Unravelling the layers of Ram, Ravan, Sita & Hanuman with Ami Ganatra | Karishma Mehta | Ep 17

  • “Ram could be the way he was, because of Lakshman. The way this brother has stood by Ram, when he was at his lowest, is commendable. When Ram would lose control in grief of losing Sita, Lakshman would calm him down. He’d motivate him by telling stories, and when needed, also provide a negative push to get him out of that state of loss. Lakshman’s character, I think, is not explored in popular depiction as it should be. That man was beautiful!”
Who would’ve thought a software engineer and consultant who travelled the world would be drawn back to her roots, and to two scriptures that’d become her passion? But that’s exactly what happened with Ami Ganatra.
Ami, who has studied Valmiki’s Ramayana and Ved Vyas’ Mahabharata, calls the scriptures our ‘itihas’. And it was these very scriptures that became the topics of her books - Mahabharata Unravelled and Ramayana Unravelled - that give a real and unfiltered view into the world of epics.
In this insightful chat on all things Ramayana, Ami talked about it all-from uncovering the secrets of Ramayana to busting several popularly believed myths! Did you know, even Lord Ram gave an agnipariksha? We certainly didn’t!
Join us as we embark on this journey of unearthing our epics and taking away valuable lessons from them that are still relevant today! For the full conversation and an enriching dive into the world of epics, watch the episode now, don't miss out!
    We also spoke about:
    . The definition of mythology
    . The definition of a ‘hero’ & a ‘villain’
. What we can learn from Ravan
    . Ram’s agnipariksha
. Ramayana’s symbolic parallels with Diwali
    . Lakshman, the loyal brother
. Hanuman, the greatest among the intelligent
. Do the places in the Ramayana exist?

Rāmāyaṇa & Mahābhārata were also part of the syllabus of gurukuls & schooling before Britishers destroyed it. They are case studies of our ancestors with additional stories & metaphors to learn about Dharma. ☸️

@@rahullihitkar8939Why do we need to provide evidence?
'Itihaasa' itself is a Sanskrit word that we have been using since millennias for Ramayana & Mahabharata. That's the tradition of our Rishis.
You don't wanna believe it? Then nobody is asking you to.
But stop ridiculing believers, cause at the end of the day, the word 'Itihaasa' itself is from Hindu scriptures and has its distinct definition.
Western concept of 'history' is a few centuries old.
Who has asked you to use these terms as synonyms?

You people don't know the actual meaning of "mythology"... Mythology doesn't always mean fake or fictional stories. Mythology means a notion and belief system of a cult of people, which may be true and may not be true. History narrates facts without any mystical or fantasy elements. It frankly speaks about the facts the way they are. But mythology narrates an incident which may have been historical, in a metaphoric and symbolical way. And it does the narration in such a way that the people can learn something from them. So Ramayan and Mahabharat can be termed as "mythology".

Yes, they have a husband/wife relationship, but they also have a Bhagwan/Bhakta relationship in the theological sense. So this particular sankalp of Shri Ram is fulfilled by Sita mata through their uninterrupted and deep interpersonal relationship.

I think the cleaning, painting and decorating of houses before Deepawali is a practical necessity. The monsoon rains would have caused some damage and mould on the walls. Houses needed scrubbing and repairs before festival times. Putting a religious deadline to it ensured everyone did it, even the sloppy and the lazy.

I would request that Ms. Ami Ganatra must give lecture on Women Empowerment in all big Corporate world from the perspective of our Ancient History and set the example by giving the Role played by Women in our Ancient times. And how much they were empowered to fight even Demons.
For eg: Mata Sita was empowered enough that she chose Shri Ram before Swayamvar. Due to her power Shri Rama was able to broke the Shiva Dhanush.
She had enough power to fight with Demon King Ravana within a few minute. Because she had power of Mata Shakti(ie: Durga), blessings. But it is not her job. It was her husband Shri Rama has to fight and prove himself. In today's word "Status Quo".
Before Yudh with Ravana, Shri Ram had to do "Shakti" puja to get the blessings of Mata Durga. Again you can say the Women Power to fight such a big Warrior.
So, our ancient history is full of Women Empowerment.
But we lost this in last 1000 years due to Islamic devil pigs invasion.
Today it is coming back but with different ideology only for Corporate World, ie: Leftist ideology, which has no meaning in real sense in society.
If we say real sense for Society, than take eg: of Rani Chennamma, Rani Nakkati, Jhansi Ki Rani, Rani Jijabai - mother of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Ms. Nivedita(Azad Hind Sena), Mrs. Sarojini Naidu(India's Freedom fighter), Mrs. Kasturba Gandhi, Mrs. Indira Gandhi(Late PM of India) and many more.
India is only country in world where all Great Women participated and fought for India's Freedom.

