I still have my first issued Glock 17 (purchased from the agency while on the job). The days I carry a Glock 19 Gen4, but I did get a Gen5 that I keep in the safe in case I ever have to send my Gen4 in for servicing that I can't so myself. My reasons are the same as yours. Continuous reliability for over 30yrs. (Minor spring issues with the first run of Gen4 17s that was fixed immediately.) Simplicity all around. (Anything extra on the gun means something to get caught up or damaged in my opinion and experience.) Ease of finding and acquiring spare parts. Excellent "combat" accuracy. It's not quite a precision gun, but I can do very well with it. Ease of finding and acquiring accessories. Capacity, compared to size and weight. Value for price. 👌💯🔥

Among my shortlist... I chose glock 19 gen 5 mos... My shortlist were the same smith and wesson MNP 2.0, CZ P10C, Taurus PT92, or Glock 17.... Same reasons actually, reliability, repeatability of results when firing, Robust (3Rs) na hit niya sakin, also with after market support and parts... Need ko is pag binunot ko, puputok no questions asked...Also should you want to change anything sobrang daming parts available. 🥰

Glock 34 is way too big to conceal for everyday carry. Since he is looking for a self-defense gun, Glock 19 is the perfect size for everyday carry and home defense. You don't need a longer sight radius for self-defense, if you're shooting at a person that is far away, that is no longer self-defense. Self-defense scenarios are often close range (ex: house, store, sidewalk). Glock 34 is best for competition shooting/military application but a bad choice for everyday civilian use. IMO

Im a beginner gun owner too. I was looking for glock 17 mos before panv home defence then naubusan ng stock during gun show, so i ended up buying glock34 gen 5 mos, may kamahalan sya lero naisip ko im gonna have fun in the range for shooting competitions.
For home defense, mas trip ko din po ang 34. Even planning to purchase one then install an SF X300 for my designated Home Defense pistol and Competition gun if magbabalak ako in the future. 17 and 34 are both great gun anyway, I hope naging satisfied po kayo sa 34 kahit wala ng 17 na stock.
+ Reliable. I have earlier Gen Glocks more than a decade old. They still run without issue. + Prevalent. + Lots of after market accessories and support. + Light for its class. + Mags are ubiquitous and can be used in other FAs, especially PCCS like the Ruger PC Carbine or CMMG Banshee. - Average Trigger - Average Sights. Some competitors come with night sights out of the box. - Lack of safety features. See Glock Leg. I have personal knowledge of at least two Glock owners who had negligent discharges with Glocks. - little or no innovation in design. It took years for Glock to put front serrations in their pistols. Most pistols now come optics ready. - expensive in the Philippine Market. For a popular brand, it should be cheaper. Instead, Glock markets itself as high-mid tier pistol. Should it be the first handgun for a beginner like yourself? No. mainly on safety reasons. If you’re confident to carry Condition 0, then go ahead. Otherwise, Glocks are only good for Condition 3 carry (aka Israeli carry) for beginners. But, that's just my opinion.

Like next buy should be a shotgun, micro compact or g34 size pistol or PCC since di pwede 556 dito sa pinas. Bigyan ko kayo ng example ng nandiyan pa ako sa Pilipinas at may bago kaming kasama .Bago din na puputok gamit niya glock maliit kamay niya di niya gaanong ma grip medyo hirap siya . Pinagamit ko sa kanya yung 1911 ,in 40 caliber ,format ko ayun mas tumatama siya sa target .Mas nagustuhan niya .Tinanong namin siya bakit yun binili niya sabi sa amin yun daw kasi sinabi at gamit ng kaibigan niya . An additional advice po from a FA Group to me is try to test fire the firearms to know which is the best fir for you. RAI has a very good reputation din po.
Gd pm po. Sa Talon Grip vid ko po sa dulo may clip ng range time. Blocky po ang grip ni glock, pero kaya naman po i manipulate if your wife has a S-M size hands ng gloves. Pwede din po i consider ang slimline ni Glock like G48 or other skimmer FAs.
Yan rin di ko maintindihan sa mga taong mas mahalaga ang magandang trigger, gwapong baril at magandang sights na pwdeng pwde namang palitan. Same tayo ng reasons practical sya, easy to maintain, easy to use very reliable. Glock 19x una kong baril at same tayo ng reasons bat Glock ang pinili para sa unang baril.
i choose the glock 19 gen 4 with front serration over the gen 5, mas pogi cia tignan, sa gunshow ko rin binili last 2018, mas mahal cia nang kaunti sa gen 5 maybe sa serration nia, but nevertheless the design and the gens is they are very reliable in every way, i have no regrets in buying though
Great review and pointers lodi…but am guessing why you didnt go thru Taurus G3 and G3c options is that maybe, 1st is yeah reputation is correct thats one advantage ni Glock, quality medyo humahabol na Taurus specially yung G series nila for quite sometime na ren pero symepre adv p ren si Glock thats 2nd, after market medyo yah advantage pa den si Glock sa dami ng options thats 3rd, but basic repair and parts am sure prolific na ren si G3 sa market, and ang pang 4th is pricing, i think dun talo si Glock dito, if not mistaken you could almost buy 2 G3 for your 1 Glock lols, but anyways that is still a great gun dont get me wrong, keep it up and more power 2yah cheers!
Tnx Sir for cross checking the review. It is really more of my own personal preference nalang din tlga na nangibabaw kaya Glock over Taurus. Money wise , G3 talaga ang good deal. Mas confident lang ako na ang brand or FA na pinili ko ay may repitation na unlike Taurus G3 na bago palang ho sa market at wala pang data ang long term use. Nung binili ko ho ito ay wala pang 1 yr sa pinas ang G3. Pero sa isa ang G3 tlga sa suggested ko sa mga kaibigan lalo na sa mga first time owners na tight pa ang budget. :)

May mga kilala ako na 54 lang pero nai co-conceal naman. 19 ay concealable pa din. If gusto nyo ng mas maliit, check nyo din G48 o G43x - mas ok for me kaysa 26. You can even have it at 15 rnds with shield arms mag.
True. Sa ibang bansa, US for example, hindi nila advise na mag carry on a bag, even on a purse, for females.Only bad guys, with unregistered FA, will carry IWB.. when bad situation happens, kung hindi ka maagawan ng bag mo with ur FA inside, naunahan ka na sa draw.

Glock 34 is the best beginner handgun. Larger frame, shoots softer, longer sight radius etc. IMO beginners should start with larger frame handguns

19 ay concealable pa din. If gusto nyo ng mas maliit, check nyo din G48 o G43x - mas ok for me kaysa 26. You can even have it at 15 rnds with shield arms mag.
As per PNP guidelines, bawal po mag IWB ng FA. It should be concealed on a bag if you have ptcor..just a reminder.

True. Sa ibang bansa, US for example, hindi nila advise na mag carry on a bag, even on a purse, for females.Only bad guys, with unregistered FA, will carry IWB.. when bad situation happens, kung hindi ka maagawan ng bag mo with ur FA inside, naunahan ka na sa draw.
