    26:00 Actually, in Valmiki's Ramayan, there is almost no case of Shri Rama himself conducting miracles. A major difference b/w Valmiki and others is that in Valmiki, Shri Rama was a mortal who had no idea about the fact that he was Narayan. This was important b'cos Ravan's boon from Brahma precluded him from being killed by Vishnu: it also explains why Parashurama, who _knew_ that he was Vishnu, wasn't recruited for this job. That's why even when Indra was visiting a rishi (I forget his name), he made it a point not to see Rama or else he would have bowed to him, giving the latter a hint. In the serial, everybody knows that Rama is Vishnu, but in reality, it was only a few rishis - Vasishtha, Vishwamitra, Agastya, Valmiki, Gautama, Bharadwaj, et al who knew it. It was only after Ravan's death that Brahma appeared and told Rama who he really was

    • @MrChikanu
      @MrChikanu 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Exactly! This fact must be kept in mind while trying to make sense of Ramayana

    • @DevaEkoNaaraayanah
      @DevaEkoNaaraayanah 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So When he was Vishnu, He actually knew it but Lokavyavhaar k liye he behaved that way

    • @vrishIF
      @vrishIF 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DevaEkoNaaraayanah Not if you believe Brahma's boon to Ravan was genuine
      If Vishnu was allowed to know himself inspite of a disguise he took, like he did in previous avatars, then he _himself_ could have taken on Ravan. But Ravan boasted about him or his sons taking on Vishnu directly, and the boon that he had from Brahma _precluded_ him being killed by Vishnu. That's why Parashuram wasn't assigned the task, and why Vishnu had to take birth as a man who was born _without_ those powers and had to build that up over several years. Like I mentioned above, it was only _after_ the death of Ravan that Brahma came and told him who he was, and _after_ that, he probably _was_ aware of his own divinity
      What Tulsidas and others assume is that Vishnu just took the guise of Rama, and everybody knew it. While his motivation might have been inspiring devotion, had it happened the way he described, Brahma's boon to Ravan would have been falsified

    • @DevaEkoNaaraayanah

    The ultimate destiny of Shri Rama is getting physically distant with her beloved Shri Sita maa...but the cords of their hearts are forever tied..The lesson i got from this episode is love is forever..it is not conditional...it is not physical...love is not that wheb you hold on to that person ...love is something that can't take any nonsense for the person you love....and that is bigger than everything and that makes RAma-sita a forever tale of love.

    17:00 Ram Charit Manas is just the Hindi/Avadi version of the Ramayan, and it was written during the Mughal era. Same goes for Krittivas, Kamban and others. In Ananda Sagar's Ramayan, he mixes them up a bit, but in Uttarkand, he pulls in bizarre sources, like the Jataka tales and Panchatantra for his sources. If one is talking _history_ , Valmiki is the only legitimate source, since he was a contemporary of Shri Rama. Tulsidas and everyone else are local adaptations of the story, but w/ a lot added and a lot deleted

    • @paharipant2
      @paharipant2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That's not how Hinduism works. Tulsidas was enlightened and so he could see in the past just like valmiki, ved vyasa. Tulsidas's ram is a ram of a previous yuga cycle and not the same as valmiki ramayan.

    • @vrishIF
      @vrishIF 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@paharipant2 Fine, but in that case, it's not history like Valmiki Ramayan is. Also, you probably meant previous manvantara, not yuga, since Rama avatars are always treta yugas

    Is Uttarkaand an interpolation or was it a part of the original text ??
    Opinion of Bibek Debroy who has translated the critical edition of Valmiki Ramayana about Uttarkaand:
    "Most scholars agree ‘Uttara Kanda’was written much later. If one reads the'Uttara kanda’, that belief is instantly endorsed.The ‘Uttara Kanda’ doesn’t belong. This isn’t only because of the content, which is invariably mentioned. It is also because of the texture of the text, the quality of the poetry.It is vastly inferior."
    He has said the same thing about the Uttarkaand in the introduction section of both ramayan and mahabharat translated by him.
    Opinion of Ralph T.H. Griffith who was the first person to completely translate the valmiki ramayan in English in 1874
    "The Ramayan ends epically complete, with the triumphant return of Rama and his rescued queen to Ayodhya and his consecration and coronation in the capital of his forefathers. Even if the story were not complete, the conclusion of the last canto of the sixth Book evidently the work of a later hand than Valmiki’s, which speaks of Rama’s glorious and happy reign and promises blessings to those who read and hear the Ramayan, would be sufficient to show that, when these verses were added, the poem was considered to be finished."

    • @nipunjoshi8238
      @nipunjoshi8238 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@atz1091 Bhai I have watched that video and I do admire his work as well but it doesn't mean that one has to agree with everything he has to say.
      He has incorrectly said that markandeya in mahabharat has quoted from Uttarakaand. In reality Raavan's origin story narrated by markandeya in Vana Parv of Mahabharat is completely different from what is written in Uttarakaand. You can read both the versions yourself.
      If one takes an atheistic approach like he has taken in his analysis then it can also be said that many of the Puranas he is referencing are actually much later works even as late as 5-6th century AD and that's the reason they have the events of uttara kaand in their abridged versions.
      And anyone who is doing a big task of adding a complete kanda in the original text will atleast put an effort to read the complete original text first and then make whatever changes are needed in the shlokas to make his work look authentic and consistent. So it's not that big a deal if there is a shloka that says that "the complete text contains 6 kaand and an uttar kand".
      Like Ami Ganatra said there are convincing arguments both in favour of and against uttara kaand being an interpolation. So the best approach is to read the text and decide for yourself.
      Even if you just read the Valmiki's version of sundar kaand from chapter 2 from the point where hanuman lands on the shores of Lanka after crossing the sea
      and then read the Uttara kaand you can clearly understand that Valmiki's knack of describing seasons, flaura and vegetation, paintings, buildings, and infact the very essence , richness and quality of literature is missing from Uttarakaand.
      One doesn't even have to be a philologist or a linguist to understand it. Anyone in a right frame of mind can observe the ridiculously different standards of writing. And this is the very reason most scholars agree that Uttarakaand is an interpolation apart from the fact that it has several inconsistencies as well from the other six kandas.
