I just heard this video and find it’s a godsend for me esp because I have hearing loss and cannot find a satisfactory solution for regular use with phone. The new AirPods which double up as good hearing aid option is news to me. Your video is very helpful and I will order for them right away. My only problem is Apple Intelligence iOS 18.2 is not made available in India yet. Still, I would buy the new AirPods because they seem to work somewhat for someone with hearing loss and is as old as I am (84)!!
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. The hearing aid function doesn’t require iOS 18.2 or Apple intelligent. Just 18.1 and an iPhone 11 or later phone. I don’t know it it will work in India.
I love your video, I just picked up my Air Pods yesterday and there are so many settings. I've watched several videos trying to figure out how to set up the Air Pods, your video is the best. Thank you.
Thankyou thankyou thankyou... because you helped me tremendously fix the glitch! And I remember wrapped in a blanket on the beach with fiancé and friends listening to inagodadavida ! Honey🎼
thank you. i came home and it was like you read my mind. i have had my air pod pro 2's for about a month now but constantly wonder do i have the set up correctly. am i getting the most out of the hearing aid feature. my hearing loss is directly from loud music over the years. one thing i dont like is enabling the conversation awareness but it cuts out the music when i sing along. and i like to sing. again, thank you for the videos.
These hearing aid videos are gold! My mother has had hearing challenges and doesn't like her expensive hearing aids. She has an iPad and I assume these can be set up that way too, but of course she can't easily carry the iPad with her to make adjustments when she's out of the house. Wondering how much of a problem that will be? She's not much of a smart phone user.
Thanks for your comment. The iPad will work fine to control the AirPods. If you leave the iPod or iPhone that was used to control the AirPods, it isn’t a problem. The AirPods continue to work in the mode they were in when the iOS device is left. Thanks for your comment!
❤ you are fabulous, funny and wonderfully informative. I wish I had watched this video before I purchase my AirPod pros! There is no way apple would tell me the hearing aid feature would not be available in Canada. That’s a couple hours of my life I’ll never get back again. very angry with Apple. Very happy with you! Now back to my I. Ron Butterfly album.😎🎉
Thanks so much for the kind words! I’m always happy to help people out, but it’s too bad about Apple not being more upfront about the availability of the feature.
Thanks so much for this informative video! You answered a lot of my questions. How long did it take you to get used to the occlusion effect when wearing these AirPods? I keep thinking I'll get used to it and it just isn't happening.
I’m still not completely used to it. When it starts to feel that way, I wiggle it a bit to let some air in. But I’m not as bothered by it as I was. I don’t think the AirPods will ever be my full-time hearing aids, but I still love them for those times when I want the best sound. I’ve been trying out a pair of over the counter hearing aids that I’ll be doing a video on soon. Having these along with the AirPods seems like the best balance.
thank you so much for your knowledge and help. I am trying to set up my AirPods 2 pros and have a few questions. 1. I wore them at a family dinner and my own chewing noise prevented me from hearing conversation - what do I need to do. also, can you tell me if it is ok to just use one side. thank you thank you!
I believe the reason you heard your own chewing is because the ear canal was completely blocked. I suggest trying smaller tips or repositioning of the AirPods in your ear a bit. Second, Yes you can use one AirPod if you wish. Hope that helps!
Technically the ones Costco sells (at least in the US) are not considered over-the-counter hearing aids. They do a hearing test and fit them for you. With over the counter hearing aids they are sent to you and you have to do the setup. You lose some service but can save a significant amount of money with OTC. I’ve been told by many viewers in Canada that they can not use the hearing aid feature on the AirPods and can’t order true OTC hearing aids like those from ELEHEAR.
I'm considering getting those airpods, but I have a question: If I am wearing my usual hearing aids can I put on the earbuds and use them both at the same time when I'm in a restaurant, or must I take them out in order to use the airpods? Thanks for your videos! I find them valuable and subscribed.
No, unfortunately that won’t work. I just put out another video on an over the ear hearing aid that has worked better for me than the AirPods. Thanks for your comment !
I had to look these up. It looks like you have Samsung Earbuds sold by Walmart. They appear similar to the Apple AirPods, but made to work with android phones rather than an iPhone. Is that right? Unfortunately, the hearing aid function is only in the latest update for iPhone software. Yours would not work.
