Which are easy to counter with coyote runners and arrow knights. Actually ended up beating a French player because of Eagle Runner Knights. Definitely their best unit late game. Maces fall off HARD late game due to having no shipment upgrades besides the health bonus. So you gotta switch off of them during the fortress age into Eagle Runner Knights.

As Spanish, I produced many tercios and send them just to destroy enemy buildings and then avoid my enemy to have many villagers. Dude the french are ridiculous strong. I dismantled the highest difficulty AI in 15 minutes. With every other faction I play I get absolutely fucked. Including the overpowered USA and the fucking annoying ethiopia.

@@ricardodemarco3486 Yeah, you can use them early on with some crossbowmen for Age 2 rushes, but they still are good afterwards, given Spain can upgrade them to tercios. With the right upgrades, they do have a good bit of hp, they end cavalry and as you said, they are annoying as hell for raids. I typically don't forgo field guns for them, given the value of artillery against armies, but once the enemy army got wiped pikes can still make a great spammable unit to send into the enemy base to burn down stuff. Or, as you said, drop a few in a location where the enemy does not expect them and start pillaging.

@@fyurerys Russia defeated Sweeds on Poltava fields by quantity(30 000 Sweeds X 75 000 Russians). They also went for quantity in Napoleon wars. In the first Commonwealth-Russian war the russians had two times the size of the opposing Polish-Lithuanian army in the most battles. In the second war, the numbers were 100 000 - 115 000 men for the russians and around 40 000 men for the Polish-Lithuanians. And I think that I don't need to mention that since spring 1943 the russians had around 7 000 000 men on the eastern front while the germans had only 3 400 000(but yeah I know WW2 is not in AOE3 so this propably does not count). You see... the russians won because they had more experienced commanders and significantly more troops than their opponent. So the "stereotype" is actually true in most cases.
My fav is France, and not because how easy it is to play with it, but because I was into French history, Napoleon etc. back in the days when I started playing AoE3, so I wanted to see how accurate the game was. And it happens that I really enjoyed France and I still do, although I very much enjoy playing every other civ in the game. It’s just that France is the closest to my heart if you know what I mean ;D 👍
Every strategy game I've played, like EU3, Civ, Vikky 2, CK 2, etc, my first pick is always France. I'm a big Francophile so it's my go-to country. I do play other civs too, but I keep going back to France 💙🤍💗
I used to play russians until I noticed spanish can literally instantly create archaic units with like 1 or 2 cards and some minor upgrades. Who wants strelets when you can have instant tercios and crossbows (YES not joking when you literally vomit them out instantly they are very decent)
@@oom-3262 I am a russian player and I usually use muskets, sometimes along with cannons and cavalry. Occasionally grenadiers are interesting too. Strelets aren't good in the late game because they use population so inefficiently because they are so weak. Sometimes I don't get them in age 2 either because they are so easily killed by cavalry. I always use muskets but only sometimes strelets along with them. You get get more power on the board at at time with a stronger unit. One of my favorite tricks though was to do an age 2 rush, switch to eco after sending in some resource crates and military units, spam strelets while going to age 3, then use the card to change strelets into muskets (this saves you a couple thousand resources if you have more than 100 strelets when the change happens), then ship a cannon shipment. So it is a fast age 2 rush followed up 5-10 minutes later with +100 veteran muskets and cannons. Then I build 3 town centers and get 99 villies before my musket and cannon army is dead, if it fails to finish them off.
Portuguese description accurate, can confirm. I dont even build any military unit until age 3. Only after i get attacked. Though that sometimes messes me up

This was great! I started out playing with Brit but because of your videos, I’ve developed all the civs, basically trying out decks or strats I see in your videos! Aztecs are a current favorite at the moment cuz of that skull knight rush vid you did with danzil. Love the content man, keep it up!

Never has there been a video more accurate. Wow. You need to make more content like this... how about a video entitled "10 Different Type of AoE Players". E.g. The guy that won't ready up until the teams are perfectly balanced or the guy that can only rush and refuses to do anything else, or the guy that is super cocky, starts to lose, lambasts his teammates and then resigns, etc.

Eagle Runner Knight has no known counter? What? Eagle Runner Knight is a substitute for ranged cavalry, countered by heavy and long range infantry. Coyote runner is a substitute for heavy cavalry, countered by heavy infantry and ranged cavalry.
unless you've been in a cave your whole life and play offline, then you would absolutely know how accurate this is. And oh yea... treaty players XD don't get me started with them
I play French but use mostly skirmishers with artillery as backup. I usually bring a small squad of cavalry to snipe high value targets (like cannons and daimyos), go attack buildings while the skirmishers buy time, and harass weakpoints in enemy formations.

