    Replace Palm Sander Pad- Craftsman 1/4 Sheet sander replacement pad. Trying to get the old pad off proved to be slightly challenging without damaging the metal plate, or stabbing fingers!
    I did find out you can buy the pad already affixed to the metal plate, which on certain sanders can become quite expensive. I paid seven dollars for an Craftsman OEM replacement pad with of course, free shipping off Amazon.
    The sanding pads do wear out, mainly due to the self-adhesive sandpaper, as you know, it’s very sticky so when you’re changing sheets of sandpaper it actually can begin to pull the foam off as the foam pad gets older.
    But to me, it sure beats having to clamp the sandpaper down with the metal side clips.
    I hope this video help somebody out. This is the first time I’ve actually done this I don’t do a ton of woodwork. Appreciate you stopping by! please like or subscribe that really helps me out. Appreciate ya! 👍take care -Kev
    *** In the video I mentioned the replacement pad adhesive didn’t seem very sticky? I totally underestimated it. The next morning it was set up BIG TiME!

    I'll be darned. I have that exact sander.
    Sears was 3 blocks from home. The dust collecter doesn't work the best on mine.
    Thank you Kev.

      Bryce, Agree on the dust collector. I was very disappointed with its performance from day one! 👎

    That was a worthwhile fix. So many others, would just toss the tool away for something like that.
    It’s very satisfying to snatch a faithful tool from the jaws of death! Good job, Kev!👍

    Wasn’t planning on making a video until I seen that the damaged foam pad on this 1/4 sheet sander was very difficult to remove. Difficult meaning, without scratching the backing plate or poking your fingers.
    In the video I mentioned that the OEM replacement pad seemed to not have very good adhesive. I was wrong.
    It must be formulated to set up later on? This morning it was sticky as can be! I believe most this damage is created because I’m using sticky adhesive sandpaper, which will begin to pull foam away from the pad as the pad gets older! Thanks Kev!

    Nice 👍 I have a sander that uses Velcro.

    • @Kevscancave
      @Kevscancave  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That would be neat! I actually don’t do much 1/4 sheet sanding. It was mainly old and foam pulled off from the adhesive backed sandpaper I’ve been using the last few years. I’d put off changing this long enough! Thanks Robert -“Vino”👍😎👍
