You are one of the most optimistic people that I have ever seen that makes lego videos. So good to see someone being appreciative of things instead of constantly complaining that everything isn’t perfect. Thank you for that!
Have you seen the new city harbour set? I don't really like the city sets, but the harbour is built really well and looks good on my shelf next to the construction crane.
I’m pleasantly surprised by the printed tiles, those can be useful for MOC’s and I go absolutely bonkers over new parts colors so that snake in brown is exciting for me lol
I feel like, of all the characters in HP, Snape should always come with a cape. If every single Madam Hooch minifigure gets one, Snape should, too. I just built this set today, and I had to laugh to myself about the instructions. Pages and pages of one piece per step… if LEGO really wants to help out the environment they should quit coddling and allow kids to use a few brain cells when building. When I was a kid, this booklet would’ve been six pages of spot the difference. 😂
Surely capes must cost LEGO even less than a standard ABS part. I don't know why we hardly get any these days! 😭 And I do agree the state of instructions is quite laughable these days. I think it was the Blacktron Cruiser GWP that had nearly a hundred page booklet 💀 The original was probably 4 pages...
@ For sure - pennies at most. But they’re always really expensive on PAB, too, so who knows… 🤷🏻♂️ I just don’t understand the instruction booklet thing - it’s such a waste of paper. The entirety of my vintage collection’s instructions fit comfortably into two scrapbooking containers, while everything modern is stacked into multiple large boxes I can barely lift. 😄 I get trying to make the build process easy to follow, but I think they could condense things just a little.
Cool to see you here @trikbrix I would like to add to the discussion that perhaps the state of instructions has to do with the more complex building techniques compared to older Sets (even thoufh sometimes they just seem complicated for complications Sake honestly). My girlfriend doesnt usually build LEGO but she bought herself the Kawasaki Ninjs because she is into motorbikes. However even with the 'simple instructions' the build was a struggle, given that she never before had LEGO pieces in her Hand basicly. 😅
It's pretty much perfect like you said, if it was $20 even more... The spectacular minifigures and all the prints make it worth it (maybe 🤣). HP reviews make me excited for revisiting part 3, They are some of my favorite videos of yours, I always discover things I never would have known otherwise, like exclusive pieces 😁
Thanks Cheesey for the review. I didn't expect all the prints in this set but really appreciate it. LEGO needs to do more printing in sets instead of stickers. Please review the other new sets. Especially, the ones that integrate with the newer castle. Thanks again!🎉
I just got this set several days ago as part of a purchase to get the LNY Year of the Snake GwP [1]. While I didn't care too much about set, the amazing printed tiles for the platform just by themselves are worth getting. Now having built the set, I greatly appreciate the compact and intricate mechanics below the platform and the 4 spell wands and the portrait (I got G.G.!) are nice additions as well. **Footnotes** [1] Don't worry, I got the Icons Corner Kiosk, LNY Lucky Knots, and 3in1 Tropical Toucan GwPs on NYD as well!
This was a day 1 purchase for me once it hit midnight on New Years. Chill build and a great way to get Snape and Lockhart (with that sweet new printing) in an affordable set!
Glad that Snape kept the arm printing from last year - I wasn't expecting that! They've been going all out on the professors which has been great to see.
Thanks for the comparison! Picked this up day 1, love that Lockheart figure sooo much. Also, i was wondering if you had any plans to review set 30706, the new HP polybag. I ask because my best friend Owen Libby actually did an internship at Lego last year and got on the HP design team and designed the Qudditch Lesson polybag himself! Dream come true for him, would love to see it featured on the channel if you have time!
I managed to pick up the boathouse and the potions class for $20 each, and I think at those prices they were absolutely well worth it, going to wait on these to come on sale to get as well. Love the review, and how its printed tiles, Here is hoping for more capes.
I love how dynamic the new rubber capes are, but I really hope they don't start replacing the cloth capes entirely! That dueling platforms feature is really cool. Did they get that fireplace from an advent calendar??
Have you done a review on the flying lessons set? I remember watching one but I can't find it so it may have been another channel I'm thinking of. If not, that might be a fun one to check out!
Watching your HP reviews got me interested in watching the movies again. I honestly forgot how dark and violent each movie progressively got until the battle of Hogwarts. Kinda want to read the books now
I love old grays, too, but there is next to nothing about the old set that makes me think of that scene from Chamber of Secrets. The new one does, and the setting of the scene is a bit dark and it's mostly just populated by other students, the lack of scenery, while disappointing, just isn't really necessary to convey what's happening so long as the platform is accurate, which it is. Those clips might become toast though, I just can't trust clips on anything anymore, they always find some way to crack, which never seems to be a problem with older molds.
Honestly, this is one of the few original sets that I love. It’s open like all the originals which is lackluster, but having the back structure feels like a whole set that would have benefitted the new set as a standalone. Obviously, you would use it in the grand hall set so that makes sense as why they didn’t.
The new model doesn't fair well in the comparison when it loses so much mass to the original, that's for sure! Even if it wasn't necessary to the scene, that backdrop from 2002 did make the set so much cooler.
Take the background of the old set, the platform of the new set. Give all the new figures the old figure’s capes (except Lockhart, his new cape looks great) and you’ve got the best set.
the old set definitely has that magic again we know from the old harry potter sets. the new one does less than the old set of course, but what it does it does perfectly. imo it doesnt justify the price though. the printing is a return to form (i doubt it will last, but im open for surprises), the printing itself is gorgeous. i can see myself using these prints in mocs unrelated to harry potter as well. if it werent for the price the new one would be an easy winner. this always leaves a sour taste in my mouth unfortunately.
It's been a while since I bought a Lego set. And this one might be my next. I really like Chamber of Secrets, and that Gilderoy figure is fab. Definitely a Witch Weekly most charming smile award worthy. Downside for me is I don't really have space to display sets, even smaller ones like this. That and I probably do already own enough Lego even though it's mostly minifigures.
We didn't have alot of money hack in early 2000's I remeber I got the Hogwarts Express for Christmas back then, the new one just doesn't give ke that nostalgia sadly, but I'm excited to finally build a full Hogwarts castle, this one seems like it's going to be epic and alot of fun to Mod even!
I would say wait till the summer when the Grand Tower & other hogwarts castle sets comes out and review & combined all of the Hogwarts Castle sets together in big video.
Call me crazy but I think the old hair piece (not the color) captures lockhart's movie look better. It feels more foppish, the new one has a hairline that feels a bit too uniform and swept back
I think the new set is perfect. The build is great. Minifigures are good (although I do wish Lockhart had a fabric cape. Or at least the one used in Marvel sets. The Batman one doesn't work for me). And prints are amazing! All in all, a fabulous set for 15$ ...THE @$ YOU MEAN 25$!?!?!??!?!?
That new cape they gave to Lockhart is just bad... Not only is there an existing rubber cape that fits the one from the movie better, but I really wish they printed it considering how elaborate it looks in the film. Otherwise the set is good! Aside from the price... yeesh.
minecraft starting to feel like the only not overpriced theme... fortnite may or may not join it depending what the new sets look because the leaks have me worried
Acho as minifigures antigas bem feias, mas uma coisa que eu não entendo: porque a minifigure do Professor Snape tem uma sobrancelha levantada e outra normal?
For 25$ it is not worth it. Charecters are not unique, not many worthwhile pieces Compared to a set worth 15$, Pillager Ambush, that comes with good characters, cool pieces, and honestly better build
Yeah! I had the pleasure of building that one, actually. I had always wanted the original City harbor, so it did help scratch that itch
I love my sand red Lockhart fig.. but this new Lockhart has amazing printing.
Nothing will beat the sand red one because... sand red 🔥🔥🔥
I’m pleasantly surprised by the printed tiles, those can be useful for MOC’s and I go absolutely bonkers over new parts colors so that snake in brown is exciting for me lol
When I saw that 2x6 tile I instantly thought of a sci-fi or Star Wars build. It would look so cool as a symbol for a faction
New color animals are always a huge win! Now we just need a new frog color this year too...
I feel like, of all the characters in HP, Snape should always come with a cape. If every single Madam Hooch minifigure gets one, Snape should, too.

