Even if it means reclaiming for another project - the likelihood of repeating an entire garment similarly is unlikely. ( most times ;)!) Seeing someone else critique FOs with some that didn't meet expectations even if they were spot on is also something that helps me to try choosing what. I don't join KALs because I can't be bothered to post about my project...but I think your KAL for lesser known designers and designs is fabulous!!! While I am grateful--as all knitters are--to Ravelry, I do think it has created (together with the phenomenon of the 'celebrity' designer) a real mono-culture in the knitting world. Everyone is knitting the same things by the same designers...and this seems so far from the potential and inventiveness and freshness of the craft. I look forward to hearing more about lesser known designers in future podcasts. Happy New Year Selma and best wishes from Kingston for the new year!

But this Christmas I was just missing so many loved ones that have passed. Even four legged family members. I pray for a better year for my family and friends. And hope for peace on earth!
We lost my little sister and my mum this year, in between dad received a terminal diagnosis (currently very ill in hospital). Then two weeks before Christmas hubby was diagnosed with cancer. It's been a very tough Christmas - lots of tears. Sending hugs to you and yours from us. While they are in our hearts they are still here with us xxx

Hi Selma! Thank you for your channel. I always enjoy watching. If you decide you do want eyes on your gnomes, I’ve seen some knitters use a small Sharpie to color single stitches instead of duplicate stitch. I would try it on the bottom of a sock before committing, though.

You have such a lovely and soothing voice. I love your knits. I just wanted to tell you about a problem that I had using beans for the base of a project. The recipient of the gift had dogs and they got hold of the bean-stuffed item. They chewed them up and were quite sick when the beans expanded in their bellies. They survived but I have been very careful since then. Lesson learned. Happy New Year to you and your family!

Customers of my LYS have knit many Gnomes. We have used very large washers we buy at hardware store. It weighs the bottom well and makes it flat for standing.
Thank you for another fabulous video. I have just finished Gnatty and used a large, heavy washer bought from Rona’s. He is my second gnome and I like the idea of knitting a gnome each winter. Happy New Year from Waterloo!

Love the two focuses for 2025. Can the designers be crochet designers. Two Australian podcasters are running a lovelocal focus to highlight Australian and New Zealand designers, fibre and dyers. Loved the turkey in the snow walk! Lovely motivations on destashing and decluttering…which I have done a lot of this week. I looked at all who had pictures of that blue tee and honestly only person who looked great in it wore a size 2 and it was a neutral color. I wonder if the placement of the lace panel should have been in a different place. I don’t know. I don’t think it would work on me either. Happy new year and to seeing more of your lovely projects.!
Thanks so much for sharing all the wonderful things that you make. It's good to reflect on our crafting and see what worked and what didn't really fill that brief garments wise. I think it would be good to do it with everything. I knit a lot for other people, I always worry that they won't like what I make or won't use it. I keep asking and so far no one has said that's enough. While they keep wearing them, I will keep making them. Thanks for sharing all of your making, I really loved seeing what you were sewing too. I want to get back to sewing but I struggle getting things to fit well. I am looking forward to this new year and your craft alongs.
Although I am not knitting the Julgubbe stocking pattern, I have been knitting arm warmers using a yarn made by The Fibre Company, the same company that makes Amble, the fingering weight yarn that's featured in the Julegubbe pattern. It's Cumbria and the gauge ranges from DK to worsted, depending on your needle size. Cumbria is a nice yarn.
I really enjoyed this. I look forward to the KALs in 2025. I had already determined to knit mostly from my stash this year-for me, for gifts, for charity. Have a wonderful New Year. See you then.

I see what you mean when you mention that the Springline Tee doesn't fit well. I wonder if it is the lace panels on either side of the top. They give the illusion of the entire garment being 'pulled' to both sides. Almost as if it is not balanced. The bottom of the garment is quite full and not shaped as well as it could be. Just my initial thoughts. I'm going to sign up for your Patreon and am looking forward to more of your inspiration there as well! Krista

Again I love your podcast. ♥️ I am danish, and I know a bit about Andreas Ruthemann: He used to spent his childhood summers i Danmark in a summer house area, on a Road called Mårvej. Mårvej = Martenroad or Martenway. And the blue pattern in the sweater is inspired from the danish very old, royal and valued danish porcelain called Musselmalet. And ‘Musselmalet’ is a protected name, so he could not name the sweater after that. And this is why he came up with a name that gave him good memories of Danmark. Happy New Year! 🎉

Great podcast year and knitting year for you. I’m in a knitting slump. Will be watching for something to inspire me. I don’t wear shawls in Florida but I love making them. I might look at some old Steven West patterns and knit a piece of art. I have a lace weight tee pattern I like. It’s the Breezy summer tee by Jane Balle. Only 29 projects currently, yet one of the few tee patterns suitable for warm weather. Circular yoke patterns are usually not flattering for me, but this one fits very well. this is a wonderful podcast! And what a beautiful way to close it with snowy winter scenes. I loved looking at your year of knits, starting with Nathan and Gnatty. Just so that you know, gnomes don’t like to be symmetrical. They are asymmetric folks by nature so I’m sure that Gnatty is very happy just as he is even if he is filled with Beans and might be a bit gassy. Have a very wonderful New Year’s.

I see what you mean when you mention that the Springline Tee doesn't fit well. I wonder if it is the lace panels on either side of the top. They give the illusion of the entire garment being 'pulled' to both sides. Almost as if it is not balanced. The bottom of the garment is quite full and not shaped as well as it could be. Just my initial thoughts. I'm going to sign up for your Patreon and am looking forward to more of your inspiration there as well! Krista

When I change needle sizes on socks, I use the larger size needle on the legs and change to the smaller needle on the heel flap and foot.
I love the idea of featuring lesser known designers and patterns. There are so many lovely knits that should be promoted. I have the perfect patterns and yarn in my stash to use. Happy New Year!

Again I love your podcast. ♥️ I am danish, and I know a bit about Andreas Ruthemann: He used to spent his childhood summers i Danmark in a summer house area, on a Road called Mårvej. Mårvej = Martenroad or Martenway. And the blue pattern in the sweater is inspired from the danish very old, royal and valued danish porcelain called Musselmalet. And ‘Musselmalet’ is a protected name, so he could not name the sweater after that. And this is why he came up with a name that gave him good memories of Danmark. Happy New Year! 🎉

Great podcast year and knitting year for you. I’m in a knitting slump. Will be watching for something to inspire me. I don’t wear shawls in Florida but I love making them. I might look at some old Steven West patterns and knit a piece of art. I have a lace weight tee pattern I like. It’s the Breezy summer tee by Jane Balle. Only 29 projects currently, yet one of the few tee patterns suitable for warm weather. Circular yoke patterns are usually not flattering for me, but this one fits very well. this is a wonderful podcast! And what a beautiful way to close it with snowy winter scenes. I loved looking at your year of knits, starting with Nathan and Gnatty. Just so that you know, gnomes don’t like to be symmetrical. They are asymmetric folks by nature so I’m sure that Gnatty is very happy just as he is even if he is filled with Beans and might be a bit gassy. Have a very wonderful New Year’s.
