My 18 volt Ryobi sander is very similar. It is nice ti be able to get pads for them. I have seen them at the store too. I could probably get them cheaper online from other places. The dust extraction is mediocre with mine so I was wondering of there is a better pad for it. That might be something similar to Festool's Jetstream pads. What I like about the Ryobi pad is that they are a simple design without holes that seem to fit just one (very expensive) sander. The only reason I know anything about Festool is we used to own a bunch of those tools when my dad had a cabinet business. Their one and only con is the price and they are very expensive.

Very impressive video very gently explained. I have a very old 5 inch Random orbit sander . It has three holes for the screws not four. and the plate has 8 holes on the out side and 8 smaller holes for dust to escape. I am having difficulty in getting the back pad. Could you please help. If I have your e mail i can send you the pictures. Thank you
I have an old ryobi orbital sander that uses 4 1/2 in disks. I can't find that size. Can I use 5 inch? Would I have to change the sander pad to accommodate the 5 inch? Help! I'm a 70+ widow and trying to maintain my independence. Thanks.

If you sand into inside corners, you might find the edges of the paper wear prematurely as they will extend slightly past the edges of the sanding pad. If you can find a 5 inch pad that fits your sander, then you will have no issues at all. If most of your sanding is on flat surfaces, I'd use the 5 inch discs on the 4-1/2 inch pad and not worry about it. I hope this helps!

The replacement pad didn’t have the extra 4 tiny holes and the pad wouldnt fit right on the sander. I saw the replacement in the video did have the 4 extra holes. I clicked the link that you posted but when i looked at the demo pic the 4 tiny holes werent there. Do you know where i could find the exact same replacement like in your video?

Thank you for watching! Most replacement velcro backs come with velcro peel-and-stick adhesive, makes it easy. If you are re-sticking an old velcro, contact cement works well. Make sure to remove all dust as it will reduce the effectiveness of the glue.

That's strange. Is the replacement pad thinner than the original pad? If so, the screws may be too long for the new pad and causing the rotation to bind.
Thanks for watching! Yes, some of the hook and loop pads are not that great. I've had similar issues. Some of the aftermarket ones can be glued to your pad and make things a lot better.
