Another fantastic review, as we can expect from you. This time I was not waiting for your review to purchase the aircraft, have already quite some hours in it. What i specially like is the challenge to fly it….it really is giving you a handful, also the heavy feeling into the flare and the behavior of the nose on touchdown of the nosewheel is giving us a really heavy feel of aircraft behavior. I was surprised to see You activate the Yaw damper quite late after take-off, and deactivate quite early in the approach. As you mentioned the aircraft feels “unbalanced” during flight, using the yaw Damper is helping us to get the unbalanced feeling away a bit. Still on final and specially with cross wind it is a handful to fly without the help of the Yaw Damper, so imho your approach until touchdown was very well done. Selecting less flaps when experiencing crosswinds helps a lot too, but then again the nose up attitude can make it a bit uncomfortable too. On HDG select mode the autopilot is wiggling the aircraft left and right all the time, in NAV Mode this is much better. I might have missed an update here (didn’t fly it a lot the last few weeks because of the shortcomings) but in my experience I have never flown any aircraft in RL that flies so unbalanced (even not in a twin with one engine out..😂) but I have to say I never flown any PC12 in RL. My Son flew the PC7 quite a lot during his militairy flight training and he told me these single engines need a lot of lateral trimming during every change of the Power setting. This is the only MSFS aircraft in wich I use the lateral trim while flying….but unless what my Son told me, I still have the feeling that this SWS PC12 is too unbalanced (that’s why I stop flying it,) I will check for an update and try again….maybe it is improved, but the updates that I had installed didn’t do the job well enough. Really like your honest opinion, even with an aircraft that was handed out to you by the developer. Thanks for that ….it is making your channel and reviews thrustworthy !
Hello again Ben, Thank you very much as always, I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I too, very much like the feeling of “weight” that the aircraft has but, yes, the lack of stability in yaw, certainly still seems to need some work. I very much agree with what you say; it’s nice to have an aircraft that actually requires rudder trim however, things feel way over-the-top ay the moment. The only reason I was a bit late / early with the yaw damper, is that when I’m recording, it’s sometimes easier to hold these sorts of items, or get them done early (depending on the situation). The yaw damper certainly helps but, the PC-12 still feels “odd” in its yaw behaviour. I’m glad that you felt the review was honest. That’s always what I strive for - there wouldn’t be much point to my videos otherwise ; ) I’m hoping we’ll get another PC-12 update soon. In the meantime, happy flying and all the best!
@@IntotheBlueSimulations no no, I didn't express myself correctly... HB-FVA the 1:1 vewrsion of the one you were flying in the video was sitting outside of my office at that time - LSZR. ;)
The 727, is one that I am very much looking forward to also! Given the aircraft’s relative complexity (vs the FSR500, or a PC-12), I suspect we might have to wait a little while for it though : ) Cheers, all the best!
While the airplane does not have failure of systems, and wear and tear is not modelled as in the Black Square airplanes, it's also almost half the price. That certainly has to be considered. I have three of Simworks airplanes. The Kodiak, and the two RV's. I really enjoy them. I want this. The only thing that worries me about buying it, is that I won't want to fly my TBM 930 anymore!
going volcano hunting? glad I waited. Looks dreamy, except for the beetle crawling around you left window area. Oh, I took the liberty of playing Conan The Barbarian - Anvil of Crom over that picturesque interval in the middle of your video. Made the plane look wicked!
Haha, something like that, Mr S (I did actually record a video, heading around a Volcano in the SWS Kodiak but, that one never made the light of day in the end). There’s definitely still some more work to be done on the PC-12 so, waiting is probably prudent. As for the music, that was very much the sort of vibe I wanted to go for haha but alas, I couldn’t find anything similar that was royalty free. Cheers, sir! : )