He tried to raise Kailash parvat using his 20 arms but Shiva pressed his toe trapping his arms. He was warned by most of his family members (Mandodari, Kaikeshi- mother) and some of his ministers (Malyavan- his grandfather) and yet he decided to continue to do bad deeds and keep Maa Sita a prisoner.

Ami ji I have watched many of your interviews given to various TH-cam channels and podcasts and like them all. I also like the point that how you are more interested in the facts based on the original author's work of Ramayana and Mahabharata.
As usual in this interview also you have explained many things about Ramayana based on Valmiki's work. It’s really interesting to know about lesser known facts and the way how you explain it to audience
In the interview at the end, while explaining about the Hanumanji and his Gadha you mentioned about Maadhavacharya and him establishing around 700 temples of Hanumanji during 11th century. I am not sure if you are referring to the same person as I understood or someone else, if it is yes then it is true that the Gadha is not depicted in those temples but I want to bring to your notice that a couple of misunderstanding about this topic
    1. First it is about the name. The correct name is Madhvacharya (मध्वाचार्य ) and not Maadhavacharya (माधवाचार्य ). Because if I am not wrong they are two different persons in history lived during different time periods with these names.
मध्वाचार्य is a philosopher during 13CE who propounded the philosophy of TatvaVada popularly known as Dvaita philosophy. Madhvacharya ji has also told about the contamination of the original scriptures with interpolations due to various reasons during that period (700 years ago) itself and spread light on actual interpretation of History & Puranas according to the original author and in-line with eternal Vedas. In this regard he also authored some works like Mahabharata Tatparya Nirnaya, Bhagavatha Tatparya Nirnaya etc.,
Whereas Maadhavacharya(माधवाचार्य ) is one of the pontiff in the lineage of Mayavada philosophy popularly known as Advaitha propounded by Adi Shankaracharya. माधवाचार्य is a pontiff of Sringeri Sharadha Peetham (also known as Vidyaranya or Maadhava Vidyaranya) and has also authored many works. He also helped the founding kings Harihara and Bukkaraya to establish the Vijayanagara Empire and served as mentor and guide for three generations
    2. Second is regarding the establishment of 700 Hanumanji temples. It is not established by Maadhavacharya (माधवाचार्य ) but they were established by Vyasatheertha during 15th century who is a pontiff in the lineage of Madhvacharya(मध्वाचार्य ), probably 11th pontiff in the Madhvacharya's lineage. He also happens to be the Rajaguru for famous king KrishnaDevaraya of Vijayanagara Empire.

thanks for this brother , but please do not refer advait philosophy as mayavad because , because dvaitvadi ppl call advait philosophy mayavad due to their ignorance

    • @mysticsoumyaravi
      @mysticsoumyaravi 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@rggrrggr290 I am not calling Maya Vada in a negative sense, my understanding is that Maya Vada means the principle which advocates the concept of Maya (that is Jagath Mityatva). So my intention is not to demean any Sampradaya I just used it thinking it is the old or original name.

Not every body is totally devoted. Many haven't even started the journey. So their doubts must be cleared. And more so people should ask difficult question and know their answers.
Sab bhakti kartey rahenge to rakshso k questions ka jawab kaun dega. Isiliye rakhsas orani jo questions kartein hain, unko apas me discuss kar k uska Uttar dhundhna jaruri hai.

Samajh mein aata hai when one person is so passionate about a topic while the other is visibly not. It is hard to watch her sometimes. Episode made watchable only thanks to Ami ji's knowledge and charisma (pun intended). I think it came down to the limited knowledge of the host and the fact that all her questions were written down for her on her tablet. The she was reading the full question and not just looking for a keyword for a reminder of questions she actually she has.
