  • In his latest Sunday Show with BizNews, United Independent Movement President Neil de Beer gives his take on the political dramas of the past week: Democratic Alliance leader John Steenhuisen’s failed blackmail attempt of President Cyril Ramaphosa over the signing of the BELA Bill, and having to get rid of his Chief of Staff; Deputy President Paul Mashatile’s public collapse, possibly because of food poisoning, and many ANC supporters clamouring for Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi to take his place; the torrents of opposing sentiment unleashed by the death of former Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan and his controversial legacy. He also speaks about how Economic Freedom Fighters CIC Julius Malema is being politically slaughtered by former President Jacob Zuma’s MKP. And before he weighs in on the latest Presidential debate in the US, De Beer names the Flop of the Week and the Hero of the Week.

    Paul Mashatile’s fainting episode is due to the sorry state of his heart (pun intended)
    As a retired teacher I know firsthand that every child has the essential constitutional human right to education in his or her Mother tongue/language and no governmental law - Bela bela -may ever be legalised to prevent this from happening. Also all schools ( like all businesses) should be in control of their own policies via their governing bodies and not over controlled and regulated by Government which does not understand their specific individualistic needs. It also gets parents involved with their children’s education which should be encouraged in township schools as well. As far as Home schooling is involved (which I know enough about also ), I strongly feel Government interference will do more harm than good as parents know what is best for their own children far more than any disfunctual Education Department will ever know !

      MEDIA STATEMENT BY THE
      INKATHA FREEDOM PARTY
      ANC Built Only 33 Schools Since Take-over
      31 May 2013
      The IFP has hailed as an important breakthrough a report which reveals that the KwaZulu-Natal ANC government has only managed to build 33 schools since it took over in 2004. This emerged in a reply from the Province’s Department of Education which was responding to a question posed by the IFP Member of the Legislature who is the party’s Spokesperson on Education, Mntomuhle Khawula.
      In his question, Khawula asked the MEC for Education to indicate the number of schools in KwaZulu-Natal. The response was that there are 6018 public schools. He then asked how many of these were built as from 2004.
      The answer was only 33.
      Commenting on the Department’s answer, Khawula said:
      “This reply by the Department of Education is an important breakthrough for the IFP for it makes it clear that, since the ANC took over government in 2004, it has managed to build only 33 schools out of more than 6254 schools in KwaZulu-Natal. The rest were, without any question, built by the IFP government.
      “This puts to rest the ANC propaganda through which they have always presented themselves as the only government that has delivered development to the people of KwaZulu-Natal. Indeed the saying that “the truth will set you free” has proved to be correct as it has set the IFP free from the ANC propaganda.”

      Land Reform must not be ignored but magnified. How do 83% percent of land still seats with minority white when natives only have less than 13%. This is the actual burning issue that will spark anger and another "June 16-like" mobilisation. Sound minded South Africans must ponder and reminisce about fairness of land ownership. If not SA might just experience another Zimbabwe uprising. Blacks are really really very unsatisfied and very fuming about land issue but the same Zuma is asking them to behave constitutionally. You may hate him but the future of all sound minded oppressed, unemployed and still marginalised blacks are 100% are literally joining MK. If it wasn't so then why would ANC and DA convene in meeting on how to rig votes of which they did. gnu is not going anywhere because it does not have the blessings of majority rule. It's a farce to obtain power that was and is already slipping through the fingers of racist losers. As long as some are sidelined, no problem will ever be resolved but things fall apart worse than before.

Without that very important findings and exposure carried out. NO Fix would have been possible. The cart always goes behind the horse. Do not right off the incredible role de Ruyter, played in eskom. He had the right ideas and policies. But no way was he able to implement them with the endemic rot so entrenched for such a long time. Not to mention the disgusting political interference he had to put up with. So all credit to those good men, Ted Blom, RIP, who worked the back rooms to rescue eskom from the thieves.

    The DA really shot itself in the foot with the letting go of Roman and Renaldo. This takes them down several notches on the credibility scale as far as I am concerned. Now Cyril has also pulled the Bela trick on them. If the DA leaves the GNU because of this, Cyril and his boys can continue looting and gaaning aan without anybody interfering. If the DA stays within the GNU they will be seen as part of the ANC and lose support.

      Along with that, Parks Tau, the ANC Trade and Industry Minister, has utilised the B-BBEE Act, to approve the Legal Sector Code so as to 'accelerate transformation', essentially kicking further race policy into overdrive. This apparently blindsided Andrew Whitfield, the DA Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry, who said he had received a 700 page technical report the week before, and so was not fully aware of what's going on. Not evident that the ANC is taking the DA's policy positions seriously in this coalition. Yeah it's been a very bad week for them.

      The outcome of this election was always going to be a loose-loose situation for the DA. But yeah. Trust a liberal to succumb to media bias. By firing these two people, they basically validate the false narrative the media projected on to them. Imagine the power this gives the media. Instead of standing and defending their own, possibly seeking legal action for libel against the media, they just bow down to whatever narrative the media spins. The DA clearly hasn't learned the lessons of the Elana Barkhuizen affair in 2019.

      1. Loss of School Autonomy: One of the most significant criticisms is that the bill would shift more decision-making power to the government. Currently, School Governing Bodies (SGBs) play a crucial role in managing schools, particularly in determining language policies, admissions, and other governance aspects. The BELA Bill would give the Minister of Education and provincial authorities more control over these decisions, which many argue will undermine local governance.
      2. Language Policy: The bill gives provincial departments the power to change a school's language policy, which many schools fear could erode the use of mother-tongue languages, especially Afrikaans, in certain institutions. Critics argue that this threatens cultural and linguistic diversity.

    • @ronnymaronza3898
      @ronnymaronza3898 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      3. Homeschooling Regulation: Homeschooling communities have raised concerns about the new regulations and requirements imposed by the bill. They fear that the stricter registration process and oversight might infringe on the rights of parents to choose how their children are educated.
      4. Compulsory School Attendance: The bill proposes that children must attend Grade R (pre-school), making early education mandatory. Some parents feel this takes away their right to decide the appropriate age for their child to start formal education

    • @ronnymaronza3898
      @ronnymaronza3898 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      5. Infrastructure and Resource Challenges: Some critics argue that the government has not addressed existing problems in the education system, like infrastructure issues and resource shortages in underprivileged schools, and that the BELA Bill focuses too much on regulation rather than solving these underlying challenges.
      6. Increased Bureaucracy: The bill could add more administrative burdens on schools and educators, particularly with stricter requirements for reporting and compliance. This may divert attention from actual teaching and learning.

      They have become stronger because voters are beginning to wake up to the consequences of splitting the vote. DA won 17 wards on 11th September & most were huge wins. The 6 Minister posts are proving positive & showing the inept ANC clowns how to be proactive. The GNU will remain in tact. To be honest, I think Ramaphosa is rather enjoying having the assistance & input from the various oppositions in the GNU as his collective execs have no work ethics! It would be interesting to know what qualifications his so called cadres actually have for their positions in which Ramaphosa placed them!

    Some of which is so far removed from the the truth and flanged together to get a reaction .. which they seem to have achieved.
    I would have thought John Steenhuysen has a bit more backbone that that?
    The DA seems to want to live in a sanitised version of the world, where people do not have points of view. Which funnily enough, many times spark debate.

    Going forward, 2 things:
    1. Fix this and make it right
    2. Don't be a ball-less leader on such matters.
    You have no room for wishy washing leadership in your decision making.
