We often find ourselves in Goa’s beautiful capital Panjim, for some work, some shopping, or to meet up with friends. Recently we found a new cafe and coworking space while looking for a place to grab a bite and rest between numerous appointments. Jambul cafe is located in the heart of Panjim’s heritage precinct, next to the Excise office and opposite Clube Nacional on MG Road, a hop away from Campal and a short walk from Panjim Church.
At the very entrance, we are struck by the decor. Up the stairs is a welcoming bunch of jambuls. There are plenty of tables of all sizes, for a party of one working quietly or a group brainstorming over coffee and pizza.
There is entertaining design and decor all over this cafe. Some of the artworks were made by visiting artists, some by the owners’ friends, and some by customers of all ages at one of the many events hosted in this space.
Even the restroom area has been gorgeously painted. Just beyond this area is the hostel, which has neat and clean bunk beds.
From the menu, we tried chilled mango shakes and kokum masala soda, the 9” multi-grain pizza (Rs 300) and the Bombay masala sandwich (Rs 250). Also recommended to try are the Kolkata style millet paratha wraps (Rs 250-300), millet flour dimsum (Rs 275-300) and whole wheat pastas (start at Rs 375).
The cheese on the pizza at Jambul is made from camel milk by Bahula Naturals, a sustainable farming and dairying initiative in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Jambul is the first cafe in Goa to use camel’s milk cheese. You can buy Bahula’s camel milk ghee (clarified butter), and also their cow milk ghee, at Jambul.
Also on the menu: Teas, coffees, milk shakes, juices, small plates like cheese garlic bread, chicken satay and prawn balchao tarts (Rs 150-375), all day breakfast egg platters Rs 200-350, multi-grain pancake veggie platter Rs 275, chicken and cheese sandwich Rs 275, cheese and chutney sandwich Rs 250, soup of the day Rs 125-150, Chef’s salad Rs 200-225, desserts, Goan flavour pizzas like chicken cafreal Rs 400, mushroom chilli fry Rs 375, poi burgers like crispy shrimps and coleslaw Rs 350, chicken cutlet with peri peri dip Rs 300, veg cutlet and cheese with peri peri dip Rs 250.
One tip: If you are here to get some work done, you may have to ask them to turn down the music volume.

Hi Nanu, we surely will. We love to roam in all the places you mentioned, especially in the rains, though our south is so beautiful all year round. If there are specific tavernas or restaurants you would like to see featured here, pls do let us know. Cheers
