UNDICTATED: The ’95 Bok; Paul O’Sullivan; Carte Blanche: and R50m codeine scam

- 1995 World Cup winning Springbok Hannes Strydom was portrayed as a drug-dealing psychopath by an alleged criminal syndicate to cover up their theft of at least R50m from his pharmacy business. After discovering the loss, Strydom called in forensic investigator Paul O’Sullivan who has uncovered a crude fraud masterminded by the GM of Strydom’s 350-staff-strong enterprise. Detailed documentation and witness statements reveal that the crooks stole prescription-only scheduled medicine to be on-sold by drug dealers at huge premiums. O’Sullivan’s investigations revealed that theft in a single codeine product line cost Strydom’s business R50m. When the former rugby star first confronted the alleged criminals, they reacted by selling their version of the story to television show Carte Blanche, painting the 6-foot-6 entrepreneur as the villain. In this interview, O’Sullivan shares how his investigations uncovered the conspiracy which he says not only clears Strydom but raises massive problems for the other parties.

So Hannes is a great businessman. But he doesn't know what's happening in his pharmacy?

If you look at the timeline he didn’t wake up after the CB programme. He had already called in Paul Sullivan to investigate his suspicions and when he identified some the alleged suspects of this fraud they immediately resigned and went to CB with their “story”

Hindsight is a perfect science... After all the info about Strydom's double life, allegations (substantiated with photos) of drug abuse etc. etc. one looks at this video with a new perspective. Rapport also reports that Paul o Sullivan has since distanced himself from Strydom. Pay close attention when Strydom speaks. His tongue dragged slightly. Also look especially carefully at his eyes. What a cat's nest of shame and deceit!

I'm not surprised about Carte Blanche. Been a number of questionable slants to productions over the years. Don't stand a chance of defending yourself if they out to get you. More drama than journalism. Pity. Started off well.

Alex the way you started this interview was poor. You literally positioned him as innocent before even asking a question. Not good journalism at all.
Carte Blanche need to be held to account. An apology is not good enough!!!
Mr O'Sullivan has it right and should be lauded for his determination to speak the truth... even when unwelcome to some. So much respect.
Something does not add up, Carte Blanche should continue investigating, the car in the accident should also be checked forensically. The guilty should be exposed and this should go to court...people need to go to jail.

@@sonyamoz9347 which just proves that the operational staff were in on it. Maybe you missed one of the main takeaways from this TH-cam. N o one is disputing that it didn't happen. What is being disputed is how Carte Blanche had the wool pulled over their eyes, and became compromised.
I learned that Hannes Strydom pulled wool over the eyes of both Alex Hogg and Paul O'Sullivan.
I think that there is much abuse of this cough syrup. I live in Blouberg and when walking along a green belt recently I noticed about 10 discarded bottles of this cough syrup in the bushes, which I reported to the local law enforcement.
i am disappointed in Alec Hog in this interview. He starts by leading the discussion with his personal experience which leads the discussion. What is the profit of this company that they can survive a R50 million loss. Why in the Carte Blanche attempt to interview Hannes was he so evasive.
There's more TV stations than just cart blanc, falling for such dubious scams - just to up their viewership + adverts. They should know better, especcially because all of them have legal eagles on board. They should therefore be held accountable for tarnishing an innocent man's reputation.
We don't expect people who denounce someone as guilty of a crime to in fact be the real crooks. But this has been a tactic of many of the criminals in state capture too. Maybe carte Blanche should have been a bit more savvy and suspicious but I doubt they were as cynical as implied here

Oxycontin is codeine and addictive
Oxycodone is an opoid(synthetic opiate) and only adjacent to codeine.
Oxy is much stronger, much more addictive, and infinitely more problematic.

So why did he not notice that there is a cash flow problem earlier? And how did they not see that the inventory count does not balance with the system? Surely they coud see that the stock on hand is less than what is on the system. This is basic accounting.

Carte Blanche doesn't have a horse in the race. Strydom does. I find it hard to believe that Strydom had no idea what was going on. Time will tell, though.
