The internet it largely trash, but the ability to find this sort of thing on TH-cam is the one thing I truly love. It's so good to be able to go back and see this stuff which would otherwise be lost to time.
I'd LMAO so hard as a kid watching this. I've looked everywhere for this ever since and have not been able to find it ANYWHERE! Thank you so much for posting! ❤❤❤❤❤
I saw that crosswalk bit from 12:51-13:11 only once on TV when i was young. I haven't forgotten it in over 35+ years, and it randomly pops into my head now and then. Finally got to see it again. Classic.
@@paulyguitary7651 Those were awesome! I remember a few "If you cut through a gas station to avoid a red light you are an EssoAsso"😂. The other one that stood out to me because I did it all the time when I was a kid lol "when at the movies, you hold up a Jujubee to the movie theater screen to determine it's color is called - Jujuspection". Lmao. 🤣😆
So glad this has been uploaded here, it was on from 1983-1990 and Stuart Pankin was probably the most recognizable of the cast. He's been in a lot of movies and TV shows!
The one guy on this show became an accomplished voice actor, being in countless cartoons. Rich Hall is another interesting person. His retrospective series on BBC is well done.
I have no idea why, but the part at 45:15 has stayed in my head since I saw this at 10 years old. When the guy looks at President Regan's food and wants to grab a piece of toast HAHAHAHAHA
As soon as I saw Anne fiddling with her swimsuit at 23:00, I knew this was the skit where she was trying to wave the old politicians over and they were too dumb to get it. It's been 40 years and seeing the first half-second of that footage brought it all back from the archive in my head. I was 12 when I first saw this. I have zero memory of anything else in this compilation but I had instant recall of her in the green bikini. That's the thing about this show, somebody burned the midnight oil finding any excuse to get Anne Bloom into a swimsuit, and I highly approve.
I remember an episode where a guy walked up to a gas station and asked if there was anything he could do to make $5 and the guys said well you can go around back and stack those tires and then they should miles upon miles of millions of tires the guy came back around and said nevermind 😂😂
One of the two reasons why the news isn't NEWS anymore-it's entertainment😢 (the other was when CBS launched "60 Minutes" in 1968; as what Jesse Ventura pointed out to Google in 2011).
I loved the Sniglets, hehe last one I remember was Esso Asso, its a person who cuts through a gas station to bypass a red light.... EDIT LOL watched the whole video and it actually had the Essoasso, excellent clip, thanks.
I used to watch this on HBO, back in the day, always looked forward to sniglets. I think the only one I actually used all these years was "musquirt" that watery stuff that comes out first when you use mustard. These are actually pretty educational since you get a historic snap shot of stuff that was going on at that time, one thing in this one, that was brought up a couple times, was the smog problem in LA, I hear people now complain about emissions regulations in California, yet it was those regulations that got rid of most if not all of that serious smog problem back in the 80s. also interesting is how, politics really hasn't changed much since then.
The skit at 6:24 is the one I remember the most from this show. Another one, also starring the same guy, is about the Sleep Fairy who helps you go to sleep. I didn't see it in this video. Anyway, we see a guy trying to go to sleep, so the fairy shows up and sprinkles some "sleep dust" over the man to help him go to sleep. Just as the fairy is about to go out the window, the man jostles around a bit, so the fairy goes back and sprinkles a bit more. The man seems to be going to sleep, so the fairy starts for the window again. Again, the man moves around, indicating that he's not falling asleep. This time, the fairy is irritated and goes back to the man. Cut to the next morning and the police are there investigating the death of the man who now has a GIANT pile of "sleep dust" on his head which apparently suffocated him! I laughed so hard as a kid.
@louguzzo4977: I feel sorry for Genz and am glad I'll be dead long before this shit gets much more out of hand. Just glad I was able to enjoy the 70s 80s & 90s while I did.
That's funny because some of the writers from this show went on to write, or had written for SNL like Greg Daniels, Ian Maxtone-Graham, George Meyer, Tom Schiller, and Conan O'Brien.
No joke. When I watched this in high school, I used to joke that you could take a piss, grab yourself a drink and a snack from the kitchen, and sit down with time to spare before the actual show started.

3:01 so...they actually tied a baby to the front bumper of a car and drove it thru traffic? Wow. (The baby is waving, so unless it was a robot baby in the 80s, then 😮😮😮!!!)
Amazingly, I could relate to this show as a small kid who found the news frightening and politics boring. The show brought levity to both and wasn't raunchy, biased or pretentious but hilariously goofy. It was just FUN, which is sadly no longer allowed.
This is crazy for some reason it popped in my head after not seeing it more than 30 years ago this is great I missed this stuff when people knew how to take a joke not all these Pansy woke Community c***
this was a good show. I remember that the earlier years I think were sort of 'R' rated, would have a touch of nudity, then I think it switched to more PG...
This video is 2 years old and ends with an ad for a Richard Lewis stand up special. RIP Richard, you brought a lot of humor into this messed up world
RIP to you when you die.
Was his lasting contribution to Murican English the thing where you extend the last syllable of your main point?
RIP

So good! I had completely forgotten about this program
My goodness, I watched this and realized I’ve been quoting these skits for 40 years
Thank you Rich Hall for your outstanding contributions to the English language
And your likeness to Moe from Simpsons
He continues to surprise me. I saw him first on Mock the Week and looked into him further. I was NOT disappointed.

I Allways use 2 watch this & the hitch hicker all the times, on H.B.O.,MIss all of them.😊😅😂❤
THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVED THIS SHOW!!! 😊😍😍😍😍
Same here I'm so glad someone posted this!! So many satire news shows own their creation to NNTN!!

I believe “Inside the NFL “ followed this show.

Sniglet: A sniglet (/ˈsnɪɡlɪt/) is an often humorous word made up to describe something for which no dictionary word exists.
Thank you, Rich Hall
Need to have a youtube channel starting it back up
This was one of my absolute favorite things about HBO or just cable in general.
Brilliant. I was laughing out loud!!!!

I'm with you! I still say "I am so huungry...." in Kissingers' voice!
OMG! My whole family does the Kissenger I'm so hungry!!! Flippin hilarious 😂😂😂
I will...quick!...grab a bite of toast!
OMFG I forgot about this show 😂😂😂😂 I watched this all the time
I love the Crosstalk sketch, where they argue about everything, even the ads at the end. And the guest is just sitting there ignored.
So, so, so good!
I remember watching NnTN back when I was a kid. Even if I didn't get all the jokes, I found it funny. Now, decades later, I it's even funnier!
What a show.
Danny Breen was my favorite guy on that show.
The Anne Bloom green bikini has been burned in my mind for decades. And that is a great thing.

One of the greatest reasons to have HBO back in the early 80s.
“Does all the dishes and still has time for her favorite hobby, drilling for cobalt.”
“You with the handkerchief, YOU’RE OUT!”

Yep, I forgot about this one but I did watch it a few times back in the day.
Actually better than the “real news.”
Memories
I remember the old Toon Town cartoon show on KCAL channel 9 in Socal hosted by Danny Breen
Today people would be offended with this program, and HBO probably would pull the plug. As a kid I used to watch this show all the time.
Ah, good old childhood 😅
