😂”one day should be enough” THATS HILLARIOUS!! I’ve been twice 7 days the first time 2nd time 4 and we still never made it to everything we wanted to see😅 I’m definitely a country girl originally from Montana and grew up most my life in Washington and I would move to Vienna in a ❤beat!! That’s how amazingly gorgeous, full of history, beautiful people!!!I could go on and on !!!

Oh... as a resident of Vienna, you were so close to many lovely beer spots! You definitely need to come back! There is a reason why it keeps winning 'the most liveable city in the world' award! As a Brit, I love living here!

You were mail in the 1st District, everything is more expensive there. There's cheaper beer prices outside in other areas. I'm from Houston and have lived in Vienna for about 33 years and I'm absolutely in love with the city. You did an amazing job of capturing the beauty of the city.

Thanks for the great video. I was lucky to spend one year in Vienna as a music student in 1971-72. Best year of my life. As a student I saw over 50 operas in the Staatsoper and over 50 concerts in the Musikverein. World class music, then and today. I like to suggest to visitors in these many TH-cam videos that a great deal of the beauty, history and culture of Vienna is in the inside of those buildings. Art, music, culture. Why is Vienna architecture so stately? It was the heart of the Habsburg empire for many centuries starting around 1290. A wonderful city to visit and enjoy. Get INSIDE those buildings. Well, if you had more than a day or so. 😊 I lived a couple of blocks from the Votiv Kirche at 11:13. A short walk to the strassebahn and you had access to many cultural venues. Enjoy.

Vienna looks amazing, not to mention it has a rich musical heritage which is something I love. Question, where do you leave your bags when you don’t have access to an airbnb/hotel? Some hotels hold them with a reservation but wondering if you use the lockers or some other service, those are pricey.

    • @BrianandCarrie
      @BrianandCarrie  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Vienna was beautiful, wish we had more time there. We've always just kept our bags with us, unless we are at a hotel. Typically just find a good pub or coffee shop while we wait.

Did you try Vienna’s signature cake the Sachertorte?? Vienna is truly magical. We stayed for just over a week and could have stayed much much longer. OMG ... the musical history with a continuing impressive array of operas and live music events, the restaurants (we loved our 'Singing Waiter' one night), the traditional wine taverns, a public transit system that is one of the best in the world although the city is so walkable (walk the Ringstrasse) and easy to cycle. Of course the architecture, museums, the Hofburg and Schönbrunn Palace, the Wiener Riesenrad (built in I believe 1897), coffee at Café Central (yes please) and the Spanish Riding School (incredible). I could go on and on - you'll have to go back. Just imagine Vienna during the Christmas Season!! So, glad you made it there.

    • @BrianandCarrie

I was in Vienna in June with some family. We were in Europe for 10 days. We explored Germany and Austria. Vienna had to be my favorite part of the whole trip. It was just amazing to see this great city, and everything it has to offer. We tried the Sachertorte, and it was absolutely delicious! We saw a statue of Johann Strauss in Stadtpark, and that was right up my alley since I listen to classical music.

Viennese here: you have mostly covered the 1st district and Ringstrasse which is more expensive. Although prices have significantly increased recently you can still get a beer for around €4 at most places outside the city center. €6 is definitely not an average price for Vienna. Unfortunately Vienna gets unpleasantly touristy over the Summer months. Maybe come back in December next time to see the christmas markets. Glad you liked Vienna over all!

That's some whirlwind (a 7-hour glimpse!) of the city; thanks for making and posting your video.I hope you all can go back soon. Meanwhile:
    0:47 Hauptbahnhof / central station (10th district)
0:53 Goldeggasse, Pfarre St. Elizabeth (4th district)
    1:20 Karlsplatz (4.)
2:03 Staatsoper (1.): the 1869 unveiling got such bad initial press that one of the two architects committed suicide.
    2:51 Albertinaplatz, Augustinerbastei "balcony"
    4:05 Neuer Markt, Kärntner Strasse
    4:25 Stephansplatz: Haas-Haus, Stephansdom
    6:16 Tuchmacherbrunnen
    6:35 Peterskirche
    7:15 Tuchlaubenhof
7:35 Bognergasse: Art Nouveau facade for Engel-Apotheke at left
    7:56 Am Hof
8:15 Freyung, Palais Ferstel: Xocolat (mmm), Donaunixenbrunnen
    10:35 Sigmund-Freud-Park, Votivkirche (9.)
11:20 Universität (University of Vienna, 1.): the architect of this building is the same architect for the Votive Church and Palais Ferstel: Heinrich Ferstel.
    12:20 Cafe Landtmann, Burgtheater
    12:25 Hofburg: Neue Burg
13:10 "Burg" is not quite the same as "Bier" 😆
13:25 Maria-Theresien-Platz: Maria-Theresien-Denkmal, NHM, KHM. Empress Maria Theresa was the only woman to rule during the entirety of the centuries-long Habsburg Empire.
    13:48 Mozart-Denkmal, Burggarten
    14:25 Karlsplatz, Karlskirche (4.)
It's a relatively easy walk between Hauptbahnhof and the Innere Stadt, but do make use of the better public transport systems in the world with its U-Bahn city trains, trams ("Bims"), and buses. For example, the U-Bahn U1 line is a very frequent and "straight shot" among Stephansplatz, Karlsplatz, and Hauptbahnhof. Vienna is also a great city of wine: there may be no greater narrow coincidence that the German words for Vienna and wine are, respectively, Wien and Wein.

We visited the zoo twice 🤣😍 Prater is also nice and so were the rest of the spots. We came to the conclusion that to discover and see Vienna properly, you would need weeks or months. Very saturated city and lots of cultural events and places. Are you planning on coming back to Vienna?

