    Dear Martina, I’ve been very busy for the past month so I’m catching up on your lovely podcasts. Your striped cardigan is turning out beautifully, it will be so cozy when you are done! I was knitting on a new cast on (Pearl Cardigan) while watching. I’m making it with BC Garn baby alpaca and was thrilled you featured so many beautiful projects with this amazing yarn in this episode. I’m holding it with a strand of mohair and using 3.5mm needles, which is giving me a drapey but not too loose gauge. It took me a while to find the right project for this yarn. And it is SO soft. 😮 I cannot wait to have this garment. Your hug me home top will be incredibly luxurious - what a treat! And how amazing of your sister to bring you that ❤.
    There is no need to „explain“ why you do things the way you do. I love it that you play yarn chicken and how creative it makes you. I recently lost at yarn chicken and took the easy way out by ordering 1 more ball. It’s a gift for my husband and I did not think he would appreciate having 3/4 sleeves or a stripe somewhere…. But I did find myself wondering, what would Martina do 😂? Your snowy hills are beautiful, thank you for sharing!

    Hello knitting friend, your podcast brings me such joy because I can feel how much you love your craft. Never apologize for your creative spirit leading you on a yarn journey. Anyone can follow a knitting pattern, but you have taken knitting a step further and are creating a one of a kind piece of artwork, really. You say I’m playing yarn chicken….well, whatever you want to call it, but when we are forced to think outside the box, outside the pattern we are in a realm of creating something unique to the world! Picasso didn’t run out an buy a new green paint tube…he said ok, what can I mix to create a green of the fields the way my eye sees the green….voilà masterpiece was born! Continue your joy in whatever you make. I also enjoy hearing about Italy in your podcasts. I look forward to learning more from you. Happy knitting, gayle in Stillwater MInnesota, USA…it’s cold here too❤️

    I enjoy seeing your creativity. May l suggest the following go with your idea of making a cowl.
    I would use the dark grey only on the cuffs on your grey project.
    If you have enough yarn perhaps balloon the sleeve bottom & keep the long cuffs on your picket fence cardigan

    Hi, its early, very early here in Auckland... hanging around in bed knitting. We had so much rain in few hours the earth below started to fill with water. The usually quiet underground springs came alive and the earth expanded with water.... it coudn't drain away. It wasn't too bad, just mainly property damage, which can be fixed - I think 3 people lost their lives, 2 of them was trying to do white water rafting and got carried away and one persons house came down a land slip. Most people are ok, the flooding was localised - we have to work together to help each other clean up and the sun will come out in few days and dry us... it is summer here!!!

    I could not agree more, Martina. I used to be a jeweler. whenever I’ve seen a design I have said to myself, “I could make that,!” Not, I have to have that. The making happens and the creativity comes full force with firm my hands. It becomes something so precious and beautiful that I am more proud to have because it was more than writing a check or pulling out my credit cad. Buying yarn is the beginning. Having yarn and having no projects is sad. So make make make to your hearts delight.
    I love the long raglan cardigan you self drafted. Its awesome.

      @@wegrowild id love to send you a calendar competition
      I developed and sponsored for polymer clay artists 22 h years ago. It was the first competition in print. We had a gallery show. Im retired from my career as a n metal and clay and glass artist jeweler, I made evening bags and home decor. Im now knitting mostly. And other fiber things. I dont have images online anywhere., i need someone to build websites. Of past art if thats a thing?
      Current making too. Thanks for encouragement. Keep on keeping on as we say in America.

    Oh about milkweed, I read that the yarn is light fingering but yours doesn't look like light fingering. Did you use something a bit thicker like 4ply and what size needles? (I'd love to make it but I don't have light fingering and I want something thicker so it doesn't take me too long!!!!!!!!!)

    • @wegrowild
      @wegrowild  ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly, my project was knitted with needles size 4 mm in a DK yarn. I simply knitted 1 size smaller than I would if I had to knit it in the" right" gauge/yarn🤍 I like to modify patterns to suit my yarn choices 🤍
