the destination airfield codes like KJFK insteed the numbers? Hi, i was wondering how to save a flight with flightplan. Is that possible so you can fly the flight further an other day?
My line always goes yellow not purple?
Seems bit complicated for the beginner, I.e. when using the flight computer. Perhaps if I review it a few dozen times.