Great video! I really need to get up to BIIS, beautiful! I've been wanting to get this but the comments about flight characteristics on takeoff and landing have been putting me off, it seems like it was manageable for you so I think I might give it a shot.
Hi Dave, Thanks very much, I’m glad you enjoyed the videos (BIIS, is definitely well worth a visit!). I find the PC-12 to be “manageable” during takeoff / landing, yes however, the aircraft definitely still needs some work on the flight model (particularly regarding its behaviour in yaw / its landing behaviour). I expect that SWS will get things ironed out in due course (though updates have been somewhat slow thus far). Cheers and all the best! : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulationsI did end up buying it last week and would agree with your assessment. I've had some great takeoffs and landings, and a few landings that made me go "what just happened there!?" Looking forward to their next patch.
Hi Ronin, Yes, I was definitely experiencing similar issues myself. Whilst it’s great that engine power settings / speed will affect yaw, the flight model seemingly still needs quite a bit of work in this regard. It’s very hard to fly the aircraft naturally and instead, it always feels like you’re playing catch-up. I know that the dev saw my video so, hopefully they will take some of the feedback onboard. Cheers, all the best!
Hi Daniel, It depends what you’re after really. There’s no doubt, the SWS version is a more realistic representation of the PC-12 however, the aircraft is not without its faults. Currently, the Carenado version is prettier and offers a somewhat more “logical” flight model but, other than that, the SWS PC-12 is pretty much superior in every way. The SWS PC-12 currently exhibits some very strange behaviours in yaw and unfortunately, SWS has been pretty slow to address the issue. If you want realism, I would recommend the SWS PC-12 (though perhaps wait for the next update). If you want something that looks good and is a bit easier to fly, I would recommend the Carenado version. Also, some unsolicited advice haha - perhaps consider the Black Square TBM (if it’s an option) as that addon is absolutely excellent. I hope that helps a little. All the best : )
Where do the random ambient radio transmissions come from during the videos? Are they just edited in? It would be amazing if there was someway to add something like that to MSFS itself it gets quiet in the cockpit sometimes haha
Hi Logan, The ATC is indeed real-world recordings, which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : ) I hope that helps. Cheers and all the best!
Hi Mark, Thanks very much, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I record my flights using this 3rd party recording tool (flightsim.to/file/8163/flight-recorder); it’s not perfect but, it generally works well for things like landing views etc. I hope that helps. All the best : )

Hey Sir. I know this is suppose to be serious. But I heard James Gregory talk about the fuel on a particular aircraft that he was riding on. The pilot came around and asked everybody's weight. James asked. Why do you need to know my weight?? The pilot said, so we know how much fuel to put in the airplane. James said FILL IT UP ALL THE WAY...LOL I saw that you only had a half a take of fuel in the aircraft. I do have a question though. I noticed that the aircraft had 5 props on it. If it had 4 props would that make a huge difference, if so on what?? Great flight Sir take care
Haha. It’s absolutely fine James, I certainly don’t take myself / my videos too seriously! As the saying goes; “they are fuel tanks, not air tanks” however, all that fuel is only of any use, if you can get it off the runway (ie, you aren’t overweight)! : P There are a multitude of reasons, as to why a particular number of prop blades might be chosen. Thrust, efficiency, noise, cost etc, all come into play. Generally speaking, I believe more blades = more thrust, less efficiency, lower noise / vibration and increased costs (and vice versa). I’m really glad you enjoyed the flight! Cheers and all the best : )
I just hate how SWS never lets us customize the avionics like Black Square does :( As a VR user the 750 units are so much easier to use than these knob controlled units.
TDS lists this as a compatible VC aircraft for its GTN750Xi and GTN650Xi units. Is this not the case? Actually it’s what brought me to this video since I just bought the TDS pro package and looking for aircraft to fly with them.
@@mattcwell Yes I was actually wrong this. Surprisingly they DO alloy for some options including the 750, but not changeable like how Blacksquare does it. You need to install a different version of the PC-12 depending on which you want to use, or if like me you get it from the MSFS store there is a mod you need to download.
Had a buddy on the department whose BiL owned a PC-12. He regularly carried my friend and his wife with them on trips to Vegas and the like. I believe he was based out of KADS. Tony talked about how fast that plane was and remarked about how high they flew. He'd bring pictures up to the station and I was positively envious. Question: Is it possible to cross control in the PC-12? I ask because of the interconnected rudder pedals and yoke. Added in Edit: The RMI seemed to "click" around as opposed to a smooth rotation. Is that something true to life in the PC-12? I have precious little time in GA where the airframe was equipped with an RMI and the needle deflected according to course changes smoothly.
Hello Kyle, I was just doing some reading on the PC-12 actually; it is quite amazing just how well the aircraft performs, vs the competition (the only single-engine turboprop that can carry a similar load, is the C208 and that’s some 100kts slower!). I’m not all that familiar with the realities on the control interconnect (just been discussing that with someone else haha). My understanding, is that the interconnect can be overridden, to allow for de-crabbing on landing etc. Either way, I don’t think the system is replicated particularly well in the sim (primarily due to MSFS limitations). I would Imagine that the RMI needle animation is incorrect. The RMI needles were actually working in the reverse sense on release so, at least SWS have now sorted that haha. I hope that helps a little. All the best! : )
Hi iiBork, I'm using a head-tracking device called "TrackIR" for the camera movements. It's great, although a little pricey. There are cheaper / freeware alternatives available though, should you wish to give it a go for yourself : ) I hope that helps. All the best!

