I’m excited by Potters appointment, Loppy was the wrong man for the job & it was apparent during pre season.

Been waiting to see a video of Potter and West Ham for the last few days. I love the set up. AWB as a right sided CB makes a lot of sense. Bowen had to do a lof tracking back when under David Moyes as Coufal was losing his pace, so that shouldn't be too big an ask for him. I believe we are looking to bring in a more athletic midfielder that would take that space occupied by Alvarez. Very excited to see how this works out. Great vid!
Thanks for making this video Zekko, I really hope we look like what you’re predicting here. Hopefully we take on well with Graham Potter and his tactics, this squad has potential to battle for Europe we just need to see it out on the pitch
You're very welcome mate! It will take time to implement a proper style and system but in time I think it could be really exciting for West Ham fans! Thanks for watching and supporting!❤️
I liked your Analysis of how Potter could potentially set up... looks good on paper or should I say looks good on youtube video! Lopetegui was the wrong Manager and with this set up I can see us having a lot more success 2nd half of season.
Really enjoying this video. Hope Potter works out so much. Would be so exciting. Willing to give him the next 6-8 months as long as we stay up. I understand this takes time.
Glad you enjoyed. You're absolutely spot on as well, this will take time but hopefully in the end it will provide exciting, attacking football with good balance. Thanks for watching mate!
Thank you for this video. I'd love for Potter to set up like this, playing Kudus more centrally is key here. I agree that AWB is best kept in the back three, everyone has been saying his movement forward is brilliant but he had to do that because of a nonexistent midfield throughout the whole season. With him being upfront, we were always bare in other positions. I think Potter will want a more ball-savvy goal keeper because that's usually what's integral for his back three. What I like most about his style is that he actually develops players, looks at their strengths and builds a system accordingly instead of trying to make his rigid system fit and force players out of position.
@ZekkoFootball I agree. I've seen his podcasts and pressers and must admit, I'm the most excited to watch West Ham in months, maybe even years. Even with the injury problems right now, it feels like he knows how to handle it and doesn't blame any losses on missing players. The introduction of youth players and his view towards the Academy is essential. Really excited what he has in store for the game tonight and how he will set up.
Makes a lot of sense, I think we need to improve those defensive midfielders, Solar and maybe Alvarez may be okay but I can't see Soucek flourishing there
Later down the line I think Soucek might be transitioned out of the side but this formation and setup could be something that gets West Ham fans seeing some exciting, attacking football again. Thanks for watching!
This is good and I'm excited for the change overall! I think it's going to be tough for Summerville, though. He's got a lot to learn defensively, still, and this will expose the weakest part of his game. Emmerson's a reasonable defender but not nearly as good going forward and cutting in. I'm not worried about Bowen in that respect but I think there's a case for swapping Bowen and Kudus, as Kudus is incredible at carrying the ball and Bowen is still good running from deep as a 10. Though, as you said, they would rotate anyway. We need a new keeper, though. Areola's distribution is a big problem. Fabianski's a bit better, but he's not amazing and he's coming to the end of his career.
Your concerns are absolutely valid, but this is where Potter comes in, he is a coach that improves players and helps them learn how to improve and adapt their games, it will take time but he will hopefully transform this side into something that can be exciting and progressive. The transfer window will be key as well. Thanks for watching!
I can see that and I understand why. I can definitely see him getting game time, but in the way that I think Potter will want to play going forwards, he might look for something a little different. Thanks for watching mate!
I think he's definitely a good appointment in terms of him as a tactician and footballing brain, my concerns would be is he a strong enough personality to deal with what are proving to be a difficult set of players beneath him and difficult management above him, not too mention the increasingly impatient fans. It'll be no easy task for him.
It's definitely going to be difficult and will undoubtedly take time, but he has had experience (namely at Chelsea) of difficult circumstances and that will no doubt help him here. I think he could surprise a few. Thanks for watching mate!
Kilman at LCB is a concern under pressure, but the shape and personnel in front of that is really exciting to me! We definitely need Soler in that position rather than Soucek.
Perhaps, you could be right, but with enough cover and movement should be enough to keep him there. I think Soler could do a really good job as well, time will tell. Thanks for watching mate!