I'd love to see a video dedicated to the Harry and Hagrid set. Very interesting set to say the least (even though I in fact quite like it)
Awesome video man! Love that 2002 Lockhart figure, always a classic.
Would love to see you do a video of the new 2025 Lego Harry Potter sets!
It’s a nice set but a bit expensive, I’ll probably get it when it’s on sale for 15 or 20 bucks. Will you make videos about the other sets too?
I'm gonna do my best! We'll see. There's a lot of other projects to tackle this month. Ahhh, I wish I had more time!
I don’t know its name but from when you showed off the boxes, you gotta do the middle one!
Malfoy Manor is a super cool one - I hope I can review it soon!
This ones pretty good, im flabbergasted that the purple elements are printed
I never would have expected that. HP has generally been a sticker fest 😂
Thanks Cheesey for the review. I didn't expect all the prints in this set but really appreciate it. LEGO needs to do more printing in sets instead of stickers. Please review the other new sets. Especially, the ones that integrate with the newer castle. Thanks again!🎉
I'm very excited to see what the castle ends up looking like. This summer is gonna be very interesting

4:59 Perhaps lego is finally decreasing sticker inclusions
We can dream! The latest Hogwarts expansions have been better about it. The Owlery, Boathouse, and Quidditch Practice sets didn't have any either 👀
Thanks for the comparison! Picked this up day 1, love that Lockheart figure sooo much.