So... If the yoke and rudder pedals are linked in that way, does that mean you could "theoretically" taxi with just your hands and fly with just your feet? 😂
as interesting as that is, no, the only reason you can do it in the sim is because of limitation. IRL the yoke wont move the rudder but the rudder will move the yoke.
I personally don't think the ailerons and rudder are actually interconnected in real life. I myself am a rampie who flies sims, NOT a real pilot. But as a rampie, I know many PC-12 pilots because I interact with them every day (they fly for LabCorp, which uses PC-12s on the legs to my FBO). So I've asked all my PC-12 pilot buddies whether the rudders and ailerons are really interconnected in real life and all of them have said they are not. This isn't even mentioned in their training on the machine and they all thought I was crazy for asking. But as we were all curious as to where this idea in the sim came from, we've even tested this. The pilots have moved the ailerons but the rudder doesn't move, and vice versa. Thus, there is demonstrably no direct, full-time, mechanical control linkage between the PC-12's ailerons and rudder. BUT, these tests were all done while we were waiting for the LabCorp van to arrive with the cargo, with the plane cold and dark. So, the only explanation we could come up with for the sim version having interconnected controls had to do with something requiring power, such as the yaw damper. But the pilots were even skeptical of this because, again, such interconnection of controls was an alien concept to them. So in the opinions of the PC-12 pilots I know, there is no such thing in real life. Now, LabCorp doesn't have any brand new PC-12s. Apparently they buy all the 2nd-hand ones they can get (out-bidding every individual who wants one for himself), so LabCorp's PC-12s are of varying age. But they've all got G3000 panels because LabCorp updates them to that if they began life with steam panels. Regardless of that, the planes rotate between routes as they go into and come out of their 100hr inspections so the pilots I know have flown many PC-12s across the fleet. And none of them, to their knowledge, have any interconnection between aileron and rudder. IOW, the lack of interconnection in real life spans many model years of the plane. So anyway, that's why I don't think the aileron/rudder interconnection is actually a thing.
Hi Bullet, Thank you very much for your feedback, very interesting! I have no horse in the race on this one however, SWS does have a real-world PC-12 pilot on the team and he seemed pretty sure about the interconnect. Looking at a more neutral source, I’ve found a few online articles, that would also seem to suggest that this is the case (read the Major Systems / Loading paragraph): www.aviationconsumer.com/used-aircraft-guide/pilatus-pc-12-2/ I think where the issue lies, is that the sim doesn’t do a very good job of replicating this interconnect (I believe that it shouldn’t be 1:1 and also the rudder should not be able to actuate the ailerons). If memory serves me correctly, the system is designed to help co-ordinate turns and washes out with speed. Why your chaps aren’t seeing anything on the ground, I have no idea. Maybe it is a function of the yaw damper (though it sounds rather more like a mechanical linkage). Perhaps as well, as you say, it only applies to later generations of the PC-12 (which the article would seem to suggest also). Either way, I think the SWS implementation still needs some work. Many thanks again for your thoughts and indeed your testing! : ) Edit: It seems the “10A” was the first variant to have the full interconnect (though it sounds like some sort of system existed, even before that): pilatusowners.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Pilatus-PC-12-Model-Variants-POPA-Members-Guide-1.pdf
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Well, today, as a control, I verified that the Bonanza does have a direct, full-time, mechanical linkage between ailerons and rudder. The pilot, while doing his preflight, grabbed the ailerons and moved them up and down, and the rudder moved (much less) left and right, as did the yokes and rudder pedals as seen through the open door. And tonight, LabCorp had a different PC-12 than the past couple weeks (they rotate around as they go through 100hr inspections). So me and the pilot tested this one to see if it was any different than the others, but nope. Moving the ailerons (while cold and dark) did nothing to the rudder and vice versa. Thus, no mechanical link in this PC-12 either. So if this does exist, and the docs you linked say it does, then it must require power.
Great video! Thanks for keeping it a reasonable length. Can't stand to watch reviews that are 1.5 hours or longer. This aircraft is still extremely buggy in many areas but is slowly getting improved.
Hi HBF, Thanks very much, my pleasure and I’m glad you enjoyed it! I’m often pretty guilty of lengthy reviews myself haha but, I managed to keep things pretty reasonable here (I think : ) There is certainly still a fair amount of work to be done on the PC-12 however, as I mentioned during the video, if SWS’ Kodiak is anything to go by, I’m sure the PC-12 will turn out pretty great. Cheers and all the best to you!
I dont like two of the registrys for the PC 12 both offensive otherwise a good review and seems to be a good plane. sorta reminds me one they had for not SW , dont remember which 2004 or FSX where they had external light IE light on the company logo.
I gather that they are real-world registry’s Mike but, I know what you mean (and it’s shame that one can’t at least add a custom registration). Cheers! : )
Thanks for another great review, I completely agree with you regarding the seemingly premature release of this unfinished plane, given the FRS500 and TBM850 set such a high bar for additional similar craft in the market. I feel there is no reason for a simmer to buy a work in progress anymore.
Cheers Runman, my pleasure! I was quite surprised, that SWS released the PC-12 in the state that they did (especially given the overall quality of the Kodiak).
Hello again Ben,
Thank you very much as always, I’m glad you enjoyed the video!
That’s always what I strive for - there wouldn’t be much point to my videos otherwise ; )
I’m hoping we’ll get another PC-12 update soon. In the meantime, happy flying and all the best!