You were bang on about Brit players since I'm one myself. Though I rely more on naval power, especially when I can take villagers to small islands and make house islands with towers and/or a fort. Plus a massive land force attacking at the enemys front whilst the ships will bombard their base from behind. The Dutch, Spanish, Japanese and Aztecs are fun for me too.
British livestock economy, Spain's Lancer and the Sioux Rifle Rider could get a bit more of a mention. I'll explain shortly why. -British lifestock: lifestock in general gathers fast, but needs an investment, which isn't worth it. The British however can collect 300% faster, which collect insanely fast. -Spain's Lancer has unlike most other heavy cav a defense bonus vs ranged. This combined with their overall good stats makes them very strong. In a 1v1 face off they can even beat dragoons (if they are not micro managed to hit and run). -Sioux Rifle Rider: a dragoon unit with also a bonus vs heavy infantry and capable of deleting arty even faster than oher dragoons. The only units not getting shred by them are light infantry, which isn't made that often in the later ages.
Mexicans from Wars of Liberty mod: - Free pistoleros/outlaws with each researched technology (highly effective raiders which you will automatically use since they use so much population) - Soldaderas (anti cav infantry) can heal. - Stupidly high hp for insurgentes (regular infantry). - Explorer can build three different presidios from which you can train settlers and soldiers. - Farmable XP from Generales if put on a capitol (Generales also function as an overpowered spy which can set fires). - XP overtime from houses (early shipment). They're just the perfect definition for turtling and winning but a bit op imo

I used to play above all with French. With the edict of Nantes and the upgrade that speeds cavalry production up, if you have enough gold, you can produce one curaissier per second and a lot of them within short time
Within a single match yesterday about half your descriptions were confirmed: Aztec wtf infantry, Sioux doing his own thing, Dutch (myself) not happy about rushing but following the Ottoman into the early battle while the British guy stayed home and spammed houses.
I actually started playing france because a friend was being annoying as japan and frances good eco vils and good skirmishers made sure if he failed at rushing me I would russia him with skirmish some musk and cav and out eco him by a large margin Edit: Also some culverins so ı can snipe fire arrows
My fav civs were the Russians (I'm part Ukrainian, closest thing I could get) and the Portuguese. I loved spamming halberdiers and cassadors. I loved the Portuguese so much I used to make songs with their settler quotes and sing them when I was playing with my imaginary friends (I was an elementary school kid, what can I say?). I watched a Brazilian drama years later and immediately remembered "vo fazer" from AOE 3. It's been years since I've played! Brings back memories...
Dont no how common it was but i played ottams for the free villages to make a mega economy and rushed for the janissary, great bombard death ball and i pretty much never lost
Since the days of Red Alert 2, which are early 2000s, I love rushing. The faster you rush the better. That was my strategy in C&C Generals ZH, that was my rule of a thumb in HoMM games, that was my prefered strategy in AoE2. The faster you attack, the sooner you win. It's risky, but if successful it pays of so much more. And Ottomans were my fav civ since the first day when I got the game. What's not to love about them? Incredibly strong economy, very powerful units, mosque techs that send you 3(!) great bombards! They are my go to civ, always have been and always will be. Russia and Germany though are close second. One just cannot dislike Russia and its human wave spam, it's always fun no matter what. On the pther hand, Germany needs lots of skill and micro, but those ulhan raids... They are very satisfying indeed.
I've been playing France in AoE3 for about 2 years and I don't cav rush, but I know people who do. You might actually be surprised to see I build more defenses than cav.

I used to play russians until I noticed spanish can literally instantly create archaic units with like 1 or 2 cards and some minor upgrades. Who wants strelets when you can have instant tercios and crossbows (YES not joking when you literally vomit them out instantly they are very decent)
@@oom-3262 I am a russian player and I usually use muskets, sometimes along with cannons and cavalry. Occasionally grenadiers are interesting too. Strelets aren't good in the late game because they use population so inefficiently because they are so weak. Sometimes I don't get them in age 2 either because they are so easily killed by cavalry. I always use muskets but only sometimes strelets along with them. You get get more power on the board at at time with a stronger unit. One of my favorite tricks though was to do an age 2 rush, switch to eco after sending in some resource crates and military units, spam strelets while going to age 3, then use the card to change strelets into muskets (this saves you a couple thousand resources if you have more than 100 strelets when the change happens), then ship a cannon shipment. So it is a fast age 2 rush followed up 5-10 minutes later with +100 veteran muskets and cannons. Then I build 3 town centers and get 99 villies before my musket and cannon army is dead, if it fails to finish them off.

The guy that won't ready up until the teams are perfectly balanced or the guy that can only rush and refuses to do anything else, or the guy that is super cocky, starts to lose, lambasts his teammates and then resigns, etc.