I haven't seen that one in stores yet, but I'll definitely keep an eye out! That's so cool that he got to design it
@@CheeseyStudios yes I think it was leaked. Keep hearing weird things about it, like it's coming out Feb or March, or maybe as a GWP, idk.
New ones better because it comes with good looking minifigures
Now you got me of thinking picking up the new one … I will look out for it if it has some discounts ….
Hopefully it'll be 20% off before too long
I managed to pick up the boathouse and the potions class for $20 each, and I think at those prices they were absolutely well worth it, going to wait on these to come on sale to get as well. Love the review, and how its printed tiles, Here is hoping for more capes.

It totally does look like an Advent Calendar build 💀
it’s actually a very very similar design to the 75964 advent calendar from 2019
Yeah I was pretty sure I built that fireplace in slightly different colors in the advent calendar a few weeks ago! 😅
I’m pretty sure they changed one brick 😅
Have you done a review on the flying lessons set? I remember watching one but I can't find it so it may have been another channel I'm thinking of. If not, that might be a fun one to check out!
The capes really hit that nostalgia in HP #Bringbackcapes
Watching your HP reviews got me interested in watching the movies again. I honestly forgot how dark and violent each movie progressively got until the battle of Hogwarts. Kinda want to read the books now
I smell a Revisiting Atlantis video coming up judging by the background shelves 👀

I love this set it’s already in my collection
Very nice! I'm so glad they finally remade this one

Oooo as soon as you said those pieces are printed I realized I need to buy this!!! Wizard tower curtains anyone? 👀
Oooh, yes! That print may be surprisingly reusable
Take the background of the old set, the platform of the new set. Give all the new figures the old figure’s capes (except Lockhart, his new cape looks great) and you’ve got the best set.

At $20, this probably would have felt like a no-brainer. Hopefully retailers will be offering it on sale soon! LEGO just too greedy :c
I'm glad we've got lockhart in a cheaper set!
Agreed! He's been pretty pricey up until this point
Not including more spell pieces is a crime by lego
Yes! More Harry Potter reviews!!
It's been a while since I bought a Lego set. And this one might be my next.
I really like Chamber of Secrets, and that Gilderoy figure is fab. Definitely a Witch Weekly most charming smile award worthy.

I think this is a solid pick, especially if you are into minifigures. I'm curious to see how much they'll sell for individually on BrickLink.

I'm very much looking forward to the tower - we're gonna finally start seeing that recognizable Hogwarts outline!
@CheeseyStudios Ikr 🏰
I got this one and the charms lesson for $12.22 though I did use a giftcard haha
Call me crazy but I think the old hair piece (not the color) captures lockhart's movie look better. It feels more foppish, the new one has a hairline that feels a bit too uniform and swept back
a look at all sets pleaseeeeeee
I'll do my best! I'm just very slow lol
Old LEGO Harry Potter characters were a bit uncanny.
I think the new set is perfect. The build is great. Minifigures are good (although I do wish Lockhart had a fabric cape. Or at least the one used in Marvel sets. The Batman one doesn't work for me). And prints are amazing! All in all, a fabulous set for 15$
...THE @$ YOU MEAN 25$!?!?!??!?!?
Harry Potter really do be going the Star Wars pricing route these days
You say star wars battle packs are overpriced but it's a Harry Potter battle pack you only need one of. It kept the overpriced aesthetic aswell ❤
That new cape they gave to Lockhart is just bad... Not only is there an existing rubber cape that fits the one from the movie better, but I really wish they printed it considering how elaborate it looks in the film. Otherwise the set is good! Aside from the price... yeesh.
Hopefully we'll see a discount before too long. Even $20 would feel so much better.
minecraft starting to feel like the only not overpriced theme... fortnite may or may not join it depending what the new sets look because the leaks have me worried
I feel the same way. So glad Minecraft is staying reasonable.
Good film.
Agreed. The set makes me want to watch it again!
Acho as minifigures antigas bem feias, mas uma coisa que eu não entendo: porque a minifigure do Professor Snape tem uma sobrancelha levantada e outra normal?
I was trying to find a picture of Snape in the movies with that eyebrow raised, but no luck. 😂 It's definitely a goofy, over-the-top look
@CheeseyStudios o Professor Snape tinha uma cara bem séria, achei muito interessante a minifigure quando comprei
too smol
Hi
For 25$ it is not worth it. Charecters are not unique, not many worthwhile pieces
Compared to a set worth 15$, Pillager Ambush, that comes with good characters, cool pieces, and honestly better build