Great video bruv, really liked the analysis and conclusions you came to..! Think the team you selected for the formation Potter likes to play was interesting... I think it'd take time to adapt, esp for Bowen and Summerville, the latter is really quite small and slight so I wonder how well he would do as a wing back defensively but understand it's more wing(er) than back., whereas Bowen does an admirable defensive job, usually anyhow but don't want his creativity too curtailed... I like Alvarez and Soler in defensive midfield, think there is a place for Soucek there as and when too but not so much in this team I think, although people said that work Loppy and he turned out to be important to J Lo... I like the attack, with our wing backs too, it could be lethal, it WOULD be lethal and the best part of our team, that said I think a striker is a serious priority, we have no cover other than Ings for the Incredible Füllk and both are over 30..! We also need a box to box midfielder, someone that can slot into say Alvarez or Soler's position, someone with pace... Same for the striker and anyone we sign in any position, pace is essential, we are far too slow as a team and it's painfully obvious often and leaves is vulnerable, exposed and we suffer bcos of it... As well as pace we need youth, well younger signings, they don't need to be under 21 but the right side of 26/27, we are too old as a squad and need to lower our average age... A centre back would also be needed, esp if we play 3 CBs, we only have 3 senior CBs, if you use AWB as suggested you would then have 4 but that's not enough when we need 3 in the pitch to start with..! Although I'm happy for him to dip into the under 21s for some back up in positions, in fact I hope he does... I agree, AWB could play CB, in fact I think he could play either side of that defence as CB and also prob both sides as wing back, we've seen him on both sides of the defense this season and pushing a lot higher than we thought he would play - at first it was a bit iffy, the suspect crossing ability is always brought up but I think he's come far in that regard, his passing is calm under pressure and his crossing improving hence he's scored twice for us already and I'm sure he's an assist or 2 as well... In fact, he's our best RB and our best LB too already..! Looking forward to seeing what is going to happen under Potter, I'm a lot more happy about it than most, I think he'll do well with us as long him and his job isn't interfered with too much from above and I'm not on about Steidten... I hope all the fans get behind him, I'm sure they will regardless of their prior opinions they will support Graham Potter and I hope we show him our appreciation and excitement when he first takes charge of a game, I'm going to LS with my kids for the Fulham game, am really excited now 😁 ⚒️

Emerson for Summerville, Mavro at RCB and AWB at RWB with Bowen up top. Awb can drop into RCB with Coufal at RWB in a pinch and Fullkrug for Bowen. I think Soucek will play over Soler, but I don’t think either really fit well. Guido and Ings should be off.
Some really interesting choices, I wonder how the side will go forward with a more defensive minded selection but it's definitely something that could be looked into. Interested to see what he does. Thanks for watching mate!
Thank you for doing this one 😄👍🏾! As a West Ham fan, I’m very curious to see what Potter does. I presume he’ll be able to use the players more effectively in their proper positions compared to the previous regimes.
You're very welcome👍 Potter will take time, but I think his coaching style will bring an exciting brand of football that will be very exciting for fans. Patience will be needed though. Thanks for watching and supporting as ever!❤️
Happy about Potter coming in, but not sure he'll set up quite like this at West Ham. Areola's distribution, Summerville's wide defending, Soucek/Alvarez's ability to cover ground and progress the ball, Soler's defensive duelling, Fulkrug's ability to bring the ball down from the air and hold it up, are all suspect. And Bowen's efficiency as a finisher not utilised well at wing-back either.
All valid concerns, but I think the same faults might have been labelled at the Brighton side I mentioned if you looked at them individually. Collectively West Ham could become something different, something more and I think this formation and setup could provide that. Thanks for watching!
Would have liked to hear more about how we will deal with Bowen being out for another couple of months…. I’m not so sure that either of our current first goalkeepers are going to suit the way Potter typically would want, his setup requires a footballing keeper, not just to sit in that ‘back four’ but also to play out and with good long pass ability… it could be that they could adjust but I think it would cost us more goals conceded in doing so…. But if we can create more chances in the box we do have the ability to outscore more but I really don’t see that setup with the expectation of that type of keeper style starting to work before the end of the season if at all… I think it will be easier for potter to adjust rather than the keeper…. The real key for me is putting players in the optimal position which so far Loppy failed to do…. We really didn’t use the best of our players strengths or indeed the potential team strengths….. ⚒. I’m looking forward to moving on now and giving Potter the time to get the best out of our players and squad and hopefully our academy players….! COYI ⚒
Bowen is a loss and in the short term that role could be filled by others, a new GK will likely be needed in the summer. As for Potter, it will take time to implement this system, time to find the right balance of players and find a way of playing. In time I am sure that an attacking, exciting brand of football can be brought to West ham. Thanks for watching!
