Haha I love this mode. The A.I is so savage. No matter where you go you can never escape their wrath, you may run for a bit but that super speed will have them catching up to you in no time plus they're so strong when they ram into you its crazy even a little hit will move you easily plus they're defense is impeccable
It's called a doppler effect. It happens when sound approaches and gets louder and higher-pitched. Same thing when it gets farther away then at that point it gets fainter and lower-pitched. Ever hear a train horn or whistle when it flies past at a railroad crossing? It's louder & higher when it's coming? Then hear it get lower and fainter as it rolls away? They put the doppler effect on the police voices and their sirens, too. That's one of my favorite things about this game was that awesome doppler effect. Even some modern games don't have a doppler effect this good.
I don't really know why I tried to fit through there. xD. There is somewhere in which I was able to fit through a small gap between two bushes when the police crashed into the back of my car. I will have a look at some of your videos sometime.

someone used a gameshark to change the police to those huge busses in survival, that was ridiculous
