Funny thing about that. My brother actually corrected me on this just yesterday while we were listening to the gunhead soundtrack, it was our Destroy All Monsters VHS, but for some reason I thought it was 1985. 😅
I left my soundtrack at home in NY and only made mp3s of it when I moved out here. If I recall there was a booklet inside that had track listings/pics from the movie, technical stats on the GUNHED mech.. stuff like that :)
Ah yes Gunhed a blast from the past, yes its a pity about this movie, for visuals it gets 10 out 10 for the cyberpunkish feel, and yes the first act is ok, but then it all goes to hell, a really pity, it would be nice if someone had another crack at this movie a remake or something, but get the story right this time, still I enjoy watching it for the visuals alone, and this OST which I cant find anywhere, so thanks for uploading.
@em23 out the mission but more than that to evolve from a junk scavenger to a hero. dont get me wrong I LOVE THIS FILM, it has a special meaning in my heart, i even borrowed some element of this for my screenplay.
@em23 right i can totally understand you here, and i have very similar feelings, even though i gotta say this that i recently watched it after 15 years again and i STILL thought it was an awesome movie. i wasnt as dizzy from excitement as the first time around but still it was a very good movie ... just look at the fine visuals this movie presents
@torstn i like many films that arent necessarily the best in cinema. but regardless they hold a special place in my memories because of the time i saw them in.
@torstn yes its the visuals and the props. this movie has the "aliens" industrial feel to it. i love that. i recently got a hold of it myself and watched it after all these years. it could use some editing some parts drag but i love it nevertheless.
@em23 well it is among my favorite movies and will always be, i dont watch movies like that though, analyzing it too much or recognizing flaws... either i like or its just ok or i dont like it
@sijyokingo i translated your comment but all i got was something about commenting on how japan was unprecedented. if you are addressing my comment, i was saying that the movie wasnt really well paced or at times directed. however i loved this movie because of the props and the atmosphere.
Ive got that Soundtrack CD too, But for Crusher Joe the First OVA(Special ed Collection). Dont have the 2 other CJ movie soundtracks (Ice Prison, Ultimate weapon)
@2jzgte83 HAHA RIGHT ON !!! me too bro - it was around 93/94 i think that it was shown on pro7 - i taped it when i was on tv in the early 2000s cause i could never see the final half hour the first time- very excellent picture quality but i dont remember any of the music though -- while the musics so aweseom
@Terneyah The reason i say this is because i think they...(spoiler alert!)...... ....................................killed off the characters WAY too early in the film. Mickey curtis was awesome and he was setup as a "older wiser man" to brooklyn. the other characters had really great potential and their own strenght about them. while brooklyn was the main character and he was setup as a arrogant kid, the others possesed values they could have passed off to him in order to carry---
there are some very good elements to this film. i think the props and costumes are AWESOME, and the story starts out great but after the first act it tends to go downhill.
oh, that's right! I just noticed that! LOL. You're to be highly thanked for your efforts. Now if you could only upload the original music to the Crusher Joe OVAs (as opposed to the wretched English-language version), I'd write you in for President Of The World! Again, much appreciation.
that's a pretty good summary, it certainly has issues, but the visual style, atmosphere and music is great enough that I can look past most of it's issues. The pacing is odd, and it makes it kinda hard to get a feel for the dimensions of the building it all takes place in. While trying to avoid spoilers - there's a lot of stuff implying vast distances, (like the 20 hour climb with the Gunhed) but then having people crossing them in moments when the script wants them to.
They use the same melody from "Island 8JO" for this and other songs. Toshiyuki Honda isn't really doing anything wrong I guess because he wrote it and can use as many times as he likes. Akira Ifukube did the same thing in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla 2.

設定とBGMは最高の映画だった。
原田眞人監督も川北紘一監督も、このガンヘッドの後で有名になるけど、ガンヘッドの頃は未熟な部分がまだあった

Criminally overlooked movie. What they achieved on a budget like this was insane.
i'd say it succeeds in visuals but fails in everything else unfortunately, with a better writer it could've been something really incredible

I own the official GUNHED SOUNDTRACK CD as well. I bought it when It first came out. Some nice atmospheric music. I really enjoyed it lots.

興行的に大失敗したのが悔やまれる(ﾉД`)内容的に時代を先取りし過ぎたのか⁉️もしガンヘッドが公開当時大ヒットなら、パシフィックリムは無かったと思う。
早すぎた作品だったのかも知れませんね。あるいはアニメ化したら良かったのかも(何しろ東宝との提携とは言え、サンライズ作品で数少ない、あるいは唯一の特撮映画だったから)。