Wow, just wow!Love this video (as every other video of yours) and I'm kinda India-main if there's a term like that, and imo India is the lamest when u boom with Karni mata colonial, super cheap TCs, 2 Mango grove in base with karni mata, etc.Then u hit imp eventually and spam the hell out of ur opponent with maxed out mahouts, gurkhas and exp tigers.Oh and also gotta love the opponent's walls down, cease, slowly march in their eco and use taunt 16 (I'm in ur base, killing ur dudes) part!That's the best about India!

Anyways, nice video. :p Honestly, I play Russia because I like setting up an area of the map as my own and defending it. I've always been more fond of quality over quantity too, but losing troops makes me sort of freeze up- with Russia, losing troops is so inevitable that I do a better job of replacing them and fuss far less over each lost unit.

Eagle Runner Knight is a substitute for ranged cavalry, countered by heavy and long range infantry. Coyote runner is a substitute for heavy cavalry, countered by heavy infantry and ranged cavalry.

I play French but use mostly skirmishers with artillery as backup. I usually bring a small squad of cavalry to snipe high value targets (like cannons and daimyos), go attack buildings while the skirmishers buy time, and harass weakpoints in enemy formations.
True...when i used to play as russia my mind was like lets see how far can u keep the fight on as im sending endless streletsy and musketeers at you.or when i play as ottoman just jennissaries and great bombards....we are gonna blow everything away in one punch.

You were bang on about Brit players since I'm one myself. Though I rely more on naval power, especially when I can take villagers to small islands and make house islands with towers and/or a fort. Plus a massive land force attacking at the enemys front whilst the ships will bombard their base from behind.
The Dutch, Spanish, Japanese and Aztecs are fun for me too.

British livestock economy, Spain's Lancer and the Sioux Rifle Rider could get a bit more of a mention. I'll explain shortly why.
-British lifestock: lifestock in general gathers fast, but needs an investment, which isn't worth it. The British however can collect 300% faster, which collect insanely fast.
-Spain's Lancer has unlike most other heavy cav a defense bonus vs ranged. This combined with their overall good stats makes them very strong. In a 1v1 face off they can even beat dragoons (if they are not micro managed to hit and run).
-Sioux Rifle Rider: a dragoon unit with also a bonus vs heavy infantry and capable of deleting arty even faster than oher dragoons. The only units not getting shred by them are light infantry, which isn't made that often in the later ages.
Time for an updated version of this in aoe3 DE! With the two new civs and buffed/nerfed old civs
Mexicans from Wars of Liberty mod:
- Free pistoleros/outlaws with each researched technology (highly effective raiders which you will automatically use since they use so much population)
- Soldaderas (anti cav infantry) can heal.
- Stupidly high hp for insurgentes (regular infantry).
- Explorer can build three different presidios from which you can train settlers and soldiers.
- Farmable XP from Generales if put on a capitol (Generales also function as an overpowered spy which can set fires).
- XP overtime from houses (early shipment).
They're just the perfect definition for turtling and winning but a bit op imo

I used to play above all with French. With the edict of Nantes and the upgrade that speeds cavalry production up, if you have enough gold, you can produce one curaissier per second and a lot of them within short time

Within a single match yesterday about half your descriptions were confirmed: Aztec wtf infantry, Sioux doing his own thing, Dutch (myself) not happy about rushing but following the Ottoman into the early battle while the British guy stayed home and spammed houses.

I actually started playing france because a friend was being annoying as japan and frances good eco vils and good skirmishers made sure if he failed at rushing me I would russia him with skirmish some musk and cav and out eco him by a large margin

Now one of Wars of Liberty mod civs.
My fav civs were the Russians (I'm part Ukrainian, closest thing I could get) and the Portuguese. I loved spamming halberdiers and cassadors. I loved the Portuguese so much I used to make songs with their settler quotes and sing them when I was playing with my imaginary friends (I was an elementary school kid, what can I say?). I watched a Brazilian drama years later and immediately remembered "vo fazer" from AOE 3. It's been years since I've played! Brings back memories...

Dont no how common it was but i played ottams for the free villages to make a mega economy and rushed for the janissary, great bombard death ball and i pretty much never lost
Since the days of Red Alert 2, which are early 2000s, I love rushing. The faster you rush the better. That was my strategy in C&C Generals ZH, that was my rule of a thumb in HoMM games, that was my prefered strategy in AoE2. The faster you attack, the sooner you win. It's risky, but if successful it pays of so much more. And Ottomans were my fav civ since the first day when I got the game. What's not to love about them? Incredibly strong economy, very powerful units, mosque techs that send you 3(!) great bombards! They are my go to civ, always have been and always will be. Russia and Germany though are close second. One just cannot dislike Russia and its human wave spam, it's always fun no matter what. On the pther hand, Germany needs lots of skill and micro, but those ulhan raids... They are very satisfying indeed.

I've been playing France in AoE3 for about 2 years and I don't cav rush, but I know people who do. You might actually be surprised to see I build more defenses than cav.