@@thetuckersplaylittlestpets7054ok, that clarifies a lot. So they are the Apple 3rd Generation iPods. The hearing aid option officially only works either Apple AirPods Pro 2. If you just got these, you might consider returning them and replacing them with the Pro 2s. If you don’t want to do that, you could certainly try the Mimi app. I know some people were using Mimi before 18.1 iOS opened the option for the AirPods Pro 2. So it might work with your AirPods. But I’ve never used Mimi and can’t guarantee what it does.
Yes it can. and the AirPods will continue to work as set when you disconnect the iPad, but the iPad will need the internet and the AirPods will need to be connected any time you make a change.
I have a problem with keeping the AirPod Pro 2's in my ears and if they fall out I am afraid I might lose them. The AirPods have been correctly fitted apparently, according to the test suggested by you, but they still remain precarious. Any suggestion about how to keep them in my ears or to stop them getting lost if they fall, or one falls out? BTW I am an Octogenarian!
Welcome David! I may have help for you. Today I will be trying three inexpensive products to adapt the AirPods Pro 2 to fit better. I’m in the same boat. I really like the AirPods, but the right one falls out easily. I will try to post it today. It will be a relatively short video. I haven’t tried them myself, but I’m very hopeful! Thanks for commenting.
Here in the UK I’m running IOS 18.2 developer beta but still don’t have the hearing aid option. Guess we’re waiting for regulatory approval. I have mild hearing loss and find that the AirPods 2 pro with conversation awareness turned on helps. Went to a comedy club recently and the AirPods helped hugely. On a lighter note………”Iron Butterfly”. Remember them well. !!!
Another viewer told me that before the hearing aid option was available, that he used an app called Mimi that gave him hearing aid options with the AirPods. I’m glad they still help. I haven’t been to a concert or performance with mine yet, but I’m sure they would be very helpful! Thanks for your comment!
I think “Mimi” is an app to test your hearing. It incorporates the audiogramme into the Apple health app. But when you open the AirPods on the settings page there is still no hearing aid option. Hopefully just a matter of time. It took a while for the UK to implement fall detection as well.
I'm in the UK and do have the Hearing Aid option. It may be because when I uploaded to iOS18.1 I wanted to try out Apple Intelligence so changed all my setting to English USA. That got me Apple Intelligence, but that messed up my other apps, so after a week I changed it back to English UK. Other apps are not messed up, but I do have the Hearing Aid Option!
Great video! Thanks for going through all the settings options spread out over various locations. Does anyone have experience in using the AirPods as a hearing aid with just one ear? I.e. what if a person is completely deaf in one ear? Are these still a viable option?
Thanks for the feedback! I’m not aware of any using it for just one ear. But I don’t know any reason why one wouldn’t work by itself. They can be adjusted individually. Boa Sorte!
Hello, Does live listen need to be turned on while using Airpods pro 2 as hearing aids? I just bought them and not sure how these work. Previously I used my old airpods before with live listen and wondering whats the real difference? I'm curious if live listen needs to be on because its annoying with my phone my pocket picking up every rustling sound with the speaker in my pocket. Thanks for the video too!
No, Live Listen uses your iPhone microphone. It’s a good option for some situations and it has been available before the new hearing aid features. The new features in iOS 18.1 or later uses the AirPods Pro 2 microphones (there’s one in each AirPod. Thanks for your comment!
@@AwCrap-Tech That's what I thought. It seems I'm having a problem with my airpod microphones working for some reason. Checked all the settings and nothing.
Haven't tried yet but transferring microphone from ipod to iphone was an interest as I could set iphone next to TV speaker (or other device) or in noisy table/environment where I could place iphone next to person for better proximity hearing. I'm a recluse but I'll experiment on my TV. Unless you use options frequently, the ease is not reflexive but frustrating.
If the live listen mode using the iPhone microphone works, that’s awesome. If you have an Apple TV device, the AirPods will pair with that and give you excellent sound. I find I’m watching shows on my iPad more now for that reason. Thanks for your comment!
I don’t have airpods, but I’m curious to know: Is the sound detected and emphasized by the pods? Or is the sound detected by the phone and emphasized by the pods?
Good question! The phone only controls the settings for the AirPods. The AirPods have their own microphones for picking up external sounds. Of course when listening to media, the sound comes through the Bluetooth connection. As hearing aids, I can leave the phone behind and they still work as hearing aids.
What if there IS no New Option, or Hearing Test underneath my name in settings, even though the iPods are connected and show connected? I do not know where to look in settings if it is not there.
First of all, are you in the US? After you have gone through the initial pairing of the AirPods to your iPhone (11 or greater), when you open the case of your AirPods Pro 2 or are wearing them a new option for the AirPods should show up right below your name or account name in settings.
