Hey Cager. I recently fitted a Polini Speed Clutch to my Xmax 125. Much more fluid at low rev pick up. Much quicker from 50-70kph. Slightly less fuel efficient but marginally. Well worth the cost.
Thanks for revieving 125's! recently in my country goverment changed the law so I'll be able to drive 125's with cat B driving licence :)

It seems to be a good 125 cc, although expensive.It´s is a good bike if someone doesn't have a license and wants to have one 125 cc for a long period...It´s is the same case with the honda varadero 125 cc.
Hi Cager, Been watching your review videos for a while for 125cc Scooters, and I've only just bought my first bike. I have the older version of this bike 'VP125 X-City'...I think....and if it's anything like this one, I love it :) I very nearly bought a Honda PCX 125 but it would've been a bit smaller for me. I Also looked at buying a Tricity, after watching your review of it, though i couldn't afford one.

Maybe You are a more experienced rider now, so You have more confidence in turns, thats why You can take corners faster. Or this scooter is good :) You should try a CBF125 to see.

For the VP channel? It should be better than pcx since its heavier.
1:50 YES .. Yamaha should thank you over the other boneheads . you just sold me this bike. My Honda PCX in California fits my full size helmet and more under seat. But I'm moving to Asia for 2 yrs and they have this bike . now I know what to get there . cargo space is one of the main reasons I choose a scooter over a motorcycle . great job great review. I've taken my PCX from Mexicali to San Diego (110 miles) with a week's luggage several times. I have a back trunk (Honda) filled and I strap a duffel to the passenger seat. and fill the under seat space. Regularly I can put two 2 liter cokes plus cans under seat . and/or groceries in both trunk and under seat , when I go grocery shopping. cause a scooter is faster crossing the US border from Mexicali MX to Calexico USA . I would take my PCX across the border and bring back groceries , I've done that close to a hundred times . Scooter = practicality . you rock !

wow that thing costs a little more than a CB500R in the US, the CB costs $6299 that converted is 6320EU.. for some reason the US site doesn't show that model.

I know what I did, the EU was supposed to be his Euro price converted to USD and I'm a dork that spazzed.. I did something similar when I was in machining class and used the wrong side of the carb for the measurement for the intakes I was making and tried to make velocity stacks

This is a cheap copy of the XMAX 300 available worldwide, so typical of Yamaha India, although not so for other Asia countries like Korea, Thailand and Indonesia. Marketing strategy in India are still to sell the cheapest product to get the highest sales volume, despite the profitability of niche markets and the fact that the Indian middle class has the income to buy premium models such as expensive cars and big CC motorcycles. Why put such a small 125cc engine in such a heavy scooter at 178 kg, plus with two heavyweight passengers (which most Indians are becoming), good luck? With newer Indian scooters coming out with 150cc engines, I would think Yamaha would match this, the same mistake I believe Suzuki Burgman made. It will be slower than my present scooter, TVS NTorq 125 which has a lighter weight with greater handling, so why trade up? Also they replaced the high quality analog instrument panel with the cheaper digital. Please note readers contrary to popular belief that most all high quality motorcycles and cars retain analogue for their speedometers and tachometers, which are easier to read to compare speed and RPMs. Also Yamaha has eliminated the Smart Key as well as the Traction Control System featured on the XMAX 300, and perhaps more. So compared to the XMAX 300, this is a little disappointing, although the 125 still has some nice features. Also, expect the fuel economy to be around 35 kpl. Personally I would never buy a big scooter like this with such a small engine. But perhaps it will be suitable for some riders.

Nice review. Especially for those who are thinking of buying one of these. About the stiffness of the seat, no, it's not your ass but hard suspensions of the bike itself. I also read lots of complaints at forums in Turkey and most users are complaining about the smallest bumps and even the lane lines that they feel perfectly on their asses. I think this is a compromise that great control of the bike brings. However I dunno know whether it might make you hate your bike or not. Thanks again. (Great english btw, respect ;))
Good review. But who would pay this much for a 125? It's very ugly , very heavy and seat is very high. Just for a few KPH more you are paying a huge premium compared to the NMax. Most EU scooters now are priced and powered to fit with legislation. So rather than offering decent power and safe speeds for freeway traffic, everyone is making over-heavy 125s and creating an artificial price difference between so-called "maxi" scooters and other lighter scooters that are just as good. N Max does almost everything this one does but so much cheaper, and it has ABS too.
well all you have to do is look around for pre-registered deals like i got my TGB X motion 125 for 1500 pounds usually is 2600 pounds same power output as the nmax 9KW. Maybe not quite as good but who cares when i payed 1000 less.

This XMax 125 more expensive than XMax 250 in my country. And NMax price is only 1300 pounds. Need more cheaper, Yamaha have Lexi S ABS also and its maxi scooter.

I can't believe they made such an ugly dashboard after the last gen which was perfect (analogue). And a tach is a very welcome addition if you like to mess around with the CVT tuning. EDIT: Dr Pulley sliders would do wonders in this bike for acceleration.

wasn't it little bit sloppy because it was a new bike and it peformance was eletrically limited? All new bikes bhp's are downed for first 5000 kms.. please let me know. I'm strongly considering buying one of these babies..
Hey Cager, just bought this bike yesterday I have done about 70 miles yesterday with it and the bike feels awesome...the bumps in the road are not a problem anymore... it is a bit priced up (xmax 125 abs model ) but is worth the money, anyway my question is can this bike be lowered down because is a tall motherfucker!

As you know bikes break in over time and riding. Seats also Break in and get a little better after being ridden for a 1000 miles or so.
Cager, Could you tell pros and cons of this one and pcx for riding on roads for 100km trips? Witch one would you pick for that?

Seriously, 46.000 Euro? Or you just miss saying it? I'm in Indonesia, I've been waiting for this scooter to come out since 2014, I hear its gonna come this year here. Hearing the price you mention, kind of get pessimist about how its gonna price here.

Indonesian have been waiting long for Xmax, we got the Nmax 150, and its kind of booming here. Xmax is gonna be the next big thing, Honda have PCX 150 here, but they're a bit more pricey than Nmax, so not much people ride it.
