I only recently began to truly appreciate this film. I saw it in 85 when I was 14 and thought it was terrible...truth be told I just didn't get it. Now, having rewatched it w more maturity, it is undeniably one of the best, if not THE best fantasy films to come out of the 80s. It's audacious, schizophrenic, unabashed in its disregard for parameters, beautifully shot with an obviously big budget and glorious practical effects, fitted with a rousing score, bizarre, funny, sexy, all-over-the-board, and with REALLY REALLY GOOD actors who understand it's soul, or...Lifeforce! The performances are extremely dedicated thus elevating the suspension of logic and disbelief and having a grand 'ol "WTF???!!" time! Steve Railsback is so committed as Carelson ...watch him! He doesn't do one unbelievable thing! I love this schizophrenic film. LIFEFORCE was ahead of its time and the 80s didn't know what to do with it.

Haha,@@AllanElMelon1043! Glad to broaden your horizons. Mathilda May at age 19 possessed such physical perfection, such a rack to end all racks, that any clothing would have only reduced her beauty. And that irresistibility was intrinsic to the story and her character, which is how her agent talked her into doing it. It was said she seemed to float above the ground as she moved along it thanks to her ballerina training, and her performance from the neck up too seemed truly otherworldly. When director Tobe Hooper, toward the end of his life, was asked: "What do you think people remember most about Lifeforce?" he thought for a bit then quietly answered: "Mathilda May." Mathilda for her part spoke very highly of the production once she'd gotten used to acting without clothes- everyone from Tobe on down was scrupulous to keep her comfortable on set, and all these fine trained British actors taught her English bit by bit when, as a French girl, she's arrived with hardly any. When the music that you noticed in that "Runaway Train" trailer burst on screen at the Paris premiere, its wide-eyed star thought "Oh my goodness, this is BIG!" and she was thrilled. Fantastic underrated movie. Great story and plot, decent effects for the time and some good action. Might have done better if they hadn't gone for the 'tits' gimmick.
I was 16 years old when I first saw this movie back in early 2002, and MY GOD, I have never looked at vampire flicks the same way again. Great action movie. I’m picky and I never understood why it didn’t get more (positive) attention. Relentlessly entertaining - the 2 hours literally fly by.
Because BG developers thought that out of the very few that watched the Lifeforce, fewer still would have remembered the music. But since the tune is such a masterpiece, it would be a shame to let it be forgotten. So they took it.

Yes, Matilda May's boobs stuck in my head from the first time I saw this movie in 1992. They were the first pair of completely bare boobs I had seen in any media at the time - the competition up until that point had been lingerie models in the Argos catalogue with either very dark nipples or wearing very thin bras, if you get my drift here. Lets just say that back then I gave the movie more stars than Roger Ebert would have.

Jeffrey DeCristofaro Does any body recall the hal bop.As went by the earth it was huge.Anyway when I saw it this song started playing in my head.
学生の時に映画館で見たのですが、冒頭、真っ暗な中このテーマ曲だけが流れ、そこから一転、チャーチル号が彗星に接近するシーンでの、止めテロップスタートでした。
