I'm suprised you're not in Nebraska and duking it out to be the last Josh on earth.
The night stalker visited my grandparents house, he came hungry and asked for food so my grandparents served him a meal. Luckily nothing bad happened to them. I just saw the documentary of him on Netflix, and my grandparents still remember him till this very day. Crazy guy.
That's really crazy, glad your grandparents were okay.

Yeah he visited my grumpys house too, and asked to use the loo and then my aunts to ask for a dollar. Both left unharmed 🤪🙄

I stayed in this hotel in 2008. I didn't know anything about the history until years later when Elisa went missing. It was the only place in LA you could stay for $40 a night. Even with no knowledge of the history, the hotel was definitely creepy. I also experienced my first earthquake on the 11th floor of the Cecil, too. I'm glad I was able to experience such a strange piece of Los Angeles history.
@@md12962 Maybe not, but it was the only hotel I could find on short notice with my limited knowledge of Los Angeles. I'm sure I could have found something better had I been able to stay in a different part of LA, and had more than 3 days of planning.

For those who do not know: Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk’s ingenious creation, American Horror Story: season 5, was inspired by the Cecil Hotel. The series was aptly, yet simply named Hotel. If you had not seen this season I recommend you do.

I'm re-watching that season right one it's one of my favourite from the show I especially love Lady Gaga and Evan Peters in it.
Not gonna lie, the fact that people were showering, brushing their teeth and drinking the water coming from where Elisa's body was floating/decaying really just always gives me the creeps. I just can't shake it. Also, my theory is she was either being followed or she had serious mental health issues and felt like she was and was having a psychotic break. I'm leaning more towards possible undiagnosed mental issues because no one was ever seen around her at all. She just appeared to be hiding, paranoid and talking to someone but we never see anyone else ever around her. I think she went to the roof, opened the water tank for whatever reason (but I really don't feel like it wasn't to kill herself because morbidly speaking, there were way easier options in that sketchy building, including the height of it - if she wanted to do that) and I really think she fell in and just couldn't get back out. Either way, very sad. Also, someone visited the Cecil after just to see how one would take the same steps she did and that roof latch that Corbin said was locked, was actually unlocked when the person exploring just randomly happened to find it so that just shows that the night she died, they might not have locked it. Obviously they aren't going to admit negligence on their part as a hotel of leaving it open, but it is a possibility.

No that is what made this case so weird. Those lids would have been way too heavy for her to open them by herself. That’s why they still can’t figure it out.
She had a diagnosis also her family confirmed that during the episodes she would feel like she was followed and tried to hide. Now the case is closed as she tried to hide in the water tank from hellucinations.

She'd been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, She'd also run out of her meds so her mental health was bound to deteriorate.

Y’all are so kind to each other when you talk it’s so refreshing
I stayed in this hotel in 2016 and it was a wild experience. Being there for a week because it was so cheap, I always felt this unsteady atmosphere. I literally had no idea and wasn’t aware of the history.
Cheaply run hotels seem to always have this problem because management doesn't handle their places properly. If anyone dies on the beds the mattresses don't get changed.
I think the hotel has a creepy atmosphere that disturbs people, particularly those like Elisa Lam who had existing mental health problems. The fact that the lobby is so extravagant just adds to the sense of unreality.

Exploring abandoned buildings alone really takes a toll in you physiologically because you hear and see things you cant explain and so it eventually just wears down your sanity

Yeah! You're right about that fire escape. I've worked many years in construction and regularly worked on scaffolding, I wouldn't even climb that second ladder. It’s not set on an angle, a straight ladder is harder to climb. And no safety barrier anywhere around it. No way.

I remember when I was little I went to some haunted hotels and stuff was scary in them!
1. There were creepy noises
2. Heard glass breaking but nobody was there
3. The elevators have weird flickering
4. I hear voices
5. People aren’t outside there room a lot and most people aren’t in the hotels. So we felt like we were alone
I love how you actually took your time and showed us everything. Other people just run through the hotel

It's certainly got that Haunted Mansion/Overlook Hotel vibe. The entrance and lobby are gorgeous, but the rooms look like they're belong to a cheap roadside motel. How did Lisa get up to the roof? Taking one look at that ladder, I would just go back to my room, even if I was mentally disturbed.
i think she was having a psychotic episode so you might not feel fear from climbing etc etc

Elisa's story makes me so sad. She came to california to get away from stress at home and had been doing really well and having fun. Calling her parents every day etc. She had just been to the san diego zoo and told her mom how much fun she was having. Then of course she entered the Cecil and everything went wrong. I feel like if she stayed somewhere else she'd still be alive. She was just trying to vacation and escape daily life, like any of us would!
She was off her meds so the psychotic breakdown was inevitable

This hotel was also the inspiration for American Horror Story: Hotel. There is a Ramirez reference and there was even a reference to the the bad tasting and smelling water due to a corpse rotting in a bath tub. The lobby looks insanely similar to me as well. AWESOME VIDEO BY THE WAY!!!
Feel so bad for that girl. Her whole life and death has been reduced to an Internet legend and speculation when she most likely just had depression and committed suicide...

I've watched the 2 hour episode of Ghost Adventures where they went to the Cecil hotel.
They explored many different rooms including the room where the Night stalker lived in. Zak Bagans stayed in that room within 15 minutes He felt like Richard Ramirez was watching him and making him sick.
Either way Kudos to the Ghost Adventures team and Josh for this amazing content.

I’ve had an interest in the Cecil hotel for almost ten years now and the documentary did not “clean up the past”, I find it exposed it more than anything. I personally want to stay there, but many would avoid staying here for obvious reasons.
It’s presently closed for renovations, not because of bad business or COVID-19.
This feels like a Disney cross over on Disney Channel and I love it! I love when Josh collabs with TFIL! You guys are all my favorite people!

Thank you for this video it was really cool to see you had off limit access. I had never seen inside Elisa's rooms before, nor had I seen anyone go through the fire escape. It puts to rest any doubts about the ease of accessing the roof in that way. I can almost feel the crazy energy just watching the hotel on video... Whenever I revisit this case I feel so on edge for the rest of the day and it really puts my mood off balance. No other cold case does that to me.