Work ethic is a key part of football nowadays, it will take time but I am sure that will get instilled in this group. Positive signs ahead with Potter I think. Thanks for watching mate!
Thank you! I agree with your energy concerns, a current problem in the West Ham side, signings are going to need to help with this issue and the summer window will be needed to facilitate this. But I think there's a lot to be positive about from a West Ham point of view. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate this but I believe he’ll stick to his 4231 or 433 he was using at Chelsea, but adapt to the squad we have and bringing in a couple signings in jan but mostly rebuild in the summer
Also in the defensive side of this I can’t see soler being in midfield due to his defensive displays, I think we could see him replace paqueta and soucek in the 2nd pivot next to Alvarez
I think that's a really good shout, especially considering what he has most recently used. It will take time for him to formulate his side. Thanks for watching!
He has been very good for West Ham but I think I would still say that his best asset is his 1v1 defending. Positioning him in the back 3 could really be an asset, albeit while limiting his attacking play. Thanks for watching!
I’m a lot more optimistic about Potter now than I was a few days ago because of the way we played agaisnt Villa in such a short amount of time and how he comes across in interviews. I don’t think we can judge him from his time at Chelsea because they had far too many players and their club just changed ownership etc, it was a mess. Poch also failed there. I think this was a really good video in the main but there’s a few points I disagree with: Areola is very poor with the ball at his feet. I think Fabianski is still the better keeper even at 39. I agree that Bowen & Summerville are not defensive minded players but their defensive work rate is brilliant. I have no issue with them at all in them positions. Füllkrug is injured now anyway but he was not up to the standard or pace of the premier league in my opinion. I think next season if we can keep hold of Kudus and Paqueta and bring in a solid striker and a mobile defensive midfielder and perhaps get Aguerd back we could be a really good side. I would love to see Liam Delap in a West Ham shirt.
I think you have every right to be optimistic, as you say, there are encouraging signs. You make a good point on Areola and the striking role and I am sure that's something they will address in the summer. Delap is a really good option I think. Thank you for your kind words and feedback, really appreciated. Glad West Ham fans have hope again, always needed. Thanks for watching mate!
Fabianski (Herrick in a year - it's a risk... But he's future England GK according to coaching staff) AWB Todibo Kilman Potts Chukwuemeka Bowen Kudus Orford Summerville Ferguson. Winner
I really like this side, bold, ambitious and something that could really be exciting, might be a bit bold in midfield but other than that its good. Nice one! Thanks for watching!
So while he has had some really good moments, he isn't an attacking right back and is predominantly a defensive minded player, who excels at defending 1v1's. That's more what I meant to say. Thanks for watching!
Definitely an issue and as you said, something like that will probably happen until he comes back. Still a lot to be positive about with this though. Thanks for watching!
Good analysis and review of what he has played before. I will say, Alvarez and Paqueta have been awful all season. Bowen's performances through the middle are very under par, Soler has actually played better as a AM this season in comparison to being poor as a DM, and Areola is a liability with the ball at his feet. Apart from that 😂, I like the style the he wants to implement. Hopefully he can get the best out of our underperforming played 🤞🏼 (I've been saying Mavromistakos should move to DM)
Thank you mate! It's going to take time to properly implement players and roles but in time I think it could be really exciting for West Ham. Some changes need to be made as you mentioned, but the future is bright. Thanks for watching!
That's an interesting option, but I feel like it would limit his skillset somewhat, I think centrally might be where he's best suited but I am sure Potter has a plan. Thanks for watching mate!
We need to invest in a top class keeper to take over from Fab, Areola is a weak link in the team, doesn’t even look bothered at times and seems to pull his arms back when diving.
Indeed, the box formation is something that is utilized by a number of coaches now and those two are definitely some of them. Will be really interesting to see if Potter takes this route with West Ham. Thanks for watching mate!
As a West ham season ticket holder who goes home and away - will be at villa so interesting to see if potters there... We do not have a goalkeeper capable of playing like a centre back - especially areola, that's stuff of nightmares... AWB at cb - blokes obviously unreal at the back but he's been one of our best players going forward... He's much more suited for the job than J-Lo but I really can't see him using this system with our players at all, never going to get the best out of the players we have
Yeah but he’s known for actually incorporating youth so maybe players like Kaelan Casey, Orford, Josh Ajala, Kamarai Swyer & maybe even Guilherme that Brazilian the club paid a lot of money for and barely had any game time in either youth or first team could actually get a chance in the team especially if some players still don’t want to play for the badge.
