      @@buddyvanspankeren8255 Wrong. Did you know that the work of a Sydney born, Australian engineer by the name of John O’Sullivan, led to the invention of wireless Internet? It’s a technology used by billions of devices around the world every day, and it all started right here, down-under.
      We’ve managed to build our own sky speed network thanks to John’s amazing legacy. But long before our start in 2005, just how did the invention of wireless come about? Back in the 80s, John O’Sullivan was fascinated by Stephen Hawking’s 1974 theory that black holes in space are not always empty black masses. In fact, Hawking suggested that when black holes exploded, they transformed into radio waves that transmitted through space. Hawking could picture a future where through technology, these galactic radio waves could be received and interpreted right here on earth.
      Isn’t that cool? John and his colleagues certainly thought so. These radio waves became a passion of theirs, to the point where they decided to try and measure and interpret these foreign transmissions from space, and bring Hawking’s future to the present.

    Yes, you just missed ANZAC Day. It’s held on the anniversary of Australia and New Zealand Army Corps’ first big military engagement at Gallipoli and it has become a day to remember the fallen in all wars and to pay respect to those veterans who managed to return. Most ANZAC services are held just before dawn at locations all around the country and the sun comes up during the service. That time is chosen because it coincides with the time of our servicemen coming ashore at Gallipoli. Many of the veterans who attend their local Dawn Service then head into the city to take part in the Anzac Parade that starts around 9.00 a.m. and winds through the main city streets.

    With the boomerang it isn't supposed to come right back to you, but if you want it to it does curve back to your approximate location and you may have to run to catch it. It's designed to arc away and back to hopefully stun or kill your target so you actually aren't wanting it to come back to you per se if you are hunting with it, you just want it to essentially 'brain' your target.

    The power strip or power board was invented by Kambrook. The worst CEO decision not to get the power board design copyrighted the CEO being more interested in sales. The consequence being that any other company that makes a power board doesn't have to give royalties to Kambrook so whilst Kambrook initially made money from sales they've missed out on the HUGE royalty payments ever since. I still have two of the originals Kambrooks which only had four power outlets but each with their own on/off power switch just like our wall power sockets.

    • @silverstreettalks343
      @silverstreettalks343 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The problem for Kambrook was that you can't patent prior art
      Although Talbot designed the compact plastic-cased power board, it wasn't uncommon for builders, electricians and others to make their own out of wood and Masonite with surface mounted power outlets. They were crude, but worked.
      My father made one in the 1950s when he was building our house, and I am pretty sure one of the neighbours had one, and the electrician who did the new wiring had one.
      It wasn't uncommon for them not to have a back, so the "internal" writing was a bit exposed.

    Hay Ryan I think you like the forest and here also is the great dividing range where it starts as far north near cape York down to bottom of New South Wales. And in there we have the blue mountains, black mountains, O’Reillys mountains and O’Reillys has its own unique story a movie was made called “the riddle of the Stinson “in 1987. bina burra mountains, Melany, montville, flax ton mountains are also holiday resort area and forest areas, melany has botanical gardens and bird sanctuary, the range was a string of volcanoes is what we were told in school , further north is cairns where inland from there is beautiful Kuranda where extinct volcanoes are filled with water and I believe hippies reside still. There is more! like the sun shine beach , bribe island, 4 wheel drive heaven and the further north you go on the east coast the cleaner the ocean gets then don’t forget the Great Barrier Reef, just putting things in that I know about aus, because when I watch you I think you must already be Australian, you should or must visit, and adding also Australians do embrace Americans 😊

    Unfortunately they announced this week that they are stopping production of "fantarlies" (as this guy mispronounced them) since they are no longer popular. Fantales (fan tales) had short bios of stars for their fans on the wrappers. So you would eat a fantale while reading about a movie star. Great for when you went to the flicks on a Saturday arvo.

    6:34; first of all, that's not how you pronounce cassowary (short 'a' sound on the second letter) and secondly, yes. Yes, they truly are. Steve Irwin was wary about two creatures, one was the homicidal semi-aquatic mountain of muscle that is the hippo, the other is the modern-day deinonychus known as the cassowary.

    Outback steak house is nothing to do with Australia...the owners had never been to Australia when it opened (they may have been now), it is an American idea of what Australian food should be. The Shrine of Remembrance is ok, but you should check out the war memorial in Canberra, it has the tomb of the unknown soldier and every known person that has died in conflict on lists on the remembrance walls. It is also a misconception overseas that all of Australia was a convict colony...there were a number of places that started by free settlers and not convicts.