It's certainly one of Europe's grandest cities. Architecture, sophistication, elegance, and world class all come with a cost. Not quite where a budget traveler would be able to spend very much time visiting. So with that in mind it's expected you could only do it for a day. Just not what we are used to see you do. I think you are better at the budget places. It's more your comfort zone, it's what lights you up, you can see the passion in you both. So stick with it. You guys are a $2-3 beer type. I've been to Italy several times and it's not cheap. No $ 2-3 beers. Hope you can handle it. It could be a long month. Sri Lanka, Nepal, and India would captivate you!! Think about it. I've been to them.

As long as you keep your hotel costs in check (public transit is great, you can easily stay a bit outside too without too much hassle), you can do more than you would think. Well prepared there are some surprising budget options, given you have enough time as well. Not just the "free" tours which are a good choice in most European cities. For example, standing tickets to the states opera can be cheaper than the mere guided tour to the building when nothing is going on inside. Almost all churches are for free and there a lot of stunning ones. Musuems cost money but if you focus on some, you keep yourself busy for the whole day in one of the large ones. There are some really nice view points which are totally for free, for example the roof of the City IKEA, which is quite unique in other ways too (not too many urban Ikea stores to be found around the world). If you want cheap beer though, the choice would be, get some cooled beer from the supermarket and go to sit down alon the bankments of the Danube canal. Locals do that too.
The cheapest beer you can get in Vienna though is when you take a regio-jet train to Brno, Prague or Budapest where they charge hilariously low 80 Cents for 0.5L of one of the best Czech beers I know (Bernard).

We will have a video soon on our expenses for the last month of fast travel. Our future plans will have us back into our lower-cost, budget travel soon. Spending almost 6 months in SE Asia has allowed us to splurge a bit more than we normally would. Keep in mind that we aren't "vacationing" so our daily expenses are still lower than most. After our time in Italy, we will also be doing an expanse report on our time here.

Wow, you witnessed the very beginning of Vienna's subway system. Karlsplatz was one gigantic hole in the ground back then and a deep one at that. Vienna was like a completely different place back then as well, much more "The Third Man". With the fall of the Iron Curtain it has changed a lot and the subway system has grown to a pretty substantial size.

    • @alfredschaubmayr1958
      @alfredschaubmayr1958 ปีที่แล้ว

      You think right.
The first subway was opened in 1976. In the meantime, there are 5 lines (the sixth is currently being built and there are enough construction sites in Vienna again at the moment). Apart from that, Vienna has probably one of the best public transport systems in the world and super cheap (365€ Annual Ticket).
I have been living in Vienna for 15 years now and I know why it has always been voted the most livable city in recent years. Nevertheless, I am happy when I see the city from a tourist's point of view. Many things become natural when you live here, but for others they are extraordinary.

Vienna is definitely a place where you need to have a 2 or 3 day splurge if you're just passing through....Beers are unbelievably expensive in Western Europe these days. I was shocked at the price increases just from last year, let alone from just over a few years ago. I'm sure, at least it seems, that you're building up a future itinerary of the places you need to go back to and spend more time...
This summer has been just too crazy with tourists in Europe, between the skyrocketing airfares and inflation. This was the first real post Covid summer, where it seems everyone wanted to take that long put off trip. Hopefully, things will simmer down over the year ahead....

Hey guys another quality video. Of course you can't see Vienna in 7 hours. I also had a short stay many years ago, and it was just a tip of the iceberg. I want to go back. What strikes me in comparing to Prague or Lisbon or Porto would be how everything is in pristine condition. No graffiti, no buildings in disrepair. All of it shines and glows. Sad, but understandable, that you couldn't get out to Schonbrunn castle. Like Versailles, an incredible spot. The Opera house is world reknown like Paris. Note that Mozart's actual burial place is not known, but they have statue, and some other places they believe was where he was laid to rest in the City of Music. It is correct that there is no specific grave of Mozart but it is actually known in which cemetery he is burried. It is a dissolved cemetery called "St. Marxer Friedhof" somewhat east of the main station. It is not really a tourist attraction but it is open to the public, even if there is quite some noise from the nearby Autobahn A23. Some old graves survived and there is a lot of trees and greenery. If you are visiting the famous Vienna Central Cemetery it might be an interesting stop along the way.

Viennese here....Well in the inner city a beer is expensive...but how should you know
A beer costs roughly 4 to 4,50 Euro in a restaurant/bar/beer garden outside the touristy spots.
A budget alternative is to buy a bottle or a can at the grocery´s (has a huge variety of local beers to choose even fridged), that would cost roughly half the price, and then sit down in a park or drinking while walking through the city ...other than in the US public drinking is allowed and no big deal, and nobody cares....we have even a term for "drinking a beer while strolling through the city" = "Wegbier" meaning literally "way beer" = expressing "the beer for the way"
But in general in order to get a glimpse/brief inside of the city in order to enjoy the vibe some days of staying is needed.

So it's a no visit for me for now :)... Anyways, are you planning to return to Romania this year? Or maybe next year? Spending 7 hours in Vienna is utter nonsense. Then better not come at all.
That´s about the time you should spend in the Museum of Art History alone, and then with a small, hand-picked number of works of art that you are interested in for a reason. And preferably a guided tour.

We'd rather spend 7 hours than not at all. Thank you for watching and adding your opinion.
      Cheers.

How much are bikes rent there? I want to compare to super expensive Toronto where it is $7 for half an hour

WOW!! That is expensive. Sorry that we didn't check the price assuming that it would be affordable, maybe not.