It will definitely take time and in the beginning I can see him opting for something more pragmatic, but in time I think he could look for something like this. Thanks for watching!
@@TheNamesBond86 good going forward but I’d prefer him to sit back because look at the state of our defence, how many times do we get caught out while he’s practically right or left wing
@ 😂😂😂 Areola is dog shit .. what are you talking about? Can’t command a box when crosses come in, makes far too many mistakes, shot stopping has declined woefully & his distribution isn’t great either. He’s terrible!
Perhaps not, but next to someone else to share the work load it might be a little easier on him. Either that or a replacement will be needed. Time will tell this season I suppose. Thanks for watching mate!
Tactics can change, coaches can explore different options, but I completely agree with you that a goalkeeper and striker are probably needed. Thanks for watching!
I'm not so sure, the ambition from this signing could well be enough to keep them and build something together. Will be really interesting to see what happens. Thanks for watching!
This formation and lineup would be such a dream if it works. IF. There is a precedent based on Brighton's success under Potter. This team is EXCITING, and more importantly balanced. We have quality that previous managers have been too gunshy to utilise. I just pray it works 🥲
I think if used, this could really work, as you say there's enough attacking intent and balance. It will take time to implement but I am really interested to see if Potter can bring that kind of attacking football to West Ham. Hopefully so. Thanks for watching mate!

Getting them to work as hard as Bournmouth,Fulham and Forest would be a start
Work ethic is a key part of football nowadays, it will take time but I am sure that will get instilled in this group. Positive signs ahead with Potter I think.
Thanks for watching mate!
Good review of Brighton however the severe lack of pace / legs in the West Ham midfield is omitted from this.
I can see a couple of changes being made to the line up, like you said. It will be interesting to see what he goes with.
They should buy Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to play that Soler position, great player that'll get the ball moving.
Really good shout, like this one. Should definitely try if they can.
Thanks for watching!
Interesting stuff
Could be very exciting for West Ham fans in the future!
Thanks for watching mate!
Wan-Bissaka is brilliant going forward just doesnt track back
He has been very good for West Ham but I think I would still say that his best asset is his 1v1 defending. Positioning him in the back 3 could really be an asset, albeit while limiting his attacking play.
Thanks for watching!
Cool Vid,, Good Analysis..
Thank you so much my friend!
I think this was a really good video in the main but there’s a few points I disagree with:
Areola is very poor with the ball at his feet.
But he's future England GK according to coaching staff)
AWB Todibo Kilman
Potts Chukwuemeka
Bowen Kudus Orford Summerville
Ferguson.
Winner
Chukwuemeka isn’t a DM
potts and orford, behave man
playing Chukweumeka out of position in the most important part of the pitch alongside a youth player with no Prem experience?
Potts and Chukauemeka as a midfield 😂😂😂😂
I really like this side, bold, ambitious and something that could really be exciting, might be a bit bold in midfield but other than that its good. Nice one!
Thanks for watching!
What app for tactical board and some drowning stuff can u tell as?
I use a variety of different software, if you search tactical board you should be able to find the tools.
Thanks for watching!
great vid
Thank you so much mate! Means a lot!❤️
AWB isn't too comfortable going forward? Have you watched him at West Ham lad?
So while he has had some really good moments, he isn't an attacking right back and is predominantly a defensive minded player, who excels at defending 1v1's. That's more what I meant to say.
Thanks for watching!
The problem is bowen injury. kudus comes over on the right eho olays alongside paqueta
Definitely an issue and as you said, something like that will probably happen until he comes back. Still a lot to be positive about with this though.
Thanks for watching!
Wing backs not to
Sure about , the system tho looks brilliant but would just keep Summerville and Bowen as wingers
Changes will always be made but the general system is something that could work for West Ham in time with Potter.
Thanks for watching!
I wouldnt be surprised seeing Soucek play again😅😅
Could still happen, changes will take time and he will want to test him in any system he uses.
Thanks for watching!
think soucek might take the alvarezz place if alveraz doesnt get on form soon
Could well do, that is a shout and I would expect for Potter to at least trial him in that role to see how he fits.