Still here, waiting for SWS's 727
The 727, is one that I am very much looking forward to also! Given the aircraft’s relative complexity (vs the FSR500, or a PC-12), I suspect we might have to wait a little while for it though : )
Cheers, all the best!
The TBM 860 by Black Square is the way to go. It is the real deal.
I know, but 40 dollars is a little steep. 25 is a bit more in my price range. If they ever have a half price off sale, though......@@CCitis

going volcano hunting? glad I waited. Looks dreamy, except for the beetle crawling around you left window area. Oh, I took the liberty of playing Conan The Barbarian - Anvil of Crom over that picturesque interval in the middle of your video. Made the plane look wicked!
So you noticed the ‘beetle’ too? I thought it was just me! What the heck is that that keeps ‘crawling’ down - a bug?
Haha, something like that, Mr S (I did actually record a video, heading around a Volcano in the SWS Kodiak but, that one never made the light of day in the end). There’s definitely still some more work to be done on the PC-12 so, waiting is probably prudent. Great video! I really need to get up to BIIS, beautiful!
I've been wanting to get this but the comments about flight characteristics on takeoff and landing have been putting me off, it seems like it was manageable for you so I think I might give it a shot.
Hi Dave,
Thanks very much, I’m glad you enjoyed the videos (BIIS, is definitely well worth a visit!).
I would be very interested in your take on the Cockspur phenom 100.
Spicy approach!
Thanks much, works great on the xbox
I’ve tried with this plane but it’s so difficult to fly it coordinated. I step on the ball but the yaw has a mind of its own
Flight model is totally broken. It's ridiculous on approach. Yaws about 45 degrees, even with no wind!
Hi Ronin,
Yes, I was definitely experiencing similar issues myself.
Great video. Happy to pay, though, when the product is feature complete.

SWS or Carenado PC12 which one would you recommend
Hi Daniel,
It depends what you’re after really.
Hi Logan,
The ATC is indeed real-world recordings, which I’ve then edited into the video. There is actually an ATC chatter app available for MSFS though, if that’s the sort of thing you’re after : )
I hope that helps. Cheers and all the best!

There are a multitude of reasons, as to why a particular number of prop blades might be chosen.
You need to install a different version of the PC-12 depending on which you want to use, or if like me you get it from the MSFS store there is a mod you need to download.
great flying!

Hello Kyle,
They’re default sim effects. In this particular case, caused by the snow coverage.
I hope that clarifies things. All the best : )
Hello Kyle,
I was just doing some reading on the PC-12 actually; it is quite amazing just how well the aircraft performs, vs the competition (the only single-engine turboprop that can carry a similar load, is the C208 and that’s some 100kts slower!).
Nice aurcraft. I will purchaise the SWS PC12 in the future. By now I have the RV10 and RV14 and of course the Kodiac 100. Also nice the ORBX mesh.

@@hostettervideos Interesting, thanks for the clarification!
How do you crab on landing then?!
@@ArrRoh you can overpower it. You can do that in the sim too
@@hostettervideoshow
Hi Bullet,
Thank you very much for your feedback, very interesting!
I have no horse in the race on this one however, SWS does have a real-world PC-12 pilot on the team and he seemed pretty sure about the interconnect. Looking at a more neutral source, I’ve found a few online articles, that would also seem to suggest that this is the case (read the Major Systems / Loading paragraph): www.aviationconsumer.com/used-aircraft-guide/pilatus-pc-12-2/
I think where the issue lies, is that the sim doesn’t do a very good job of replicating this interconnect (I believe that it shouldn’t be 1:1 and also the rudder should not be able to actuate the ailerons).
Edit: It seems the “10A” was the first variant to have the full interconnect (though it sounds like some sort of system existed, even before that): pilatusowners.org/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Pilatus-PC-12-Model-Variants-POPA-Members-Guide-1.pdf
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Well, that's very interesting reading. It's weird that it seems to exist but not when powered down.
Yeah, I can’t readily wrap my head around why that might be haha. If you and the chaps manage to figure it out, please do let me know : )
@@IntotheBlueSimulations Will do.

Not ideal and yes, it is currently hard to recommend the aircraft over the TBM 850 / FSR500. I don’t mind too much though, so long as the aircraft is ultimately finished to a high standard (we shall see).