Hopefully he can get the best out of our underperforming played 🤞🏼
(I've been saying Mavromistakos should move to DM)
Thank you mate! It's going to take time to properly implement players and roles but in time I think it could be really exciting for West Ham. Some changes need to be made as you mentioned, but the future is bright.
Thanks for watching!
Hmmm it will be interesting to see how Wan-Bissaka fit in this.
I think he could fit really well, top 1v1 defender and good mobility. Will play an important key role I reckon.
Thanks for watching mate!
Itll be kudus at rwb if he plays how he did at chelsea
That's an interesting option, but I feel like it would limit his skillset somewhat, I think centrally might be where he's best suited but I am sure Potter has a plan.
Thanks for watching mate!
At present Fabs is the best keeper we have.
I think an upgrade on the keeper situation is something that probably needs to be looked at in the summer.
Thanks for watching mate!
We need to invest in a top class keeper to take over from Fab, Areola is a weak link in the team, doesn’t even look bothered at times and seems to pull his arms back when diving.
An upgrade would definitely be preferable I think, something to look at in the summer.
Thanks for watching mate!
Would u say its more attacking football?
Definitely, attacking progressive football.
Thanks for watching!
Mate if you havent watched one west ham game this season just say that
Just giving my take on what Potter could do with this side, think it could be quite exciting for Hammers.
Thanks for watching mate!
Been with us 24 hours.
Psychoanalizing the man already. Veey silly
Just taking a look at potential tactics and setups. Will be interesting to see what he does.
Thanks for watching mate!
We know Potters tactics
@@ryangloria2068 did you like his tactics?
Absolutely, he did brilliant for you.
Thanks for watching!
Very similar to maresca and guardiola
Areola isn’t a ‘good goalkeeper’ at all & his distribution is poor also. Wan Bissaka has been good going forward, shows how little you’ve watched us.
Areola is a good keeper, he (alongside many others this season) have just been really below par
@@TheNamesBond86 good going forward but I’d prefer him to sit back because look at the state of our defence, how many times do we get caught out while he’s practically right or left wing
@ couldn’t agree more mate, was just making a point to the clown who made this video thinking he knows us inside out when it’s clear he knows nothing.
@ 😂😂😂 Areola is dog shit .. what are you talking about? Can’t command a box when crosses come in, makes far too many mistakes, shot stopping has declined woefully & his distribution isn’t great either. He’s terrible!
Awb one of our top 4 players going forward
You must blaze a lot
Think it could be a really exciting time for West Ham fans.
Thanks for watching mate!
Alvarez doest have the legs for the Premier League.....
Perhaps not, but next to someone else to share the work load it might be a little easier on him. Either that or a replacement will be needed. Time will tell this season I suppose.
Thanks for watching mate!
Areola is possibly the worst keeper in the league with the ball at his feet, need a new keeper in jan
An upgrade would be ideal, might have to wait for the summer though. Still so many positives for West Ham with this appointment.
Thanks for watching!
Sorry but this tactics was in Brighton.....4-2-3-1 is in West Ham....And Hammers Need a better GK And a nice Striker
Tactics can change, coaches can explore different options, but I completely agree with you that a goalkeeper and striker are probably needed.
Thanks for watching!
@ZekkoFootball yeah u right!! keep going the good work
Players in their natural positions.? Stop it, we don’t do that at West Ham.
😂Think it could be an exciting time for West Ham going forwards.
Thanks for watching mate!
Areola is not a good goalkeeper and is not good with the ball at his feet.
Might need an upgrade in the summer, I reckon.
Thanks for watching!
Areola a "good goalkeeper"
He might need upgrading in the future, granted but for now I think he will be the one that could be chosen.
Thanks for watching mate!
Lets just hope Soucek stays on the bench.
In time I think that is something that could well happen.
Thanks for watching!
Loll West Ham gonna lose Kudus and Bowen in no time.
I'm not so sure, the ambition from this signing could well be enough to keep them and build something together. Will be really interesting to see what happens.
Thanks for watching!
If u realy think he will drop soucek u clearly dont know a damn sht about West Ham squad
Soucek's strength clearly don't suit this system, if this is how he decides to play
@metriclondon 🤦♀️
@@martinkenny7091 Is Soucek known for his ability to receive the ball under pressure, turn and pass well?
I'm just not entirely sure that Soucek's skillset fits with the way that Potter would want to play, could be wrong though.
